The USA was up 12 and are absolutely collapsing. Greece up 5 now with a minute left in the first half. Same problems for the USA as in other games. Too much 1-1, too many jump shots. And Greece is just picking their D apart with spacing and ball movement.

This Papadopoulos guy is great. Like the Greek Vlade Divac. Why isn't he on the Knicks yet?!!
-
USA is playing Greece on ESPN2 right now. I'm probably the only jerk watching

Jesus, that's like the 3rd or 4th time Nevin has been traded in the past year

Delmon Young is looking good so far. Went 2/3 with a homer in his debut, 2/3 yesterday and 4/5 today.

They need depth on the frontline. In the last couple Olympics foul trouble with the bigs has been a major issue. We've got Brand, Howard, Bosh, Miller (who doesn't even play) and Jamison. Melo and LeBron have also been playing the 4. I would have rather seen Jamison cut before Bosh. I thought Arenas would be cut for the exact same reasons that article gives. I could see him making it over Hinrich or Jamison, but the team has a lot of depth in perimeter scoring, and I think they viewed Arenas as too much of a ball stopper.

Nobody reacted like that. Our 2nd best reliever gave up the lead in the 9th. Rivera had already pitched today. It sucks, we wanted to win this game. Shit happens.

Wang's ERA is 3.66. That's not "almost 4". His WHIP is 1.29. Verlander's ERA is 3.4. His WHIP is 1.27. Both have 16 quality starts The only real difference between the two is strikeouts. Oh, and run support, Verlander's is 4th best in the league. Wang's is 13th. So you can can the "oh but he plays for the Yankees" argument I don't think he deseves to win, but you can't ignore how well he's pitched. Actually, now that I look at the stats more closely, Mussina should be getting some consideration as well. He's got the most quality starts in the AL and less run support than Halladay or Verlander, as well as those OMG STRIKEOUTS that are apparently crucial to award consideration. I guess it doesn't really matter though, because Johan Santana clearly deserves to win. More importantly, SAL FASANO HIT A DOUBLE!!!!!!
-
I think it's time for Wang's name to start coming up in Cy Young discussions. Not that he has any chance compared to Santana/Halladay/Verlander, nor does he deserve to win, but he's having a damn good year and I can see him getting some 2nd/3rd place votes.

Former Cav and Laker, he played for the Bobcats last season. He's an athletic slasher who's a good 3 point shooter and decent rebounder/defender. Perfect fit for the Suns who'll just ask him to run, slash and spot up for 3s. He's kind of like an extremely poor man's Shawn Marion.
-
They ran into a Suns team that had Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Danny Ainge, Tom Chambers, Cedric Ceballos, Richard Dumas (remember him?), Oliver Miller (when he was actually good), and KURT RAMBIS!!!! And it's not like the Warriors could have beat the Sonics, Jazz, Knicks (weep) or Bulls that year anyway.

They'd probably be in first because the rest of the division is playing .500 ball, but so what? Ifs, ands and buts don't factor into MVP voting. Beltran is first in MLB in total win shares, 4th in MLB in defensive win shares. He's also 5th in baseball in runs created. Sure, he's not the only guy on the team having a good year (Reyes and Wright are 9-10 in win shares), but he's still been the biggest part of their success. That's like saying that you could just take Albert Pujols off of the 2004 Cardinals because Rolen and Edmonds were having great years. It doesn't work like that. Howard is tied for 13th in total win shares, and defensively he doesn't even rate. He's tied for 20th in runs created. Beltran is hitting .324 with RISP. Howard is hitting .243. And in a stat I'm not totally sold on, Clutch rating (Hits with RISP minus overall BA times at bats with RISP, plus HR with runners on minus (all HR/AB) times at bats with runners on)....Beltran gets a 7.7....Howard gets NEGATIVE 5.3, one of the worst in the league. And as naiwf said, he outclasses Howard in OBP, Slugging, doubles, strikes out less, and makes a difference on the bases.

The Panthers aren't a bad pick at all, but THE DOLPHINS?!?! Granted they have Culpepper, Chambers, Ronnie Brown, McMichael and a pretty solid D, I don't think the playoffs are out of the question depending on how Culpepper plays, and they're projected to have the 12th easiest schedule, but to pick them to make the Super Bowl is pretty funny.

That logic is fine, except when did Paul Heyman v. Sabu become an enticing match?! -
Panthers over THE DOLPHINS?!?!! Fuck that. And didn't they pick the Panthers last year or the year before?

Irregular heartbeats are bullshit. Hell, I had an irregular heartbeat this morning! I'm here, I'm posting... Seriously though, when someone Ortiz's age comes up with an irregular heartbeat, nine times out of ten they did it to themselves. Or the Yankees did it to them. Just sayin
-
DON NELSON?!!???
-
He has an irregular heartbeat because the Yankees put it on him. Just like Manny's phantom knee injury Bunch of pussies
-
Why would you even consider giving Ortiz a day off right now? Especially with Manny out, and it's not like DHing is that taxing on a player. They're putting up a heart of the order of Loretta-Youklis-Hinske. Oh, and they're starting some guy I've never heard of before. I think the Sox are throwing in the towel already. We all know Manny has quit on his team, and Francona's comments in the media haven't exactly been inspirational.

Somebody buy this man a drink! DX v. the McMahons and Big Show? That's pretty retarded.

Man, the SD guys got ZERO pop. I guess it's true, nobody actually watches SD....
