Gomes is a solid well rounded player, but he's a tweener and a consistent 18-8+ is a lot to ask from the guy. He has some really good games and other games where he doesn't do much, and he did play a full 4 years at Providence, so he's pretty much a finished product. Perkins is a capable backup center with diamond in the rough potential. Telfair is on the verge of being a bust, doesn't play d, doesn't stick open Js, has questions about his attitude, and he's looked pretty bad for Boston. He just lost his job to a rookie for the second year in a row, and Minnesota already has Randy Foye at the point. These are all throw in type players in a deal for KG. Your proposed trade is great for the Celtics, but rebuilding or not, there is no way Minnesota would trade him without getting Jefferson and/or the lottery pick plus a couple other young guys who you probably don't want to trade, and there's no way that's the best offer Minnesota would get.

He'll be a decent player, but come on, that package for KG is total garbage, and the 08 pick would be pretty worthless since you'd assume that with Oden/Durant, KG, Pierce, Jefferson, Green, West Rondo etc. the Celtics would be a juggernaut. Realistically the Celtics would have to give up Jefferson or Oden/Durant/whoever, plus a couple players from the Green/West/Gomes/Rondo/Telfair group. If you're trading for Kevin F'n Garnett you need to give up a little more than Ryan Gomes and some scrubs.

My problem with Lashley "getting the rub" is that he's not in any position to take advantage of it. He's still really green, bland, can't talk, and he's saddled with being the champion of a joke 'brand'. His huge push hasn't taken, because it's easy to see that he's in over his head. They had a good moderate build going for him on Smackdown, but the ECW thing has totally overexposed him. He'll be completely overshadowed by Austin, Trump and McMahon and go right back to being the champion of the crappy one hour show on the Sci-Fi channel, and in a couple of weeks it will be like he wasn't even in that match. And until he improves some of the weaknesses in his game, gets off ECW, and gets some good character/booking behind him, it doesn't matter how many sideshow angles you involve him in, he's not going to be "the next star" So while I guess he works fine for the purposes of the match in being a warm body with some good spots to fill in the blanks between Trump, McMahon and Austin, people need to stop pretending that it's going to be Lashley's big step to being a draw. As for who would be better suited to take advantage of the spot in the match, and is the right fit for the Trump/Umaga dynamic, the WWE is really short on up and coming faces right now and doesn't really have anyone else for the role. It would have been a perfect way to debut a new wrestler like Daniel Rodimer or Claudio Castagnoli *snicker*, but other than that Lashley does appear to be the best/safest choice.

The only way they'll let it go is if he wins a championship in NY. He doesn't even have to play particularly well (see Peyton Manning in the playoffs aside from the AFC Championship game, he played like shit the first two games and wasn't particularly great in the bowl, but he'll get a lifetime pass from the media from now on). If he moves on to another team the media will keep on riding him until that team wins, with the added talk of how "he just couldn't handle the pressure of NY" if he plays great elsewhere, or "his years in New York permanently damaged his psyche" if he struggles with errors/goes on a cold streak. Personally I find the overanalysis of A-Rod stupid, and I just try to ignore it. The poor guy can't catch a break at this point, and while he's deserving of some criticism from time to time (IE. his fielding last year and awful plate approach in the playoffs), it's just way overboard, and it's a vicious cycle. People are just sadists, they see a weakness in the man and they can't stop attacking it. Even Yankee "fans" are all over his sack. I'm not saying anything that hasn't already been said though. But hey, as long as people stop arguing about Bernie Williams, as if that hasn't been beaten to death already....

