The Bucks have had injuries to Michael Redd, Maurice Williams and Charlie V. I've got a hard time knocking the Ford deal when Maurice Williams is having a better year than him, and while he's not the effortless playmaker that Ford is he is a much better shooter and defender. And Villanueva is a really well rounded player. He's streaky and has been hurt off and on all season, but he's certainly more than just a jump shooter.

The crazy thing is that they lost 3 or 4 straight to start the season. I don't think they'll win 70, but who knows, it's certainly an attainable goal at this point. It says a lot for this Mavs team that they've been so consistent, Dirk and Avery Johnson especially, but at the same time this is not that good of a team in my eyes, so I think it says as much about the mediocrity and inconsistency of the rest of the league as it does about the Mavericks ability to sustain such a high level of play game after game. The Mavs are a good team with a great go-to player, but they shouldn't be .850 winning % good. You take the other NBA teams who've had these kind of seasons and they'd all wipe the floor with the Mavs.

They're in good shape. Dirk is locked up under a max deal, Josh Howard recently signed a long term extension, and Jason Terry re-signed this past off-season. Dampier's contract could be considered an albatross, but he has played reasonably, though somewhat inconsistently, well. The rest of the roster is fluid, Stack and Croshere have big contracts coming off the books soon, and the role guys like George and Buckner make peanuts. Devin Harris and Diop are on short-term deals, but the Mavs wouldn't have to break the bank to keep either. And with the attractiveness of their team and Cuban's willingness to spend money they really don't have to worry about overpaying anyone, they'll be in great shape through the prime years of their big 3.

Rd. 10 is done and you're waiting for MJ Styles to post the next rd. I have a keeper in rd. 11 (Jermaine Dye), and there are two other keepers from the rd, Aaron Harang and Chris Ray. I'm not sure who they belong to though.

The Spurs are 41-18. They've won 8 games in a row. They're #1 in points allowed, #1 in point differential, #3 in opponents FG%, #3 in opponents 3pt%, #3 in FG%, #5 in 3pt%. Their biggest weakness statistically is that they're 'just' a slightly above average rebounding team, mainly due to low offensive rebounding totals. Defensively they're in the top 5. There's hating on a team and there's willfull ignorance. The Spurs are just as much of a threat as the Mavericks and Suns.
  13. It looks like more of a cross between No Escape and The Running Man than Battle Royale, which was basically just a different take on Lord of the Flies. Anyway, variations of this kind of story go back centurys to the Roman Empire and the colliseum, it's not like Battle Royale just came out of the ether

I'd like to see San Antonio v. Phoenix again, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see San Antonio beat either Dallas or Phoenix in the playoffs

It was a debate between Barrett and two other players, both of whom I assume will be gone by my next pick in rd. 12, but I figured it was important to fill the catcher spot with a proven player while I still could. It's going to suck to sit out the next 40 or so picks and see my entire board get drafted. There's one player especially I know I'll kick myself over. I'll be sure to congratulate whoever drafts him.

I'm just waiting for MJ Styles to confirm, then I'll post my pick for this rd. I would have done it last night but I was waiting for the rd. to go up in the other thread.

Actually, so does he. Round 9 order is now up. Actually, no I don't. I picked two players from rd. 10 per the previous owner, that should be my 10th and 11th rders, not my 9th and 10th.

McHale is a bad GM. Between the Joe Smith fiasco, the numerous bad contracts he's handed out (Marko Jaric?) and the generally poor drafting it's amazing that he's kept his job for so long. Some of it you can say he had some bad luck, but then there's stuff like having Chauncey Billups blossom on his team and then let him walk to the Pistons for like 5mil per, just to turn around and give Troy Hudson the same contract. There's no excuse for shit like that. He's had KG for TEN YEARS and only once has he managed to build a contender around him, and that was only for one year.
