You may be close to the mark there. Like Steamboat, Benoit lacks in the personality department, but is brilliant in the ring. Despite the lack of personality, both were popular with the fans based on ability and a hard work ethic. But, to reverse the question - who was Flair's Jericho (ie HHH's personal bitch)?

And was Luger's gimmick until he turned babyface by slamming YOKOZUNA...

Undertaker vs Jeff Jarrett - DX PPV December 1997 All the hype and shoot interviews they put into Jarretts character and he gets squashed in his first match by UT, and in the end the whole thing was just a way to generate more heat for Kane. The Hogan/Nash retirement/world title match from Road Wild was pretty lacklustre, as was the buid up for it. And David Arquette winning the World title deserves a mention as well.
-
And now an ultra-shitty Ted Dibiase clone. I guess JBL's next attempt at heel heat will be to bring back the Underfaker for a SummerSlam 94 rematch with the Undertaker. And after he fails to beat Eddy for the title, he will have his own belt made and pretend it's worth a damn.

The Quebecers had a manager named Johnny Polo, who would soon be known as RAVEN.

Considering this is a company that used necrophilia as a way to gain publicity, i'm not sure they will really care. To Vince "any publicity is good publicity".
-
A little bit off topic - but will the average wrestling fan even care that JBL did a nazi symbol? I mean, the likes of Fritz Von Erich were openly promoted as nazi's. It was a different era sure, but he ended being one of the most beloved wrestlers in Texas. Same goes for Sgt Slaughter - he stood up for Saddam Hussein at the peak of the first Gulf War, and a few years later all was forgiven as he waved the American Flag again. I know JBL is a dick for blatantly breaking German laws (well actually, JBL is just a dick in general), but i dont think regular mat fans will even care.

I still dont know why they didn't have RVD turn heel on Rey at Judgment Day, and hook up with Heyman and the Dudleys. A heel RVD vs Rey series would be great viewing, especially with Heyman cutting the promos. Then, because Rey and Eddy are friends, it's not a long leap for him to feud for the World title.
-
That is wayyyy too much John Cena for my liking, even if they are only 5 minute matches. At least RVD makes an appearance this week, and gets a match at the Bash.
-
Where's Lance Storm? Him and Test would make a decent big man/little man combo on Raw. If the Coach has done any training, then he and Cade could be bearable as a team, and Coach can easily carry the promo side of things. Eugene and Regal have to team up eventually, and with Eugene being so over a run with the gold isn't out of the question there. Maybe a Tajiri/Stevie Richards alliance could work as well.

1992 save for those big 6 names at the time(Flair, Hogan, Piper, Savage, Sid, Taker) were LOADED with equally shitty names like the 1993 rumbles (Berzerker, Barbarian, Volkoff, Haku, Valentine, Mustufa, Skinner, WARLORD etc) I have to disagree - 92 also had name wrestlers like Davey Boy Smith, Kerry Von Erich, Jake the snake, an emerging Shawn Michaels, Ted Dibiase (okay, he was out in 2 minutes but he still had credibility) and Bossman. None of them were serious threats to the big 6 that you pointed out, but they added some name value to the match. 1993 had Flair, Perfect, Taker, Savage and Yokozuna as the only real name artists, with Bob Backlund doing the ironman job. And to make matters worse, the Taker was eliminated by someone not even in the match - Giant Gonzales.

After all HHH's alleged pulling for Edge...
Australian Pride replied to Just call me Dan's topic in The WWE Folder
Maybe they should hook Edge up with a returning Brother Love. Then Edge can stand around smiling like an imbecile, while BL sprouts his "I wuv you" while also smiling like an imbecile. The heat on that pairing could be off the charts! -
And that's probably why the 93 Rumble was sooooo bad. (Yokozuna vs Earthquake in a sumo showdown should say it all)

Well, you hit the nail right on the head there. Now if only we could use that hammer to hit JBL in the head (repeatedly) the world would be a better place.

I believe the story went that Billy loved Sunny, more than he loved the Tag Titles, and that caused friction, and eventually a falling out. They had a match on Raw in which Bart "injured" Billy's neck, but when Billy made his comeback it was never mentioned again, and Billy went on to have one of the best gimmicks in history - Rockabilly. As for Owen and Bret, i dont think they had another match until Bret's comeback to Raw in November 1996, which Stone Cold interfered in and tried to break Brets ankle.
-
Give me Christian over Egde any day. I dont know what it is, but i just cant into Edge, his matches and his promos. I'm not saying he's bad at either, but he just doesn't hook me in (even before the neck op). Christian, however, has a way of keeping me interested in matches involving him, and his performances in the backstage skits with Y2J earlier this year were top notch.

Diesel beat Bob Baclund for the title. He beat Bret by DQ at KOTR 94 when he was IC champ and Bret was World Champ, then they had a no-contest at the 95 Rumble before Bret beat him at the 95 Survivors.

Best WWE match to take place in Canada?

Bret Hart vs Ric Flair - 1992 World Title upset Rock vs Hogan - WM18 Austin vs Benoit - Smackdown The Canadian Stampede 10 man -
Sid beating Bret Hart for the World title, one day after he won it. Rocky Maivia over HHH for the IC title in 1997. Edge over Jeff Jarrett for the IC title on a house show in 1999. Mankind over the Rock for the World Title on Raw was unexpected.
-
Dont know if he actually counts as a 'worker" but heres... Sid Vicious/Justice Wins: 1) vs Shawn Michaels/Survivor Series 96 - First World Title 2) vs Bret Hart/ Raw February 1997 - Second World title 3) vs Jeff Jarrett vs Scott Hall/SuperBrawl 2000 (i think) - Successfully defended WCW title Losses: 1) vs Undertaker/WM13 - absolutely crap match where he lost the World title 2) vs Diesel/IYH July 1995 - Failed to win World title in Lumberjack match 3) vs Hulk Hogan/WM8 - Lost in the one of the most screwed up finishes in WWF main event history. Defining moment - The crowd at MSG cheering him wildly and booing HBK out of the building at Survivors 96. His tragic leg injury in WCW would obviously rate pretty highly as well.
