I considered Get Happy!! , but it ultimately didn't make my cut. The Smiths, really? I would easily consider that to be the weakest of their six albums.

Congratulations and good luck with teaching it how to spell!

The Things That Anger You Thread.

Yes, but there are two sides to the coin, and being looked down upon by old people simply because you're in possession of alcohol is infinitely worse. Old people in general are just rather cuntish, I do believe. -

yet ironically in American high school they tend to teach more about English history than any other foreign country Interesting. America, Germany and Russia are the foreign countries that we get taught the most about. -

There's certainly nothing like this in Britain, thank God. -
I object to Pbone's last post. An ellipsis is only comprised of three full stops.

Yes, because that's such an achievement to be envious of. You would really want the Pac Man high score to go to a genuinely nice person. -
Liars were supposed to open for Radiohead when I saw them last month and, - judging by various songs of theirs I have heard - I would have been looking forward to that. Unfortunately they were replaced by some lame chick singer who sets abysmal, melodramatic poetry to mindlessly stupid, inept electronic music and goes by the pseudonym of "Bats for Lashes".

I dunno, you could either take it as a work of fact or fiction, and a lot of people do list factual books as their favourites. If somebody deems The Bible to be a work of fiction then yes, it is a pretty terrible choice for a favourite book. Completely monotomous chapters that just repeat the same sentence over and over again with different names attached do not make for good reading.

I feel like ranking the songs on various albums at the moment for some reason. In Rainbows: 10. "Bodysnatchers" 09. "All I Need" 08. "House of Cards" 07. "Faust Arp" 06. "Jigsaw Falling into Place" 05. "15 Step" 04. "Apreggi/Wierd Fishes" 03. "Nude" 02. "Videotape" 01. "Reckoner"

Oh, so being bereft of apostrophes is a common feature of all of McCarthy's writing?

I don't know whether news of this ever travelled to TSM or not, but Jay-Z's rendition of "Wonderwall" came about in response to Noel Gallagher complaning about him headlining Glastonbury. Seeing Radiohead in person three days ago pretty much cemented "Idioteque" as being my favourite song of theirs. It raised my estimation of "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" and "There There" as well.

I have recently read A Passage to India, which is a wonderful novel, especially during the moments wherein Forster delves into his character's inner thoughts. It's rather dialogue heavy, which I suppose was to be expected. I also dusted off The Communist Manifesto for the second time. It wasn't particularly enjoyable, but I do think that I have improved my understanding of the work, so that's a positive. I purchased No Country for Old Men yesterday, and have read about half of the book so far. If this really is one of his weaker novels as I have heard elsewhere, then I desperately need to sample more of Cormac McCarthy's fiction. The sole complaint that I would raise concerns the lack of apostrophes that're utilised throughout. I realise that the characters themselves are not supposed to have a particularly good grasp of grammar, but did this really have to be extended to the narrative voice?

So, according to my grandmother's copy of The Mail on Sunday - I myself read The Independent I promise - the following is a list of the 12 songs that David Bowie considers to be the "greatest tracks" of his own career: "Life on Mars" "Loving the Alien" "The Bewlay Brothers" "Win" "Hang On To Yourself" "Fantastic Voyage" "Lady Grinning Soul" "Teenage Wildlife" "Some Are" "Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing" "Repetition" "Time Will Crawl" There are some good choices on there, but I didn't imagine that out of the three Berlin albums Lodger would be the only one that he would actually select anything from.

Use this URL: http://www.surnamedb.com/surname.aspx?name= followed by your surname to find out. Surname: Gilbert Recorded as Gilbert and the patronymic Gilbertson, this is an English surname, but one recorded throughout the British Isles. It is of Norman-French and even earlier pre 7th century Germanic origins. It derives from the personal name variously spelt as Gislebert, Guilbert or Gilebert. However spelt it is a compound with the elements "gisil", meaning a noble youth, and "berht", bright or famous. It is first recorded in England in the famous Domesday Book of 1086 and in the Latinized form of Gislebertus, and appears as a surname in the early 13th century (see below). The given name as Gilbert was very popular in medieval England, partly owing to the fame of St. Gilbert of Sempringham, (1086 - 1189), and the founder of the only native English monastic order. Early examples of the surname recording taken from surviving church registers of the diocese of Greater London include Anna Gylberte, who was christened on June 20th 1548, at St. Michael's Cornhill, and Anne, the daughter of Harry Gilbert, who was christened on December 21st 1558, at St. Matthew's, Friday Street, also in the city of London. Henry Gilbert, aged 38, was a "famine" emigrant who sailed from London aboard the ship "Northumberland", bound for New York on April 9th 1846. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Willelmus Gilberti. This was dated 1202, in the Curia Regis rolls of the county of Wiltshire, during the reign of King John of England, 1199 - 1216. Throughout the centuries, surnames in every country have continued to "develop" often leading to astonishing variants of the original spelling.

I have to get on a fairly early train tomorrow and so shall not be able to type this up until the 30th or so. However, here are my final three selections: Big Black - Songs About Fucking (1987) The Smiths - Meat is Murder (1985) Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti (1975)

Tuna sandwhiches, some wierd pasta mixture with cheese and salmon and raspberry pie. I seem to be constantly binge-eating recently. Probably out of sheer boredom.