There is, but only to a slight degree. Catching the ball with one hand and slapping the backboard with the other, that's just basic coordination, it doesn't take a special talent to be able to use both hands at the same time. Most guys couldn't get that high up with the slap, but again, he's a huge dude with huge wingspan and a huge vert. It just didn't have that something extra in the actual slam to put it over the top from being a neat idea to a great dunk in my eyes. It scored on creativity and the kitsch of slapping a sticker with his mug on the backboard, not on difficulty. If it's just the slap without the sticker nobody is talking about it. I'm not taking anything away from it, it was neat, I just don't see where Howard got jobbed on the score As for Nate and his height, it's a moot point, he isn't 6 inches taller, and that's why his dunks are "all that hard". If Dwight Howard was 6 inches shorter and did his dunk it would have been fucking mind blowing. Of course Nate's dunks would be easier/less impressive if he was taller, but he isn't, and they aren't. That's just the nature of the beast, smaller dudes throwing down will always have an "unfair advantage" in contests. I didn't think the statue of liberty one with Lee was all that great, I thought the judges overrated it, but I wouldn't have scored it any worse than Howard's dunk. Nate's first dunk was fucking sick though, just for where he jumped from, and the extension with where he had to reach back to grab it. Major style points for that one.

Howard's dunk was neat and got a laugh out of me, but what was all that crazy about it? It was cute, but like someone else said he's 6-11 with long-ass arms and mad ups, the fact that the actual dunk was so basic kept it from going over the top. And really, the sticker wasn't that high up. The TNT guys were overselling it as being at the top of the backboard when it was a good few inches short of it. Cool dunk, but nothing to get all indignant or worked up over that he didn't score better. Green and Robinson had the best combined rds 1/2, they deserved to be in the finals. And Green's Dee Brown tribute was sick. The difficulty level of jumping over someone and then blindfolding yourself in mid-air was greater than that of any other dunk attempted. And, he actually covered up through the dunk, Dee Brown peeked

There's no incentive for a team like Charlotte or Orlando to trade for Carter when they can just make a pitch to sign him after the season if/when he opts out of his contract. Maybe Otis Smith thinks Carter would be the key to the Magic contending this year, but I figure he's smarter than that, and with what he'd have to give up (probably Darko/Turkoglu or something comparable).....it doesn't make sense. I'm not really sure what destination makes sense for a Carter trade, so I don't think it will happen. Kidd is a more likely trade scenario as a better overall player and proven winner/facilitator with a couple years left on his contract. I've never bought the Lakers talk since he's not a natural fit for the triangle and Bynum isn't going anywhere, I could maybe see the other LA team taking a run at him though. But ultimately I don't think he will be traded either.

Malik Rose for Nazr Mohammed Pt. II Tyson Chandler is a huge reason for the Hornets being in it. 1st in the league in offensive rebounding and 2nd overall behind KG, 14th in blocks and trending upwards, and he'd be tied with David Lee for the lead in FG% if he had enough attempts. He had a bit of a slow start but has been an absolute beast over the last two months. Bulls fans must love seeing both him and Curry come into their own outside of the Windy City

I chose the 2004 Yankees as a lark to see if they'd outlast the 2004 Sox, but seeing as how near every 2004 playoff team is being named I agree with the too many modern clubs complaint.... How about the slightly less modern 1994 New York Yankees? Or the 1994 Montreal Expos for that matter...

2004 Yankees What?

Yes, Alou and his career 301/368/516 means nothing.... He certainly doesn't hold a candle to Lastings "and soon" Milledge

And one of the things he did on the court was get his ass suspended for 15 games. It doesn't matter if you agree with the suspension or not, he missed 15 games as a result of a totally avoidable action on his part. I'm a huge Carmelo Anthony fan and he was obviously on track to be an all-star, but I wouldn't have put him on my all-star team, leading scorer avg. wise or not. He's pretty far down on my list of 'snubs' behind Deron Williams, Josh Howard, Elton Brand, Zach Randolph, Ray Allen and probably a few more. I've got a bigger problem with Allen Iverson making the team than Melo not making it. He's played, what, 10 games in the West? 35 games total? I wouldn't put him ahead of the guys I mentioned who've actually played in the West all season...

Good relievers help pad your ERA, WHIP and Ks, so they still carry value without holds. That said, I don't care either way on counting holds. The thing with having OBP and hits as categorys and nothing covering doubles/triples/slugging is that there's a whole bunch of players who's value won't be appreciated. Say you've got a guy with an average OBP but he hits 30-40 doubles and 5 triples, with the stats as they are now he wouldn't be worth any more than a guy who hits a ton of singles. That doesn't seem right. I favor adding SLG over adding doubles, but I'd take either over just hits as a stat

What about SLG%?
