    TNA's next PPV: Turning Point

I'm not saying Monty is Goldberg, and Jarrett sure as hell isn't Hogan, what I was talking about was simply the style of match they should work when Jarrett finally drops the belt to him. Think about the Georgia Dome match and that's what I want to see between them, no bullshit with run-ins and guitars and a schmozz finish that cuts of Monty at the knees. Is that clear enough? Monty is over with TNA's audience, everyone who saw Victory Road seems impressed with his performance, and the rub of working this 6 man with the big names should increase his sphere of popularity. It's the best case scenario at this point considering they've already brought in the dinosaurs. Would you rather see Jeff Hardy in the six man?

    TNA's next PPV: Turning Point

In regards to a discussion in the OAO thread about whether or not the short AJ-Petey match would lead to a longer rematch, well, hate to say I told you so, but this 6 man was pretty obvious and it's apparent that TNA isn't interested in giving more than 10 minutes to the X guys because they think packing a ton of action into a shorter time period is the way to do things. Can't argue that point about most of their workers, but with guys like AJ, Petey, Sabin and Daniels they have enough talent to carry longer matches, spread out the action, and keep the audience engaged. There's a crowd out there that will only order shows on the promise of long workrate matches, and I think TNA made a mistake not throwing them a bone last night. Anyway, That's exactly how they need to do it. It's too soon to put the title on Brown, despite what some posters in this thread think, and that 6 man will do a LOT to establish him as a prime time player. December/January will be all about Monty, but for now it's good to get him that rub from Savage, Hall and Nash, that's what you're paying them for, and hopefully the people that come to see them stay to see Brown when he goes one on one with Jarrett and hopefully gets a Goldberg-Hogan style victory.

Hogan was backstage? No shit.... It's sad to see how much like WCW TNA has become, but I guess that was always the idea. At least when they go down in flames it will be spectacular.

    Old "Cactus Jack" Interview

Great post, thanks for that! Prophetic...... Did you ever read Foley's first book? Or better yet did you ever actually WATCH old school Cactus Jack or original Mankind? They're different versions of the same character, aspects of Foley's psyche amped up to the brink, and based on the sheer awesomeness and success that Mankind brought him I'd say he made the right choice.

    WWF mass firings

When was Kama released? I thought the time he was off of TV between "The Supreme Fighting Machine" and The NOD he was just hurt or off TV because they didn't have anything for him. Far as I know he was under contract the whole time..... That sounds about right. Bundy, Tatanka and Volkoff were let go when they phased out Dibiase's corporation, Heavenly Bodies were taken off TV and when Pritchard returned he was "Zip." I think Well Dunn may have been sooner, Neidhart was only used short-term for the Bret/Owen feud and was gone by early 95. Also, add Bigelow to the list as he was booked like shit and WWE showed no interest in retaining him/encouraged him to leave in late 95. There was a lot of turnover in 95/96, so I'm sure there are others.... I don't remember any sort of massive layoff like this 10 in 3 days shit we've seen, so unless the people mentioning this can give a definitive list with dates I think it's just a case of time clouding people's memorys

    Triple H's Most Embarassing Loss...

Most of these matches mentioned after HHH was an established champion weren't "embarrasing" as they were done what they were booked to do, put more heat on him as a heel. The loss to the Brawler was brilliant booking that put heat on HHH, nothing embarrasing about that. I'd put any loss to Henry O. Godwin first, easily, as he was just an embarrasing character to witness, and being involved in a protracted feud with him was embarrasing in itself, and certainly death to his heat at the time. Second IMO is the IC Title loss to Rocky Maivia, as HHH had been a reliable champion with decent heat and Rocky had NO heat and was very green. It made HHH look bad, and Rocky's reign sucked bigtime. I'd say the Warrior squash is a distant third, but he DID come out of it with more heat than before due to the solid buildup, so it wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be. It was meant to clean the slate for him after the midcard embarrasment of the HOG feud, give him a fresh start, and in a lot of ways it did that as people started taking him seriously and everyone EXPECTED AND WAS HAPPY about the squash. The Kliq incident put that push he was in line for on hold obviously, but still....

Face/heel turns during Russo's WCW stint

That was in the time period between Russo's booking stints, when Kevin Sullivan & co. were in charge. Some of these turns are just mind boggling. I do NOT remember Bret Hart joining the New Blood.

    Vince McMahon

Yup, that's decidedly not old school. From SD! late 2003/early 2004 when Vince interrupted Ernest Miller's segment with Sable.

    WWE in Puerto Rico?

