So, the Sox have given up Hanley Ramirez, Andy Marte and Anibal Sanchez....to get Josh Beckett, Coco Crisp and Mike Lowell? They ARE the Yankees!!! If I can be serious for a moment, Crisp is a good player. Good glove, some speed, some pop, gets on base at a decent clip. Jack of all trades type guy, 26 years old, probably due for some modest improvement over the next couple years. I don't know if he's their answer at leadoff, but he fills the void in CF. But damn, the young and rich get younger and richer! Of all the teams to trade Marte to it had to be Cleveland!?! 3B was one of the few holes in their lineup...

Really, Kobe and LeBron alone should be enough to ensure victory if they get the right team around them. I'm thinking, if we go into it today: Elton Brand Ben Wallace Rasheed Wallace Brad Miller Lamar Odom Kyle Korver Ray Allen Richard Hamilton Andre Miller Jason Kidd Or something like that. Obviously a lot can change in two years though.

What pisses me off is that Kobe is only playing because he wants the glory of avenging our disgraceful loss in Athens. He's "juiced" now, why wasn't he all about it last time? Ditto for Shaq, who now "expresses interest" but wanted nothing to do with it last time.

The Knicks, realistically, will never be under the cap, so talking about Isiah's financial "mistakes" is irrelevant. Given the mess he inherited from Layden he's done an admirable job. Jerome James is the biggest mistake he's made. Before that it was Tim Thomas, which he flipped into Curry. Overall, the talent and future outlook has improved. I'm not an Isiah guy by any stretch, I've never really liked the guy, but I'm more or less happy with what he's done. The roster as is might be a legit contender if Curry can reach his full potential. I don't think he'll ever be that good, but we're still only a player away. Get a legit dynamic small forward (Artest?) in there and we're golden.

But he was only "the man" for one year, and not even really, because he wasn't autonomous in the decision making, it was more like a dry run season to groom him as the future d-coordinator. Belichick loves the guy, by all accounts he's got brains, but I think it's a real reach of a hire for the NYJ. Basically it looks like they just want to get back to the Parcells/Belichick tradition and this was the best they could do. The team is about to hit major rebuilding though, this hire is the equivalent of throwing the towel in the wash, and the defensive studs like Vilma and Ellis are their biggest strength right now, so from that angle it makes sense...a young defensive wiz who can grow with the team. I wonder if he'll keep Heimerdinger? He'll definitely need an experienced play caller at his side, someone he can crib off of, and should probably just hand the offense over to someone else for the first year.
