I can't see New Jack's mic skills working in that role at all, and Hassan and Davari are both competent on the mic, what's the point of adding a 3rd talker? NEW JACK + SNITSKY!

The Monday Night RAW Thread (January 17th 2005)

Michaels looked real rusty, yeah. He looked stiff as hell coming to the ring and warming up before the match. Hopefully he can shake it off in the next couple of weeks. What an AWFUL way to end what had been a fairly entertaining show (in large part due to the Toronto audience). Who's brilliant idea was it to put Kane/Snitsky on AFTER Benoit/Jericho when Benoit/Jericho was built up as the main event the whole week and during the show? And Snitsky is SO fucking brutal, talking to Kane in full view of the camera and then LEGIT SMILING and LOOKING AROUND when he's supposed to have been sent STRAIGHT TO HELL. How can we take JR's hyperbole seriously when Snitsky BLANTANTLY breaks kayfabe and makes the whole thing look like a joke? Jericho/Benoit was good, tight work w/ a pleasantly surprising finish, but man, it would have been so much more memorable given more time and not being the lead in to the WORST program on RAW in recent memory (and that's saying something). -
I can't believe three people pick Atlanta over New England. Based on what? Michael Vick is an incredible talent, but the Patriots aren't going to get beat by one man. The Falcons' recievers are a joke, and while I'm sure Vick would break off a few of his signature runs, the Patriots wouldn't let him dictate the pace of the game. It's not going to be 60 minutes of people chasing Mike Vick. For every positive run he gets there'll be a handfull of incompletes and meaningless scrambles. Warrick Dunn shredded STL, but let's be real, he would not repeat that performance against NE, and we know that ATL's defense is vulnerable when facing a two-front offense.

New England over Philly. I'm tempted to pick New England over Atlanta, and that's probably what it will be, but it's tough to pick Philly losing a 4th straight NFC Title game. Either way New England has got this though.

Gordon is making a nice run, but right now Okafor has it locked down, and he is playing on an expansion team whereas the Bulls are almost completely made up of recent first round picks, so it's not exactly a fair comparison. 15-11-1.5 blocks, 4th in the league in double-doubles for Emeka.

I don't think Yoko had enough gas to go three matches at that point Quarterfinals: Shawn Michaels d. The Roadie (12 minutes, superkick) Hakushi d. Bob Holly (13 minutes, praying powebomb) Jeff Jarrett d. Savio Vega (14 minutes, cheating) Bam Bam Bigelow d. Jean Pierre Lafitte (8 minutes, diving headbutt) [WWF tag team championship] Owen/Yoko over Luger/Davey Boy (18 minutes, Owen missle dropkick to Davey followed by Yoko legdrop) - Owen & Davey do most of the legwork Semifinals: Shawn Michaels d. Hakushi (22 minutes, rana rollup) Jeff Jarrett d. Bam Bam Bigelow (10 minutes, Dibiase/Roadie interference) [strap Match, touch all 4 corners to win] Bret Hart d. Jerry Lawler (16 minutes, piledriver at each corner) [WWF Championship, Fatal 4 Way Elimination by pin, submission or over the top] Diesel v. Sid v. Undertaker v. Mabel (6 minutes, Taker/Diesel double clothesline to Mabel. 13 minutes, Sid & Diesel team up to eliminate dominant Undertaker. 16 minutes, Jacknife to Sid) Finals: Shawn Michaels d. Jeff Jarrett (31 minutes, superkick) almost two hours of bell time, filled out w/ entrances, celebrations interviews and hype packages

La Resistance win tag titles at house show
Precious Roy replied to JoeDirt's topic in The WWE Folder
what is a MNM? A really over stable/tag team in OVW. I met Joey Matthews last month (and again next Saturday) and he is a really cool, down to earth guy. I'm all for him getting a push. What's MNM stand for...or is it like DDT and doesn't have a meaning for the letters? MatthewsNitroMelina There's precedent for that being done, so yeah, there's no reason not to. It was done with Austin/HBK and the Hollywood Blondes off the top of my head, and I know there's other cases as well. Please explain why putting COACH in the match makes more sense?!? -
LET THE BLOWJOBS COMMENCE!

QB: 1. Daunte Culpepper 2. Peyton Manning (could probably flip him and Daunte, but I like Daunte's size and strength. Surround him with the Indy O and watch out) 3. Tom Brady (I shouldn't have to defend this, but people hate on him so here you go. He had a not so great year, too many picks, but people forget that his wide recievers aren't really that special, basically a group of cast-offs, and everyone on the list but Vick has better targets. Plus Branch, his "favorite reciever" was out for an extended period and rusty when he came back. Give Brady a Moss, Harrison, Owens or Holt to throw to. I've seen all but a few games the guy has played in the NFL, and he's a great QB, who makes the players around him better) 4. Donovan McNabb 5. Michael Vick (just scratching the surface, and the guy is a winner, in a couple years he might be on top of the list) On the fringe are Pennington and Rothelsberger. I'm not totally sold on Ben yet, but he deserves an honorable mention. Pennington is great when he's healthy, which he often isn't. He proved a lot to me against SD though. RB: (biased towards younger backs here since the shelf life is so short for most guys. Martin is a true anomaly, but he's only got a year or two left so I had to leave him off) 1. LT 2. Jamal Lewis 3. Shaun Alexander 4. Priest Holmes (injurys scare me, but he's still relatively young) 5. Edge Julius Jones, Brian Westbrook, Kevin Jones, Clinton Portis and Corey Dillon just miss. Dillon has made me a believer this year, but he's probably only got a couple years left on top of his game. Portis I feel has great talent as an inside/out runner but can't make something out of nothing and was handcuffed by a bad line/QB this season. Jones showed huge potential and will probably break out as a top back next year. Westbrook has the run/catch skills that everyone loves, but is undersized and fairly injury prone, probably ends up like a Warrick Dunn. Julius Jones was the closest to making the top 5, like him a lot, I want to put him in place of Edge, but need to see another season out of him. WR: 1. Randy Moss 2. Terrell Owens 3. Marvin Harrison 4. Chad Johnson (was hurt by the QB switch a bit though he still compiled great stats. The guy is prime time, major size and speed combo w/ great hands) 5. Roy Williams (looked great before the ankle injury and I give him the edge over Holt due to his age) Tory Holt, Andre Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Reggie Wayne just miss, and I could probably put the 4-5 in any sort of order. 1-3 is locked though.

