Tough loss for the Tigers. What's the matchup tommorow? Verlander and Weaver? Hmmmmm....

TIE GAME!

Oh, well one thing the ratings might effect, it might convince FOX that AMERICA HATES JOE BUCK......but I doubt it.
-
Who cares what the ratings are? Seriously. It has no affect on anything. It's not like they're going to take the Series off the air or banish the teams that don't bring the ~RATINGZ from the playoffs. So far this has been the best series since 03, it's good baseball between a couple of evenly matched, well rounded teams, and it looks like it could go 7. That's all I care about. I also love baseball in cold weather. That's what OCTOBER BASEBALL is all about.

I don't think Sheff's comments will affect his trade value all that much. Any team interested in him already knows he's a headcase who likes to run his mouth. He makes threats like this all the time. And Sheff has too much of an ego to sit out, not when he's closing in on 500 hrs and 2500 hits. He'll get traded to a decent team, maybe Anaheim if they don't get Soriano, maybe Texas, and probably get another year on his contract from them.

A little early for the Sheffield drama to start, he usually waits til at least January
-
Read in the Daily News today that the Yankees are picking up Sheffield's option with the intention of trading him, and apparently the market for him has been pretty strong.

It's been officially called. And the weather is supposed to be bad tommorow night too.

Did I just hear 'Latino Heat' when Pudge came up?!!?!

Well, I don't see how anyone can be surprised that the Cards won this game. The Tigers had like a f'n WEEK off and the Cardinals are riding a huge wave after upsetting the Mets IN New York. One team was rusty, one team was hot. I fully expected STL to take game 1.
-
Why not? Otis Nixon is a spry and youthful 62, I'm sure Terry Pendleton can shed off that extra 150 lbs, and Jeff Blauser..........I can't come up with anything funny to say about Jeff Blauser.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Chalk it up to losing Pedro and El Duque right before the playoffs. Maine and Perez stepped up, but it killed their depth and took away some of their swagger. I feel bad for the diehard Mets fans, so many of them were convinced that this was the year. WFAN is going to be so depressing tonight. The Cardinals pitching, bullpen especially, was impressive. I give them a punchers chance against the Tigers, and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them win or at least take it to 6 or 7 games. One thing working in their favor is the long layoff for Detroit, they have a great opportunity to steal game 1. LaRussa/Leyland is such a great matchup. There's definitely more pressure on STL though. 2nd trip to the series in 3 years, always in the NLCS, some of their key guys are getting up there agewise...

that was fucking awesome

The picture looks kind of fake, but Buckner DID play for the Cubs before he went to Boston. It was probably just his 'lucky' glove.

The thing with Tiki, as some people have pointed out, is that although his career numbers are very good overall, he really didn't put it all together until the last couple years. From 99-04 he averaged 7.5 fumbles a year. He was inconsistent. The talent was obviously there and he put up numbers, but it wasn't until the last couple years that he's put up HOF worthy seasons. If he retires after this year he doesn't get in. Another 2 or 3 years at his current pace and he's good to go.
-
Of course you would. And I'd like to trade Jaret Wright for Ryan Zimmerman. If the Yankees are going to give up Alex F'n Rodriguez they're going to want someone more valuable than John Garland in return. Do I even need to comment on Javier Vasquez?
-
It would open up a spot for Fields who should probably be in the bigs by now and give them a huge upgrade at SS. They need to get Brandon McCarthy into the rotation anyway, sticking him in middle relief is stunting his development, so trading away one of their starters is desirable. They'd still have Garcia, Contreras, Garland and Vazquez. And even though we all know Buehrle is better than he showed this past season, he was basically their worst starter. I highly doubt it will happen, but it's the kind of deal that could benefit both teams.

Does he not realize what team he signed with? Or that the GM who just hired him has now moved onto trying to lock up their current third baseman? Yeah, but you figure that if A-Rod waives his trade clause he expects to go back to shortstop A deal with the Cubs doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, the Yankees would need a pitcher, third baseman and/or A level prospects to justify a deal, and the Cubs don't really have the pieces to make it happen. Of all the ideas bounced around A-Rod to the White Sox for Beuhrle/Crede or Fields seemed like the one that was the best fit for both teams involved. Really, looking around the league, I can't come up with many plausible scenarios for A-Rod to be traded.
