HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! BEST. COP. EVER! That's almost as cool as Larry Sweeney as Nick Hogan!!!

How about AJ Hawk?

No way would Robert Ferguson and a pick swap be enough. We're asking for at least a solo #1, probably another player or pick as well.

Forget belts and trophys and birthday cakes, I think they should have a world championship monster truck!

They've already got a good cop/bad cop game going between Parcells and Jones, Cowboys' fans just better hope they're on the same page, because I could really see Parcells saying "I'm too old for this shit!" and either banishing TO from the team or just walking himself

I hope Girardi gets fired so he can come back to the Yankees and be Torre's successor like he should have been all along. Either that or Bernie becomes player/coach and insists on putting himself in center field once a week.

I remember hearing speculation that if Vegas got an NBA team they would have to take NBA games off the books. I don't know how much truth there is to that (I do know that they're taking the 07 All-Star game off the books as a condition of having the game played there), but the gambling issue seems to be one of the biggest roadblocks. And for Alabama, Oklahoma and Nebraska it's definitely the competition from college. I think Oklahoma City or Omaha could support teams though. Football is so huge in this country, if you build it they will come...

Yeah, and he made it sound like we'd be doing them a favor. This is the Marlins, who's entire team makes less money than A-Rod. That has firesales every five years. The guy was like convinced that it was a "great deal for the Yankees"...well no shit! I would do the trade in a second, obviously. I heard a Jerome the other day and I was so disapointed that it wasn't the Jerome Anyone know that old woman who was always like coughing and choking during her calls? Miriam from Forrest Hills I think? Always called Steve Somers. I heard she passed away recently

Joe Torre has been getting beaten up on WFAN all weekend for his management of the bullpen. Now granted he's been overworking Villone, and granted he maybe should have used Rivera in a tie/close situation rather than letting him sit for 4 days...but the complete outrage that some of these callers have is uncalled for. I thought we could all relax for a bit after the Boston massacre. Oh, and my favorite call of the weekend, the guy who thinks we should trade A-Rod and Wang to the Marlins for Cabrera and Willis

I guess. I heard something about having to hear it from three sources at least before he put it up. On another note: Maybe, Im being too negative here but perhaps WWE want to get rid of Kurt before tragedy strikes and blood is on there hands. Let's face it: a highly respected, former Olympic gold medallist joining pro wrestling and then dying some drug related death makes them look really bad and the press would have a field day with it. Not that I'm saying it's the only reason, but it must be a factor. Maybe, but if god forbid something tragic happens to Angle the figurative blood is still going to be on the WWE's hands. The WWE will say, "hey, we saw that he had a problem, and we tried to help the guy..." but anyone who can put 2 and 2 together will see that their actions were too little too late. The WWE can't distance itself from his fate at this point. They might be able to soften the bad PR blow with their current actions, but an Olympic gold medalist become a tragedy as a direct result of working for Vince McMahon will bring a maelstrom of bad press. ESPN would cover it. Sports Illustrated would cover. Major newspapers would write about it. Amazingly the mainstream media barely touched the negative aspects of the Guerrero story. I don't think they'd let Angle's story pass. But hopefully it never comes to that.

My assumption (and that's all it is) is that all Angle's month off (reportedly for a Wellness violation) did was add more fuel to the fire. He came back, was still taking pills, still working through multiple injurys, nothing had changed, and the WWE finally had to give him an ultimatum: let us help you, we send you to rehab until you clean yourself up or we agree to part ways until you can come back to us in reasonable shape. Angle, dependant on painkillers for years and too damn proud/stubborn to go to rehab, chose the latter option. I think Vince has probably known in the back of his mind it would come to this for some time, and I think the month off was more of a "throw something at the wall" action. I think everyone involved knew it would take more than a month long break for Angle to get himself straightened out. I'm sure it's a lot more complicated than that, but if I had to guess on a basic chain of events that would be it. Hopefully Angle really does take this as a wakeup call and realizes that something has to change. The sad thing is, I don't really see any way Angle can come back. Without painkillers the man will be in agony, wrestling or not. Any doctor in the world would take one look at his laundry list of injuries and have no reservations prescribing him something. And if he can't live a normal life, much less wrestle, without drugs, then the chances of him coming back clean are nil.

The Patriots last offer to Branch was a 5 year deal that could be worth up to 8 mil a season with performance incentives, with over 6 mil per guaranteed. He and his agent are just being ridiculous now. I don't blame him for trying to get his, with the way the NFL salarys are set up you have to look out for yourself, but come on, that's a fair F'n offer. And I like Branch a lot, but honestly, he's not a prototype #1, and I don't think he can do what he's done without Brady or another upper echelon QB. And the deal with the trade is that even if Branch finds a team willing to pay him what he wants the Patriots aren't obligated to trade him. They're going to ask for a ton in return, basically if another team wants Branch the Pats will take them to the woodshed. And the real rub is unless Branch plays a certain # of games this season he can't become an unrestricted FA. So the Pats really hold all the cards at this point.

There actually isn't that much difference between the two offenses. The Yankees get on base at a higher clip, Cleveland slugs more, but across the board the #'s are almost identical.
-
And if Jackson and Tinsley catch wind of the fact that they're being actively shopped they become even bigger problems, and their value around the league gets even lower. Can't have it both ways.

But didn't the storyline prove that she is in fact a ruthless bitch? As far as why Foley would see a good side in her that really didn't exist....he's a sap. He's a sucker. It wouldn't be the first time he was manipulated. I saw the whole thing as a way to write him out of the show while giving him a reason to come back as a face, as well as a way to blow off the deal with Flair without either guy losing definitively. Because lets be real, Foley has creative control, Flair has enough pull to not work with Foley if he doesn't like the way it's laid out, this feud wasn't going to happen if it meant one of them had to put the other over strong, nor did it really need that kind of ending. Both guys got their promo time, did some damage to the other, and feel like they proved their point. It accomplished what it was supposed to for both guys, while not making one out to be better than the other. The heel turn was only done to setup a big match for ONS, after that Foley was subtly planting the seeds for the fans to start cheering for him again. Even his heel turn wasn't dastardly per se, it was clearly booked to have an easy out, well reasoned and articulated by Foley throughout. I saw him as more of a tweener, especially once he started working with Flair, where the whole vibe was of "each of us is good and bad in our own ways." I mean, if you go by the real-life basis of the feud Foley should have been the face, so this was obviously a compromise with Flair to make the program happen. As for why Melina would even bother with Foley....it goes back to her being a ruthless bitch. Maybe she found him ammusing at first but got tired of him. Maybe she didn't like the way he started pimping their relationship publically. Maybe she just saw an opportunity to get herself over at the expense of a legend, humoured him, then humiliated him. Makes perfect sense for her character, to get off on something like that. At least give it another week to be better explained before shitting on it.

I don't care for Johnny Fairplay, but that's one of the dumbest things I've ever read

That was the most satisfying regular season series I can remember in some time. Not quite as dramatic as the series at the end of last season to capture the division, but this was just an epic beatdown the likes of which I've never seen. I see the Yankees riding the momentum of this to a great September. The Sox I can see going either way, they could rally, they could collapse, but I think they're going to have to settle for the wild card race now (which I don't think they can win). The Yankees will be tested in the next couple of weeks by the Angels, Tigers and Twins. But after that they've got 7 against TB, 7 against Baltimore, 6 against Toronto and 3 against KC. The Red Sox have 3 game sets with the Angels, A's, Twins and White Sox on the schedule. 7 against Toronto, 6 against Baltimore, 3 against KC and 2 against Tampa.

Yeah, but you can't take Ortiz out of the game
