    Ask Al: Part Two!

On Sheff, he came out and said he was psyched about the deal because it gave them a better shot at winning rings. He also said he just wants to come back healthy, and will do anything Torre asks him to do, including playing first or third. Typical Sheff, everyone expects him to do one thing so he does the opposite I'm not sure what to expect next year. I doubt the Yankees will pick up his $13 mil option, but I'm sure they'd take him back at roughly half of that. Would Sheff accept that? Probably depends on what other teams are offering. I'm not so sure he could command much better than that on the open market. He's 38, diminished in the field, bad reputation and whispers of steroid use, plus he's coming off a lingering injury.

    2006-2007 NBA Schedule releases

The Knicks will be competitive this year, mark my words I don't understand leaving Atlanta and Toronto off TV. Chris Bosh is supposed to be one of the bright young stars in the league, they have the #1 pick, and golden boy Colangelo putting together an international style team. I thought Stern would be all over that shit. And Atlanta is stacked with exciting young players, WTF!?

    2006-2007 NBA Schedule releases

Yeah, Stern will be kicking himself when we're in first place in the Atlantic! And add me to the people who don't care to see Shaq v. Kobe on Christmas again. They really should be showcasing LeBron and Wade, but there's like a dozen matchups that would be more interesting to me. How about Detroit v. Chicago?

Crawford has easily got the most trade value of those 4, but he's also the one I'd be least interested in moving. He's a good off-ball defender, good ball handler, and when he gets hot he can match shots with anyone in the league. Francis would be the next easiest to move, but I hate the idea of not giving him and Marbury a proper chance to play together. I thought at the time of the trade (and still do) that in the right environment they could be effective together. Whether or not this is the right environment remains to be seen, but we need to give them a shot. Q-Rich's back is a constant issue, and combined with his contract nobody will take that risk. We're stuck with him. He's almost exactly like Larry Johnson, except he doesn't have a magical gold tooth. And Marbury will never be traded. Which is fine by me, because as frustrating as he can be I can't help but like the guy. Kind of like Malcolm X.

    WWECW Report Fitchburg, MA

^^^ what is Angle drinking there? I live within 2 hours of Fitchburg and I know some people who live near there, so when this show got announced I briefly contemplated going. But after watching 'ECW Unleashed' for a few weeks I pretty much kicked myself in the ass for even thinking about it. And after RVD and Angle got suspended.....you couldn't have even paid me to go to it. I take pity on any of you who were there. And I've actually seen a couple concerts at that arena....Nirvana/The Breeders in 93 and Rage Against the Machine about 10 years ago...it's not THAT bad, actually it's probably a lot nicer than many of the venues ECW ran back in the day

Why do we have to get rid of at least two of those guys? You mean other than Rose/Taylor? I'd think the odds of moving any one of Crawford, Q-Rich, Francis or Marbury are close to nil. I'm hoping Isiah Thomas' gameplan is RUN RUN RUN, that's our best chance of winning, and it's something that Larry Brown refused to do. If we play that style we can get away with playing Jeffries or Lee at the 4, and maybe Mardy Collins at the 3 from time to time. Hell, maybe Balkman can play a little 4. There's Malik Rose at the 4 too. That style could make up for the lack of height after Curry/Frye. I'm not even going to bother with Oliver Miller Jerome James. It should be easy enough to move Jalen Rose and Maurice Taylor as long as we don't expect much in return. Some picks and a scrub or two would be fine.

Izturis is a wizard at short, right? With the quality of Chicago's pitching it makes sense to add a guy like that. He uhhhh...doesn't really do anything else. I wonder what Steve Bartman thinks of the trade...?

Ok, so it looks like Linebrink for Perez was false, El Presidente himself denied it. So that raises the question, how does Oliver Perez help this team win a world series? He's been awful for the last two years after that breakout year in 04, and all indications are that that was a flukey career year. He does have a great fastball though. So do they think Peterson can revive his career, or do they want to put him in the pen? I'd rather have Linebrink. I'm surprised to see Guzman traded by LA, but their organization has a ton of depth in infield prospects. Of course now he'll be blocked by BJ Upton in Tampa, but LA had been talking about converting him to the OF anyway. I like what LA has done in adding Betemit, Lugo and Maddux. If Nomar and Kent can get healthy they have a very good shot at taking the West. Of course, then they'll have a bit of a position jam. I wonder if Kent would move to 3rd to make room for Lugo... Does anyone think Soriano will resign with Washington? Doesn't look like the Seattle rumour has any merit.

Wow. I like Chacon but he's kind of sucked this year, that's another damn good deal for the Bombers. Wilson can play first base, so it probably spells the end of Phillips and/or Guile. It's also an indication that they don't expect much from Sheff and/or Matsui.

I think it's the white bread thing. Bobby Cox doesn't care about black people. They need more black guys with cornrows and names like Lastings Milledge. Apparently the Cubs are close to trading Todd Walker to San Diego

Duaner Sanchez is out for the year with a seperated shoulder. How did he get hurt? You guessed it: Cab accident (no, I'm not joking). Bad break for the Mets.

Braves PR? LOL. Get back to me when the city actually cares about the team. They don't even sell out playoff games! I think getting swept by the Mets in front of the biggest houses of the season was about as bad as PR gets. Lester is pitching for Boston already, he's 5-1 with a 3.49 era. He's a lefty. And he's 22 years old. He's widely considered one of the top pitching prospects in the game. It's not really a question of if he pans out, it's a question of how good can he be. Like I said, I'm not surprised that Boston turned it down, they're not trading Lester.
