Fuck it, it's not PC but Artest did what most of us would do in that situation. I've got respect for the way he tried to handle it. First he gets attacked by Ben Wallace, pretty much unprovoked, then he's lying on the scorers table, waiting for things to calm down, and a fan gets up close and just absolutely nails him in the face with a cup of beer. I hope Artest got some good shots in on that guy, he looked like a nerdy little faggot too.
-
Good, I'm glad the ESPN guys are calling it like it is. The media is going to try and villify Artest for this, like always, but this one goes on Ben Wallace first for his fucking jab at Artest's neck after a weak foul and the Detroit fan who nailed Artest. Fucking bullshit.
-
The fans STARTED that shit. Artest got NAILED in the face with a cup when he was at the scorers table. He shouldn't have charged the fan, but the fans just made it worse. Plus that was a weak foul on Wallace anyway, Big Ben started the whole thing.

FUCK the Pistons fans!

Sweet. Go Madrid!

This is all true, but I believe we're talking about Sabu being brought in in 2000 shortly after the Radicalz jumped, which WCW was set to do until Heyman blocked it.

It hit it's peak in 1999, and anyone with a brain could see that they couldn't maintain that peak for very long. Wrestling had hit cultural overkill at that point, especially with the merchandise, and the "fad" backlash was inevitable. Trying to ride that wave in 99 and gambling the entire promotion on it was a BIG mistake. ECW would still be around today if they'd gone slow and steady. As for TNN, that was the last straw. TNN used ECW to test the market for the potential deal with Titan. They were never commited to ECW as a brand, and like the last poster said, all ECW got was exposure, but even that wasn't worth the sacrifices they had to make.

Flair and Batista had that AWFUL tables match with the Dudleys at Royal Rumble. I try to block that team from my mind, they never really clicked with me for whatever reason and I think Flair was above holding a tag belt. If he's going to hold any belt before he retires it has to be the big gold one.

I'm trying to think of Evolution's memorable moments..... They cock-blocked every contender to HHH's title (standard heel stable fare) They (but mainly Orton) fucked with retired legend Mick Foley They had RAW's GM in their back pocket .......... What would everyone else list as the most memorable aspects of Evolution? I've enjoyed the group at times, but I can't say they've provided anything that I'd consider classic moments like I would with the Horsemen, Heenan Family, Dangerous Alliance, Triple Threat, Raven's Nest/Flock, nWo, Hart Foundation, original DX or even the Corporation or Ministry. They're a solid group of antagonists with a very good internal dynamic when it was the four involved, but other than HHH emulating/subjugating Flair and Orton/Batista being molded into players what will they be remembered for?

Dude, this is the company that employed Public Enemy, ICP and members of the Misfits among others. This is the company that would sign ECW talent (Sandman, Mikey Whipwreck) and sit them on the sidelines for months just so ECW wouldn't have them. It's a fact that they tried to bring in Sabu again in the late 90's. As stated, the reason ECW went from being profitable on a modest scale to a failure on a large scale is that Paul E. made some very bad business decisions. I think he saw the window closing on the boom, saw the constant talent raids depleting his roster, and he wanted to get in on the bonanza before it was over. It's clear that he takes a fair share of credit as the catlyst of the boom, as well he should, and he didn't want to be the odd man out in reaping the benefits. He should have just gone much slower, made the gradual national expansion as previously stated. PPV wasn't a grave mistake IMO but could have been handled better, maybe they should have waited another couple years, the video games, magazines and toys were bad moves, going to TNN was a very bad move, they just tried to do to much too soon in a market that was already flooded with product and on it's way down.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

Re: HHH The "promise" of a title reign was part of the contract he signed AFTER flirting with WCW in late 98/early 99 or so. I'd say it wasn't in such explicit terms that he could sue for breach of contract if he DIDN'T get the belt, but my guess is it was a mutual understanding of his spot, much like the type of deal Vince offers anyone he's serious about. WCW was offering more money, Vince offered a guaranteed top spot and a championsip push, WCW could never offer him that so he stuck with Vince. He made the right decision, as he would have been nothing more than the next Scott Hall in WCW. Not a bad spot, but nothing that would have got him to "Cerebral Assassin" levels. That fucking idiot was indeed Bischoff, confirmed by both Flair and AA. -
So you think Indiana was a shoo-in to beat LA last season?

How many people REALLY looked at that and thought of a negative stereotype?!? Honestly. It never even crossed my mind, I just thought the thing was cheesier than hell because TO is a total goofball and it left me wondering if he always acts that way when women try to seduce him. And it was TO because it's fuckin TO, he's the biggest draw to that game, the biggest star in the league right now. If some white boy was the a-list star they would have used him. I didn't even make that connection to, Dungy's words, "Kobe Bryant," (LMFAO) when I saw it. And why is the idea of a black man and a white woman STILL considered a negative stereotype in our society, BY A BLACK MAN NO LESS?!!?! Seems like the people complaining about that are the one's with the hangups. This whole thing is beyond retarded.

