What the hell happened to HHH's beard?

Dude, no Knicks fan with an operating brain was happy about moving Patrick Ewing for GLENN RICE!!!! Are you fucking kidding me? That is one of the worst trades in the history of New York sports, NOTHING about it made sense. The Knicks didn't even NEED Rice, they already had Spree and Houston on the perimiter, and you could NOT, under any circumstances play the three of them at the same time. People called WFAN and complained about Ewing because that's what people who call sports shows do, they bitch. Ewing was the en vogue target that summer. Then as soon as the trade went down...people called in bitching about it. That's just the way it goes. Yeah, Ewing had a lot of pride and didn't want to take a lesser role, and he pushed himself out the door just as much as anyone. But don't confuse the issue. Knicks fan may have thought Ewing was on the decline, and they were right, some may have wanted to trade him (I didn't, but some did), and they had a legitimate argument, but nobody hated the guy because he couldn't win a championship. NOBODY could win a championship when Jordan was playing, and the game 7 loss to Houston in 94 is right on the heads of John Starks and Pat Riley, not Patrick Ewing. To suggest that Knicks fans should have cheered Angle dissing him is absurd, there was nothing strange about the way they reacted. He wasn't just dissing Ewing, he was dissing every player who suited up for the Knicks when Ewing was their center, and he got the reaction he was looking for.

I wanna play I wanna play I wanna play!

No, the rub isn't quite as valuable, but there's still a good rub to give there, and giving it to a guy who, like I said, is on the verge of retirement himself just isn't good business. Use it on someone who's a strong part of the future of your company, if not Cena than someone else, but not a 40 year old with a bad back and bad knees, who's already bulletproof as is. You've never seen anything pre-98 from Michaels, have you?

seriously.

LMAO, and employers don't do the same? Why do you think unions have to exert pressure in the first place, it's a give and take relationship. They're there to level the playing field and provide for checks and balances, to keep things fair for both sides. Like I said, sometimes unions can overstep their bounds and get greedy, but they pay for it, and the same can be said of employers. True economic freedom doesn't entitle exmployers to take advantage of their workers, which is where the need for unions came from in the first place, shit treatment of workers and shit labor laws. Walmart is notoriously one of the worst places of employment and a socio-economic disaster, funny you should bring them up. anyway, I wish Lesnar would just go play football in Europe, f'n crybaby

When the fuck did he beat up his wife? I like how you tagged that with "or whatever" to cover your ass when you pull shit out of it See, THIS is the effect of anti-Iverson brainwashing!

Am I the only one who thought Rock totally ruined this match by stalling and grandstanding rather than trying to have an intense competition? I got that he was going for that Mania XVIII vibe, but it just wasn't happening, it came off shallow, and I thought it really hurt Goldberg off the bat as Rock's overacting really upstaged him. IMO of course, I know some people dug it, but I just thought there was so much more done wrong than right.

There isn't. Thomas Jefferson coined the phrase Seperation of Church and State in 1802 letter. Freedom of Religion, isn't about Seperation of Church and State. It's allowing people to worship how they deem fit, and says the federal gov't cannot tell people who to worship. "Seperation of Church and State" and "the federal gov't cannot tell people who to worship" are just two sides of the same coin. Now, yes, but the climate was different when the constitution was drafted. The logical application in modern times is a complete seperation of specific religion from state, nothing wrong with broad generalities in that regard, "god" can mean anything to anyone, and that's fine, but christians use the fact that we were basically founded as a christian state to hijak the issue and spin interpretation of the language. Rather than broaden the scope of the language they wish to narrow it and make it exclusive rather than inclusive.

Well, unions often get greedy, they take a cue from the employers, get a chip on their shoulder, and it becomes push v. shove with both sides getting mad stubborn over simple issues. I won't get into the whole history of worker unions in this country dating back to the industrial revolution, but rest assured that they are a "necessary evil" to keep the playing field level, in all professions.

Not financially viable for most guys. Pro-wrestling is classified as an extreme high-risk occupation by health care/insurance agencys, pretty much untouchable because they're guaranteed to lose money dealing with guys that are hurt so often, and the premiums are so high for the wrestlers to compensate for that that it just isn't an option until someone has a large nest egg, which your average wrestler will never have. That's why Hennig is considered a genius, because he saved his money early on, got the Lloyds of London policy, then milked it for everything it was worth until WCW threw a huge contract his way. for your average up and coming wrestler health insurance is out of the question, and if you're lucky enough to get a job with McMahon you cross your fingers that he takes care of you. To his credit, most of the time he does (Droz, Nowinski for example), but you know, it's a risky business, no sure things, and McMahon isn't offering guaranteed health coverage for the same reason insurance companys aren't jumping to do business with wrestlers, it's bad business... This is basically the main reason why wrestlers need a union, but with the current climate, the chances of it happening are less than it ever was. Even the most vocal champions of the idea, Ventura and Piper, have given up and danced with the devil again. Sammartino is the only notable hold out in terms of sticking by his stance on the issue.

A reliable utility OF and backup 2B, a full season from Tony Womack, a productive Jason Giambi, a productive Mike Stanton, a healthy Kevin Brown, Wright and Pavano not disapointing.......not too much to ask

That .gif in Czech's sig is awesome. And Iverson wants out of Phila.? I don't buy it.
-
No. Just no. The tabloid media attempted to tear down Ewing. That was not representative of the average Knicks fan. Ewing got a standing O when he returned to MSG with Seattle, standing O when he returned with Orlando, standing O when he was coaching with Washington, standing O coaching with Houston......you get the point.

I second this. I'd also be interested to see either Horsemen v. Raven/Saturn match

You're right, it's not a choice at all. You go out at SummerSlam v. Cena, because then it actually matters and helps build someone up. Giving a retirement rub to a guy who is on the verge of retirement himself is beyond retarded. I would hate to see Angle's last match be with Michaels. Plus, like someone mentioned, there's good backstory with Angle and Cena, and if anything can legitimize Cena as a top guy it's not going over JBL, it's being the guy to retire Kurt F'n Angle (see: HHH/Mick Foley) But this is all based on one man's speculation anyway, so I'm not putting any stock in it yet.

That's not entirely true, people certainly have high expectations for the Twins, they're perennial favorites in that division and many "experts" picked them to beat NY in the playoffs last year. They certainly have the pedigree and experience to be considered a favorite, especially when teams like Florida and Anaheim are able to win. But agreed on the Yankees, with the money they spend anything less than a WS appearance has to be considered a disapointment for them, and even that isn't enough for most people.
-
IMO the Twins HAVE to win a championship in the next couple years to avoid being branded one of the biggest chokers of all-time, right along with the Braves. They go to the playoffs every year and never get it done, and right now they have everything in place to win, great pitching, veteran talent, blue chip talent, a highly regarded manager, etc. etc.

Trade him to Notre Dame.
-
No, see, Freddie talked BEFORE and after the game, that makes him the biggest man of all....
-
No disrespect to Michaels, but I think he'd come off a lot better with the benefit of post-production, editing, greater variation of camera angles etc. on his matches. He's definitely lost a couple steps and it's noticable when the show's live and more dependant on the hard camera. Plus, he's run every possible program there is for him on RAW unless he's willing to drop down and work with a Simon Dean or Hassan. He's done HHH ad nauseum, Flair, Jericho, Christian, Edge, Orton, Batista Kane, Benoit.....all the top guys. Lots of fresh matchups for him on SD.

There was an NWA Mid-Atlantic show in Seoul, Korea that Hall was supposed to work, but he showed up "in no condition to perform" so TNA took him off the PPV as punishment.
