Lashley going heel to work Cena would be great. What are the odds of it happening?

If the Cavs win a couple games and/or LeBron has a sick game the ratings will go up. Public opinion is that the Spurs will basically dominate, and the public doesn't care about San Antonio. That, and Thursday at 9:15 pm is a horrible time to start a series. I'll never understand why they don't start the games earlier.

I love Duncan, Pop and the Spurs, I love that people will actually be watching because Jordan, Tiger, Peyton, LeBron is playing. I love that everyone is going to be rooting against San Antonio because they're "boring" etc. I'm a little afraid of the Wade effect and the Spurs ability to defend James being impaired, but I'm hopeful the refs can keep that shit in check. Bowen v. LeBron is a fun matchup, Bowen is overmatched, but he can still bother LeBron enough to mess with his game. The Spurs team D will be a lot better than what the Cavs saw v. Detroit. All those wide open looks guys got won't be there, San Antonio will force guys to put it on the floor and create off of the openings that LeBron creates for them, and while Detroit offered virtually nothing in the way of paint defense (aside from fouling), Duncan might be the best paint defender in the game and the other San Antonio bigs are adept at clogging the middle. Parker is a huge mismatch against the Cavs' PGs and they don't have the personel to exploit him on the other end. I'm not going to completely discount the Cavs and I think it's a given that LeBron can will them to a win or two, but San Antonio should and probably will win. I'm hoping the oddsmakers overrate the Cavs, it could be a good opportunity to make some bank

It's fucking crazy how the Pistons just slowly let LeBron and the Cavs get in their heads and completely imploded. This is the game where you expect to see some swagger, championship pride and a fuck you attitude and they just didn't have it. I think between Flip Saunders, Rasheed and Billups the dysfunction of the team really came to the forefront. Rasheed reverted to his Portland persona of completely melting down in a do or die situation. Billups looked like he'd already filed for free agency. Flip looked clueless as usual as he hung on for dear life, inferior to his star players who are all walking around wearing Larry Brown's ring. I really thought the 4/5 of their starting five had their heads together to prove that they could do it without Larry Brown and Ben Wallace, but they peaked beating the Bulls. I think beating Big Ben was their championship and they just lost focus at the first sign of adversity after that. The Cavs and LeBron looked great. Daniel Gibson made himself a star. I hope the Spurs kick the shit out of them.

Who was it that got pissed because they didn't hire Mark Jackson? Reggie? O'Brien is a solid hire. He's similar to Rick Carlise in the sense that he'll preach defense and actually try to coach his team, but he's a Pitino guy who'll push the tempo on offense and give the green light to the outside shooters. He never had a chance in Philly. It's a safe hire for Bird as he's blowing up the team.

Fuck Kevin Youklis.

I wouldn't say LeBron coasted, more like he lacked focus at times, and it seemed like he was putting too much pressure on himself in some games. His free throw shooting was really inconsistent and he made some bad decisions/shot attempts late in games. It's a maturity thing, maybe you can chalk that up to still feeling the sting of losing last year and looking ahead toward the playoffs, or trying to strike the balance between being the playmaker and the go-to scorer. You've got to give him credit for putting it all together again and getting himself in a killer zone right now. The rest of the team really wasn't very good this year. After LeBron, Sasha Pavlovich might have been their most consistent player. Hughes and Gooden are their next best players and both are really inconsistent. Gooden has been really good in the playoffs though. Gibson has played a huge roll for them in the playoffs and didn't really do anything in the regular season. Z I think totally coasted in the regular season, but he's been valuable in the playoffs with his hustle and experience, he and Snow are the only real vets on the team and Z does a lot of little things out there to cause mismatches. Damon Jones got lit up all season long, and Snow is too old to bring it every night. The entire team has stepped up in the playoffs.

