    This week in the NBA

Actually, from what I saw in the abomination of a game against the Sonics, the problem with the Bulls is that they can't score. They have almost no offensive threats. Basically, it's just Ben Gordon hustling his ass off and Kirk Hinrich dropping in a bucket or two here and there. It's horrible (not that the Sonics are much better.) As for the Sonics, they have a great front court this year. They're actually outrebounding teams, which I have never, in my life, seen them do. The problem is they only have a couple of guards on the team. Ray Allen's a shooting guard, Ronald "Flip" Murray is a shooting guard who acts like a point guard (he's such a ball hog, I wish they'd get rid of him now!), Luke Ridnour's been great at point but he can't play the whole game and has been injury-plagued, and I don't know where the hell Rick Brunson is. Damien Wilkins had to step in a couple of games at point guard and he's really a small forward. He's 6'6", but he's no Magic Johnson. So, in closing, Seattle needs to trade for some guards and soon! I suggest Ron Murray and Vitaly Potapenko for two point guards from somewhere. Actually, I just want to get rid of those guys, but it'd be nice to get something in return.

    2005-06 MLB Offseason Thread

Reviewing the post thus far, this post makes me laugh. Not only did the Marlins pick up two men that are never wanted back in Mariners territory (ever again), but they're actually being praised for doing so. Al, who is usually dead-on with what he says, talks about Olivo being taken for his defense. Olivo has trouble catching the ball behind the plate and Pokey Reese was out all of last year (getting paid a huge salary to do so.) He's supposed to be pretty good on defense, but will hardly bring anything to the plate. Anyway, the Mariners aren't doing anything (yet again), so I foresee another cellar finish, possibly losing 100 games. Their pitching prospects (aside from Felix Hernandez) that were brought up last year were Jeff Harris and Jorge Campano, who are both 30 years old+. The M's need to get their act together because it's looking like the late 80's/early 90's again.

    Miami Vice The Movie

The trailer looked horrible. Also, I kept wanting to see Don Johnson. Nobody should have to suffer like that. He sucked as a singer, he sucked as Crockett, he's easily my least favorite G.I. Joe. Why, God, why?!!!!

    Starrcade

First of all, promoted to whom? Second of all, if it's a headlining match, why is it the curtain-jerker? Third of all, what kind of booking genius makes the "World Title" match the first match of the card? I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to give this one the Homer Simpson special: "It receives my worst grade yet: seven thumbs up."

Most forgettable stint in a promotion

Watching the 1994 Royal Rumble again tonight I could say one of many entrants into that match. (My second favorite rumble match, only upstaged by the 1995 one, in my opinion.) Lots of people remember Genichiro Tenryu's long-lasting performance in that Rumble, but they all seem to forget The Great Kabuki's abortion of an appearance in the Rumble. WTF was that all about?

    Survivor Series 88 Question

Wait, I'm confused. Was it Sean Casey or Scott Casey? 'Cause they're two very different wrestlers. If I recall correctly, wasn't Sean Casey in Playgirl and isn't Scott Casey the epitomy of who shouldn't be in Playgirl?

    J. Biggs. That was, I believe, the last time I ever watched WCW before it died. I mean, reusing old WWF managers that had no business being managers at all, come on! At least TRY to do something yourself!

I seem to remember Hakushi also coming out with a female consort at one time or another. (Possibly after Shinja was dropped.) Am I right? Also, I've never seen a picture of Shinja, anyone got one?

Some people have been complaining about the loading times at Rapidshare, I suggest that you all get a Rapidshare account. It's well worth it.

    What Title Reigns Are Better?

I'd have to lean towards longer title reigns, simply because Booker T can call himself a five-time WCW Champion (of course, who can't?), but, in the end, I think it really depends on how the title was treated during the reign of the champion. The first title I can really remember as important is the Intercontinental title. Now whether this is because I am a huge Razor Ramon mark or because I first started watching when the Heavyweight scene was Diesel vs. his opponent is unimportant because I remember that the Intercontinental title used to mean something. Razor Ramon felt like a champion and when guys like Jeff Jarrett stole the title, you knew Razor would come back to get his belt, not lose once more then be elevated to the main event or jobbed into obscurity. Guys like Shawn Michaels carried the belt around with pride. Now it's more-or-less a paperweight. It's stuck on the flavor of the week in hopes of preparing him to take control of the main event one day. Remember when titles used to mean something? It's embarassing that the WWF is basically an inverted pyramid now, with so many guys filling out the top-rung, but everyone on the bottom being deemed replaceable. The fact that there are so many guys on the top leads to shorter title reigns and quicker title changes (note: the fast pace of the world and the sheer amount of television time may attribute to this), but their reigns are essentially meaningless. A champion has to own his title and feel like he deserves it. Longer reigns can help that, but it only works if you have the right guy, too.

I think what you're looking for is Image consultant. (As Amy Weber was for JBL.) For your friend, preferably no tiara.

    Bad Director's Cuts

Maybe because the last jump he makes has a purpose to it now. I personally thought the ultimate conclusion of the director's cut was a bit sad and more than a little implausible. The addition of some of the scenes in the DC with a happier, but not too sappy version of the studio cut would have been ideal.
