I just watched the Monday Night War DVD, and most of the extras. I was surprised by the Hogan/Goldberg match, not becasue it was anything great, but because Hogan let Goldberg go over so strongly. Shawn/Austin vs Owen/Bulldog was also a good match, but having never seen it before, it wasn't as great as I was expecting. I did like the post match angle where Austin leaves Shawn to get beaten up and goes after the Hitman instead. That fit the Stone Cold character perfectly.

Best Match of the Decade So Far?
Australian Pride replied to Toshiaki Koala's topic in General Wrestling
I voted for the Rock/HHH ironman from Judgement Day 2000. Close behind for mine would be Rock/Austin from WM17, HHH/Austin vs Benoit/Jericho from Raw in 2001, and Jericho/Rock from No Mercy 2001. I rate Eddie/Brock from NWO 2004 very highly as well. -
It's been said a hundred times before, but on SD they need to let the cruiserweights wrestle their own style, and give them enough time to really show what they got. The fact that London and Kidman are feuding is a good start, especially since the CW title isn't part of their picture, but I'll reserve judgement until we see if they get more than 5 minutes for their match. There should also be a CW title defense at No Mercy, but at this point I can't see any babyfaces who are ready for PPV, and not already wrestling, with the exception of maybe Funaki and Shannon Moore. Neither of these guys have been built up in any way. As an extension to that point, they need to really push the wrestling aspect in general on SD, and quit with the ridiculous storylines/comedy angles. Example - shaving Big Shows head is fine as it adds some heat to the proceedings, but shooting him with a tranquiliser dart is just retarded. They had a 3 on 1 advantage, are you telling me that between them they couldn't find a way to take him down??? Kurt snuck up behind him to shoot, why couldn't he have just clipped Show's knee from behind and then proceeded witha 3 man beatdown until he was ready to have his head shaved? Leave the out-there storylines for Raw.

Stephanie's the head of the booking - how could she NOT know about Owen? Everything goes through her at some point. And with a long running angle like this, I'm sure it goes through Vince as well. I think that in a mad scramble they all just forgot what city they were in. Probably an honest mistake, but you never know with WWE.

I voted for Cena, most of the reasons for which have already been explained. If I was looking at this in terms of personal enjoyment though, then I'd be picking Orton. Cena's stale gay innuedo crap, coupled with the lame five-knuckle shuffle and shoe pumping routine, has been grating on me for months. Orton, meanwhile, never seems to bother me, but that will change because he will be rammed down our throats even further in the lead up to Taboo Tuesday to justify them saying he 'won' the fan poll.

Notes from Taboo Tuesday Press Conference
Australian Pride replied to strummer's topic in The WWE Folder
So, assuming those 4 guys are out of the IC title list, who will it be that people can vote for to face Jericho - Christian, Shelton Benjamin, Batista and William Regal? -
Who beat Mankind at No Mercy that same year

Which WWE PPV will you be getting or watching in
Australian Pride replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in General Wrestling
If this whole 'public vote' thing actually amounts to some decent build then I would get Taboo Tuesday. It looks like they may have a HBK/Christian match, and Jericho/Edge for the IC strap. Both of those could be good given time. If they completely shaft the public with the the World Title match then I would be less inclined to buy. -
Man, I SO wish there was a designated GTG mod who could suspend you all for making a mockery of this esteemed folder.

There's a Hurri-heel coming through!
Australian Pride replied to SuperJerk's topic in The WWE Folder
I was, but only if he sneak attacked the Rock at some point. -
I think this is where the main problem lies here between the posters and mods - some people can and do make their point in a couple of lines (or less). Others seem to think that writing a lengthy essay for every post is the way to go, because they like to analyse. Who's right and who's wrong? Answer - nobody!

There's a Hurri-heel coming through!
Australian Pride replied to SuperJerk's topic in The WWE Folder
I'd love to see him cheap shot the Rock during his next 'surprise' appearance, and then trash talk about Rock for the next month or two so, and then Rock shows up again and throws out the challenge - Rock/Hurricane at WM21! Won't happen, but would be nice. Better than a feud with Rosey, that's for sure. -
That, I think, would be asking for trouble, because then you'd wind up having the WWE, NWA, puro and indy threads all meshed together into a big mess, not to mention the potential bickering between different factions, though if you're banning for simple name-calling, I guess it wouldn't be an issue, even if it doesn't leave much of a board (to me). This I can easily agree with. I have been posting a bit at an Australian based wrestling site called wrestling.net.au (or WNA) which follows this motto of putting all wrestling in one folder, and it comes across at times as messy and gets irritating. The only thing kept seperate is that they have a special folder for spoilers, but again, it's all the spoilers from all areas of wrestling.

If we're doing interviews we better get that Dougie Nunny dude back to do them! Not every wrestling topic needs to be analysed to death, which is what they seem to want. I think of the internet like a big dinner party. If you go to a dinner party you don't sit there stuck in serious conversations all night - there are some serious moments but you also tell/hear humorous stories, laugh at jokes, and try to have fun. Why should an internet site be any different, unless the site is an anti-abortion one or something similar which would make it understandable.

What's his classic whiny line? Something like 'but i wanted to go and pick up power converters at somewhere or other' And after watching Die Hard last night i have to throw John McClaine into the hat for manliest man.

"Maybe it's my hatred of Smarks speaking, but the "sympathy" pouring from the little fucks in the WWE folder rings competely contrived at best" This implies that he is referring to everyone. But he didn't explicitly say that all of them were? No, he didn't. You win!
-
If you think Benoit is overrated, start a thread explaining why. But don't take a victim stance against the entire folder just because most of them manage to be of the opinion that Chris Benoit is fucking great. Where did I say he was overrated? He's just over-talked about. And how many people are just Benoit bandwagon jumpers because they want to be part of the 'cool' gang? A lot of people like Benoit, and for good reason because he's a fantastic wrestler, but a lot of people also don't want to be left out so they just follow the line. That leads to Benoit overkill.

Favourite/Least Fav. Regular Spots
Australian Pride replied to The Mandarin's topic in General Wrestling
I dont hate HBK's nip up because it's a no-sell, I hate it because it's so damn predictable - Flying forearm, lay on ground for 10-15 seconds, nip up. Repeat in every match. Kurt's is predictable as well, but at least it looks decent. -

Where is this? The original post made it sound like everyone who posted about Bossman was some sort of pathetic limp-dick, which isn't actually true.
-
So, what exactly is wrong with paying some respect to someone who entertained you? Yes, I know some people have gone overboard with their tearful tributes, but a lot of people (like myself) just gave their respect and said what their favourite Bossman moment was. Don't lump us all in together.

There is no room for Sensible Randy posts because it distracts from the flow of the Benoit verbal (or should that be written) blowjob posts.
-
No, because you're right.

Nice. And for once he's speaking from experience.
