And good point on Jericho not getting the liontamer yet. IF he goes over in the blowoff by liontamer submission it should be a huge deal, as Benoit NEVER taps out (unless the Rock steals the crossface ), but the follow up with Jericho would probably negate whatever rub he gets from that

The work was excellent, as expected from those two, but it was SUCH a fucking tease. No way in hell a submission match should be so short, and Jericho got like no offense in. There's only two ways they can justify this match being so short. 1) It leads to a shift in Jericho's character to being more badass, and 2) It's building to a LONG match at Wrestlemania, which puts it in the "leave them wanting more" category if they're going to try and sell Mania to the workrate crowd on this match

Why? You can look at the pictures anytime you want for free over the internet. I do not understand why anyone actually buys porn anymore. I agree. Nobody should buy porn anymore. The Internet has made buying porn obsolete. *reminds me of an awesome Mr. Show skit*

At the time, with Hogan stealing his thunder, I would agree. But after Yoko killed Hogan, got booked as a monster for a year, and returned the job clean at Mania X, it didn't seem as bad. Arn Anderson jobbing the TV title to Renegade is EASILY the worst IMO.

And the Rock's 50/50 finisher was an ELBOW DROP. Cena's finisher is a fucking FIREMAN'S CARRY. I can think of an assload of finishers less believeable than Curt Hennig's, which was unique to him, and best of all over with the audience as a legitimate end to a match. Hennig sold punches better than most people sold finishers True, but turning this into a Hennig appreciation thread seems fitting.

I have a request: If anyone has the 10 man tag from IYH: Canadian Stampede I would LOVE to see that match again, I haven't seen it since the live airing of the PPV and have been looking for it online to no avail for a few years now.

HBK-Jarrett, IC Title match from the 2nd IYH PPV. By FAR my favorite Jarrett match of all-time. Easy ****1/4 in my book. http://s32.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=04KOLYH...QK286ZCXV12YY4W

You read my fucking mind. How the fuck is this an "interesting take on his death." The "article" is nothing of the sort, it's simply a critique of his wrestling career and persona, and a flimsy one at that. His "points" against Hennig are so piss-poor. Hennig was "out of place" in the late 90's because he'd wrestled in the late 80's? Tell that to the literally hundreds of other wrestlers whose succesful careers spanned the same time frame. Was HBK out of place in the late 90's? How about Undertaker? Hogan? Sting? FLAIR? And his costume looks like something out of Saturday Night Fever? A singlet? WTF?

2nd Akio-London match http://s7.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2RRIA029BTC7W3H1KDMFW734QO Jarrett-Michaels coming next If anyone can tell me how to rip matches off of DVD, I've got a shitload of Vader and Benoit stuff I can upload....

Freddie "I don't know when to keep my fucking mouth shut" Mitchell had a whopping ONE catch last night. Consider his 15 minutes over the moment Vinatieri kicked off.

Basketball wise, he's up there, though the Celtics got lucky through the territorial draft system, as their territory was a hotbed for basketball talent at the time, and they just generally had the most talented rosters, plus the only guy who could really contain Chamberlain. But Red was GM too, so that counts for something. For my money it's John Wooden, though for me it's a really tough debate, probably because I'm more of a basketball historian than a football historian.

Because when you think of Flair, Kevin Nash is always the first name that pops in your head

I think of her as more of a dancing coke can myself

I think he's asking WHY the bookers put him in that PPV IC Title match in the first place, when he was just a midcard tag wrestler and not slated for any sort of singles push.

Bret Hart v. 1-2-3 Kid from 1994. Really good face/face match, though it's clipped down to 16 minutes from the original 20+ http://s35.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=05UIL18...GK2NT4GXAUK300F

Coach K gets restraining order against Dick Vitale

"100 BUCKS FOR ME YOU FUCKFACES!" -
It's true. That's just the collective personality of the team, fueled by Belichick's coaching philosophy, where they believe that they must work harder than everyone else to be successful rather than simply relying on god-given talent. This is why belichick drafts the way he does, going for smart, hard-working players rather than the guys with the best combine stats. He's building a system, and that system is predicated on the underdog mindset and the hunger to prove themselves to the world. Does it make sense? Three super bowls says, "yes!"

Ric Flair v. Bret Hart from late 91, I believe this is their first ever match. http://s24.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1GTWVCW...MU3Q9WNMK1E9NI2

They should replace her with a heel turned Torrie Wilson, who in her current role as "resident blonde chick" offers absolutely nothing to the show.

Eddie Guerrero & Arn Anderson v. Ric Flair & Randy Savage - Slamboree 96 http://s27.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1WFWUWA...2P3LYR61LFF2USD It's a really short match, but just awesome work by all 4 men

I generally prefered WCW's matches, they had stuff with the cruisers and Benoit that the WWF couldn't touch, and guys always got a lot of time in the ring. But his was of course counterbalanced by the senior circuit at the top of the card, and some brutal PPV matches. The WWF had better wrestling on top and a better style with the crazy all-over brawls, but the midcard brightspots were restricted to stuff like Kaientai matches, Owen-Shamrock, Rock-Shamrock, Rock-HHH, X-Pac-Jarrett and stuff like that, which while good wasn't nearly as good as the cruisers over in WCW. Overall though, the WWF was the more consistently entertaining product IMO. So while I generally prefer good wrestling to Sportz Entertainment, it's hard to go against the WWF, because it was just generally a more fun product.

When did you know WWE would regain the #1. spot
Precious Roy replied to Vern Gagne's topic in General Wrestling
The Hart Foundation feud with Austin, definitely, that was IMO much more exciting than the nWo dominating Nitro. Honestly, I thought the nWo had ran it's course once the roster bloated so much, and it was the great workers on the undercard that I was tuning in for, not the main angles. Pretty much anything the Stone Cold character did in late 96 and 1997 was more compelling than anything WCW produced. And once the original DX formed, combined with Austin and The Rock both on fire, I knew it was just a matter of time before the WWF pulled ahead.