I just watched this, and I'm glad Heyman called out Vince for jobbing Tazz to HHH during the whole Awesome debacle. I didn't really think it was a fair thing to do, loaning Taz in response for a job that would basically kill the credibility of ECW's belt, and I'm pretty sure Heyman wouldn't have agreed to that if it had been put in explicit terms. I didn't like it at the time, the way they jobbed Benoit and Taz to HHH clean rather than building something meaningful from two historic moments, and the more history makes it set in the less I like it
-
Hahahah, I can't wait to see all of these guys on job duty, oh wait, they're all on job duty already, they've got nothing to lose by shooting straight

Most inaccurate statement Jim Ross??

The Jericho/Benoit stuff was the worst. When they were teaming he'd call them the wrong names. When they were working each other he'd call them the wrong names. When only ONE of them was on screen he'd call them by the wrong name. It got to the point where he did it so fucking often that he and Lawler wouldn't even bother to correct it every time because it would just make him look like that much more of a retard. I'd say on average you'd get about 3 corrections for every 5 screwups. -
Oh man, I can't wait to see this! I bet McMahon's got his copy reserved already

All of the cruisers, including Helms and Tajiri who are floundering as enhancement talent and comic relief on RAW. Obviously they're good at these roles, but they're capable of much more and should be over on SD! making people care about actual wrestling again. I swear to god I could take their hoss matches and smile if they'd just throw a bone to the people who want to see actual exciting, athletic matches as opposed lumbering retards clubbing and choking and struggling to take simple bumps. McMahon always gets compared to P.T. Barnum, but Barnum understood that you have to have variety in your acts and something for everyone. Vince has got his elephants, strong men and clowns, some lions and tigers, but he ignores the trapeze, knife throwers, and guys fucking around with fire. If I'm going to the circus I'm going to see some fast paced, dangerous if not properly trained shit! The only thing I can think of is that he wants to drive all the cruiserweight fans to TNA, except he didn't count on TNA's booking to be as inept as his.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

Man, I wish you hadn't brought that up. They showed that shit every week for like two months, they were so fucking desperate to keep Konnan over. Didn't it have a remix? Anything music related in WCW, apart from entrance themes, was a horrible disaster. Music videos, KISS, Master P, whoever the fucking country & western dudes they brought in were, THAT FUCKING DJ, it all sucked. Re: Apocalypse, I've never liked that name first of all and I think it's just something the net cooked up because they needed something to call them. The angle definitely would have got over with the WCW crowd, probably get them pushed into a feud with the nWo if people aren't interfering with the booking, but I always wondered who the 4th Horseman was going to be. AA was already out or on the way out of active duty. Jarrett wasn't over at that point (the dicking around with the Horsemen with no payoff would have been rectified though, maybe he would have picked up heat from that), Mongo was still green, they would have needed a strong 4th man. I can't think of anyone at that time who would have fit the Horsemen other than Luger, but I wonder who WCW had in mind. -

I think that might be the last truely classic moment WCW offered until the RAW/Nitro simulcast. I remember being fucking pumped because Goldberg looked like a total badass and it actually had me interested in the nWo 2000 because he was set to make an awesome babyface. The blood going everywhere totally put it over the top, I just didn't think he was stupid enough to do an angle like that and actually fuck himself up so bad. The angle fucking DIED when he went out. -
I read the spoilers like eight hours ago and the only thing that I can remember wanting to see is the Bashams (hopefully) stiffing the TE kids. Does my memory suck or is that seriously the best they can offer?

The Shaq foul on Desmond Mason. The game was on ESPN. I didn't think that was flagrant. Dez Mason was driving right down the lane and Shaq stepped up and made a play. If I'm the coach I'd like to see him take the charge, but there isn't anything dirty about jumping for a block and giving body.

I'm still kind of new around here, what part of what he said got him banned?

I could see myself warming up to the gimmick if it had been played for midcard comedy from the start. It never needed a world title involved. If they wanted him to carry the belt for this long they needed to accentuate the serious side of the character, they can't have it both ways and book him as a main-eventer and a comedy act at the same time, AS A HEEL, there's just too much working against the character in that scenario, first and foremost the talent level of the player.

I think the logic behind Figgins is that he was a utility man who played every position but pitcher and catcher, giving the Halos flexibility to deal with all of their injuries. Sound enough logic, I can forgive it if it's from an Anaheim writer, MVP voting is hardly an exact science.