I'd pay money to see fans riot at a WWE event....
  10. It was part of the reason he left. The 4th member of Eddie's team? BOB HOLLY! It's so obvious! Injuring Carlito Cool was all part of his evil plan to get a PPV bonus! The 4th member of Angle's team? Matt Morgan

I hope that all of you who buy these figures will instantly job Jarrett to your HHH action figure.

    This week in the NBA

I like Boston's team too, lots of talent there, one of the smartest players in the game in GP and a bonafide mega-star in Paul Pierce. I pick the Knicks to win the Atlantic because, lol, I'm a homer, but still, they're a virtual lock for the playoffs. My early Eastern Conference picks: 1. Detroit 2. Indiana 3. Miami 4. Cleveland 5. New York 6. Philly 7. Boston 8. Washington I'd like to say Toronto makes it, they've got the talent, but I've seen them fall apart too many times down the stretch to have any faith in them. Washington has a lot of young but not THAT young talent. Hughes and Jamison have been around the block now, and Arenas, if healthy, will have a great year. Throw in Jarvis Hayes and a solid crop of young big men highlighted by Kwame Brown (make or break for him this year, he needs to become consistent on a nightly basis) and Etan Thomas (when healthy), and I think they can make some noise this year. My 5,6,7 could go in any order, the Atlantic is really a crapshoot with them. New Jersey is on the outside looking in this year, they'll get off to a horrible start, go on a decent run when Kidd comes back in mid-December, and then fall towards the bottom of the pack after Kidd is traded for young players and draft picks. My gut feeling is that when Kidd eventually gets traded it will be a multiple team deal with someone else's (whatever playoff bound team lands Kidd) veterans going somewhere for a lottery pick headed to Brooklyn (better get used to it now).

    OAO Victory Road Thread

For everyone who is saying Williams/Styles should have gotten more time... I do not. I loved that match... it was similar to Kidman/London from WWE, except even better. The Reason I think It shouldn't have gotten more time is because Petey won... and it makes you want more.. more for the next ppv, AJ vs Petey Williams at the NEXT PPV with 20-25 + minutes makes you wanna order it doesnt it? Now if they completely skip this, and jam to "rematch" into Impact in about 5 minutes... then it was stupid to make that match 10 minutes. But if they go the road I said, and book it for the 2nd Pay Per View... this match was amazing as it was.. and I want more... and ill damn sure order TNA's 2nd PPV if it even has a remote chance of having a decent supporting Card to the AJ/Williams match.. I agree with that, it seems like they booked an Impact style match for the PPV, which shouldn't be happening, and it will be stupid if they do the rematch on Impact and basically give it away for free. If they do a 20+ minute rematch at the December PPV, great, but it seems like they're setting up AJ/Hardy/Savage v. JJ/Hall/Nash, so don't hold your breath....

Man, the E already rehashed the Piper angle on SD! last year. How many times is this one going to get pulled out of the mothballs?

    *SPOILERS* for Victory Road tonight

Savage is one of the few guys who's entertaining enough in a non-wrestling role for me to justify a company employing them. I still won't order the show on principal, but this news was enough to give me pause. I mean seriously, the guy is completely insane and funnier than any comedian on the planet, if you're going to pay for anything pay for the Macho Man!

    Baseball World Cup

I love the idea, I think it's going to produce some incredible baseball.... THE DREAM TEAM: LF - Barry Bonds (probably won't play, but definitely should) CF - Jim Edmonds RF - Lance Berkman 1B - Mark Teixeira 2B - Michael Young (out of position, but a more attractive option than a 38 yr old Jeff Kent) SS - Derek Jeter 3B - Alex Rodriguez C - Jason Varitek SP - Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Jason Schmidt, Ben Sheets, Jake Peavy, Roy Oswalt, Mark Mulder (gotta have a lefty) RP - Brad Lidge, Joe Nathan, Keith Foulke, Billy Wagner, BJ Ryan The strength of a US team will be in it's pitching, as looking around the league many of the top position players are products of South America. I'm not quite sure who all is from Venezuala, the Dominican and Puerto Rico, but I'm sure all three will field stong teams.

    Evaluating Free Agent Outfielders

After Beltran and Drew I don't like any of these guys, and I need to see more than one healthy, productive season to be completely sold on Drew. Magglio, when healthy, is good, but the reports on his knee didn't sound good. You never like to see the word "atrophied" when talking about an athlete.

    Evaluating Free Agent Starters

I'd take that if I were Pedro. Defending the title in Boston should be more important than earning 14 mil in 2007 when he's on Anaheim's IR.