This has blessing in disguise written all over it, as long as Kobe isn't out for a couple months or something. Lamar Odom hasn't looked comfortable at all playing with Kobe, the way he balled last night is the way he did every game for Miami last year, and now he gets to step up and assert himself, hopefully drilling into Kobe's head the fact that, hey, Lamar's a damn good player and there's no shame in taking a backseat to him at times. That's why I keep mentioning Jordan/Pippen, because Jordan understood that in order for Pippen to play to his potential he had to let him take control at times, and Kobe doesn't seem to understand that, and if he does he doesn't show it.

Well the Knicks make out, rock n' roll! but seriously, it looks like a pretty good deal for everyone, especially Minnesota since Marshall should be a great fit with KG, and Eddie Jones will play harder than Spree has. I've got a feeling it won't happen though, none of these rumoured NBA deals ever go down.

I'm pretty sure vince gave him an "out" of the contract and Bret accepted it and then signed the WCW contract. If there was any sort of legal dispute Bret certainly would have exploited it after the screwjob
-
I agree. Rome is very entertaining on the radio, not as entertaining as he used to be, but pretty much every media personality falls off once they reach their peak of popularity, but his style just doesn't translate to TV. I like the guy well enough, but his show sucks.
-
Odom's average stats playing with Kobe are quite sub-par considering how talented he is. 14-10-2.7 going into tonights game, which is a major disapointment considering how talented he is. He should be averaging at least 4 assists a game, but because of Kobe's over-dominance of the ball Odom's dynamic game has been reduced to a one dimensional one. Kobe has done nothing for Lamar Odom. EDIT* it should be a Jordan/Pippen dynamic, but Kobe manages to stifle Odom's all-around game and makes him basically an offense rebounder, as much as Odom praises Kobe when the cameras are on.

Yeah, that whole Taxi accident thing was pretty fucked up. He seemed really shaken up by it from the interviews I saw/read, and he'd had a great year before it happened and kind of fell off after that.

Vikings don't want Joe Buck to announce the game
Precious Roy replied to MikeJordan23's topic in Sports
How is it hypocrisy when the commercial is MOCKING egomaniacs in the first place? Hell, Budweiser's crappy tagline is "True", so Leon's an egotistical dick at heart, therefore he acts like one. Sheesh, those ads aren't exactly rocket science to figure out. those commercials celebrate the "Leon" character, give me a break man. Every one of those commercials had Joe Buck bowing to Leon's whim and doing shit that helped celebrate "leon" the two of them standing back to back to show off their "good sides" and Buck with his "RAMA LAMA DING DONG" shit. what you don't get is that there is no difference between what you call "mockery" and WHY Moss does his shit, it's the very same thing in the end, it's simply meant to entertain. -
I stated my opinion on the Jays in the off-season thread, but basically I think 2005 is a development year for them, and I don't see any way they can reach .500. Eric Hinske returning to form would be nice, but that's a crapshoot, and the team is pretty average overall. If Halladay, Wells, Cat and Lilly have great seasons it's still up to the role players to carry them past Baltimore, who has a better offense and bullpen at first glance, and I think Ponson will rebound this year. Plus Tampa has some legit talent and a good manager, and it wouldn't surprise me to see Toronto finish last in the AL East.

Kind of left field, but what about making Glavine a reliever? It worked for Smoltz....
-
and hey, I was right about Odom stepping up. Say what you will about Kobe, he's got mad game, but it's not a coincidence that Odom has trouble producing with Kobe on the court.

That's the EXACT topic someone made at another sporting board.. man, that's ironic. What board? I want to read it

Well the Rockets can look on the bright side. At least they didn't draft Jay Williams. As bad as he looks at times Yao is still averaging 19 points and 8 rebounds. Yeah, I know his numbers look good, but every single time I watch the Rockets play, which is a lot because they're always on national TV, the guy plays like a fool. He misses asignments on both D and O, makes bad decisions at critical moments, and just generally does nothing to help his team win. He doesn't make the impact that he should, he basically plays like a poor man's Rik Smits. The guy obviously has talent and has shown flashes of dominance, but his game is out of whack and he too often plays like a pussy.
-
Kobe with a fluke ankle injury, and what looked like a great game is now completely pedestrian Oh well, maybe Lamar Odom can step up and show people why he was traded for Shaq, cuz he's played like shit when Kobe's in the lineup
-
I think Yao is actually regressing as a player, what the fuck is he doing running out to the top of the key to double Vince Carter?!?!!
