I don't buy that excuse anymore. If a program like Cal can go 10-1 then so can Notre Dame. Berkely is one of the hardest schools in the counrty to get into and they've been quite successful. I would assume that they hold their athletes to higher standards as well.

I don't think you understand that Erickson is a great COLLEGE coach. I mean he took Miami to two national titles and somehow brought Oregon State to the Fiesta Bowl. Also alumni and booster funraising at OSU literally doubled once he became head coach. Hes also 9th among active NCAA coaches for victories.

I guess it was pretty obvious Leinart was gonna win. Everyone else had one knock on them that would make it hard for them to win. Peterson is a Frosh, Bush has ok stats and is a soph, White already won it, and Smith plays in the MWAC. Not that any of those factors mattered but the voters think they do. So I think it ended up being whose the easiest to pick and that was Leinart. Without Leinart USC is still a top 3 team in the country. Last year he was neck and neck with that one guy before winning the job. With the great skill players they have out there its hard not to succeed. As much as I hate to admit it Eric Crouch's stats were pretty good. I know he couldn't throw a football worth a damn but he was an option QB and excelled at it. I still don't think he shouldve won though.

I find it pretty amusing that the coach from BCS bound Big East champ Pittsburgh would rather coach at mediocre Stanford. I guess that just shows how shitty the Big East really is.