And how many of those jobs are available? And even if jobs like Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix, LA, Chicago, Cleveland etc. became available, do you think they'd hire a college guy before someone with meaningful NBA experience as a player or coach? Why are you acting like he can just pick and choose from any job he wants? Donovan spent a decade building up the Florida program and it's not going to get any better than back to back championships. Maybe he'd rather leave while on top than to take on the task of rebuilding the program. Maybe he feels like he's accomplished everything he set out to do there and wants a new challenge. He's getting a lot of money, staying in Florida, and inheriting a young team with upside in both talent and financially, reasonably low expectations and the chance to make some noise in the next couple years. What is 'retarded' about that? Even if he struggles and decides the NBA isn't for him (and I think he's got the makeup to do well and is in a good situation) he's still going to be looked at as an A+ hire for nearly every college program in the country. I don't get how anyone can knock the guy for that.

1) They were in the playoffs this year, have some promising young players and a potentially dominant young big, and have the cap room to add an all-star caliber player. They're a developing young team, not a rebuilding project. 2) Donovan doesn't have to uproot his family, which I'm sure is part of what attracted him to the job 3) He's already a legend at UF

Easy, tiger. LeBron is great, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. He's 22 though! At 22, he's carrying a worse team to the Finals then Jordan ever took there. Jordan didn't get to the Finals until he was 29 years old and he had Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant. Can you even imagine what LeBron would be like 7 years from now with some good teammates? It would be "hand out the trophy in October, no one else has a chance". This Pistons team isn't exactly the Pistons of the 80's....look at the Eastern Conference then compared to now. I'm not with the whole, "the game sucks compared to back in the day" crowd, but the league is different, and Jordan had it much harder. He ran up against F'n Bird and the Celtics his first two years, then the Pistons when they were an absolute terror. It was a great performance in an important game, but lets see the Cavs actually finish the Pistons AND play with San Antonio before all the dick sucking begins

the Spurs are awesome. Hope we get Spurs-Cavs just so America can actually tune in and witness their greatness

Where are all the Yanks fans on this board? They've been awfully quiet lately. we don't post til August
-
He also buried the franchise thereafter, did he not? Doesn't matter. When John Paxson assembles half as many championship teams, then we can put him above Krause. But until then? No. For real

ESPN is reporting that Dirk will win the MVP. Bummer.

I'm a big Clemens fan so personally I'm psyched to see him back in pinstripes. And I think it's pretty silly to say that he won't have a noticable impact. Moose, Pettitte and Wang are the only "sure things" in the rotation and 2 out of the 3 have already been injured. The stability and presence of Clemens alone will be a huge shot in the arm to this team. That said, the money is freakin absurd and I can't fault people for going crazy about it.

I give Dice-K props for battling his way through tough situations against the Yankees. Walking the bases loaded with no outs and getting out of it, then going on to pitch another couple of innings....the fact that he's got the grit to work his way out of jams should be encouraging for Sox fans. He got hit and he gave up runs, but he kept fighting.....more than I can say for Dirk Nowitzki
-
It's not the fact that Dirk couldn't dominate the Warriors, it's the fact that he didn't do ANYTHING, and just played like someone who didn't have any confidence or fire. Like, he never even worked hard to get position on offense, the a defender would front him and one would shade from behind and he'd just stand there with his hand up, STAND THERE, no effort to GET THE BALL IN HIS FUCKING HANDS. I don't care if he misses shots or isn't able to singlehandedly win games, he has to at least make an effort to be the man. Fuck him, that was a pathetic fucking display tonight. And props to you Ripper for calling this all along
-
I've been rooting for GS but this game was just fucking depressing. I've been saying all year that Dallas was overacheiving and overrated, but I still thought they'd be a tough out, not get punked the fuck out like this. Dirk Nowitzki should retire, he is fucking done. Fuck him.

Pretty weak FA class. Besides Rashard Lewis, Vince Carter and Chauncey Billups, I can see Mo Williams getting at least 6-7 mil per (Mike James was able to get that last year), and someone will pay Bibby near max even after a real down year for him. Matt Barnes and Jason Kapono have likely played their way into getting Kyle Korver/John Salmons type money. Luke Walton and Mo Pete will probably have several bidders for mid-range deals, and it will be interesting to see the market for Mickael Pietrus, I can see some team getting crazy there...

going off memory in the 90's the Knicks had Chris Dudley Scott Brooks Brad Lohaus and I think that's it

ESPN spends 10 minutes on Quinn and the Browns take the cheesehead fisherman. Good, fuck a Brady Quinn. I hope he takes a Leinart-esque drop.
