    Arrested Development

No, that would be Seinfeld. Nothing can be more overrated than that. Nothing. Ok, the two most overrated of all time. I found Seinfeld mildly amusing actually, better than AD anyway.

    SeaQuest on DVD

Reminds me of a letter in SFX magazine a few months back.... Q: Are there any plans to release Seaquest DSV on DVD? A: God, let's hope not. Never saw the show myself but that reply still made me laugh. Obviously more fondly remembered by some people than others.

    Worst Song of 2005

White Stripes released my 'favourite single by a band I don't like' this year with that neat Doorbell song.

    English Football

I might be going to the infamous Withdean Stadium in Feb to see us play Brighton. It'd be lovely if it wasn't odds-on to be a grim relegation six-pointer.

    Emo/Punk/Pop Rock stuff...

They only released acouple of albums but which of these labels we're throwing around would Quicksand have fitted best?

    Guiltiest Pleasure of 2005

I'm sure there's a different or more original choice i've forgotten....but until i remember just chalk up another vote for Miss Clarkson.

    sgt peppers

I always enjoyed Sgt.Peppers a lot despite it's flaws. It's not a truly classic record as a whole or the band at their peak but a lot of people go way overboard on slating it.

    The United States Military

Good job they do most of their fighting on Nintendo's.

    Everybody's allowed a guilty pleasure.

    The United States Military

Ratio's? Who mentioned that word? Not me. Did I state that idiocy is any more inherent among American's than people of any other nationality? Nope. Surely only a slack-jawed idiot or an overly sensitive jackass could take offence?

I didn't buy a season ticket this year. I don't regret that decision.

    Top 10 Shows of '05

South San Gabriel - Leicester Charlotte Couldn't have been more than 30 people there but it didn't matter. I went to see my mate's band a few times but I've forgot their name. I'll tell you about it when they get famous.

    The United States Military

America has the biggest and most powerful military in the world.....but not the best or brightest soldier for soldier. That's not a knock on America, it's obviously going to have more bad eggs than other nations because of sheer numbers and recruiting methods. Let's face it, for every group of brave and skilled soldiers there's some slack-jawed idiots who think they're in a cowboy movie. It's sad but true that this second group would most likely be the ones who believed themselves superior to civilians, even if their tasks and responsiblities are a world away from what truly 'elite' troops are doing.

    English Football

1-1. I'm still optimistic we won't get relegated but that mood could change. Reading away next. I'll take another point.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

That song is fucking awful. And an excellent Christmas comp should certainly have "Fairytale of New York" by The Pouges and Kirsty MacColl on it. 1. I disagree. 2. Well, duh!

    Worst Song of 2005

I thought 'What You Waiting For' was quite catchy but i agree the other singles were irritating.

Every good Xmas comp should have Jona Luie's Stop The Cavalry and St Etienne's I Was Born On Christmas Day. An excellent one would have Merry Xmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight) by The Ramones and I Want An Alien For Christmas & Man In The Santa Suit by Fountains Of Wayne.

Brendan Benson - The Alternative To Love Not much cop actually. Big dip from his previous album.

    Your favorite song of 2005

Not really my favourite track overall but I doubt there's a more perfect closing track to any 2005 album than Things The Grandchildren Should Know by Eels. Fave live track: I Feel Too Young To Die - South San Gabriel

    The Best Album of 2005.

I'm reluctant to bother with this after their last album eventually ended up gathering dust in my room but i'll probably give a try. At Dawn will always sound lovely though.

    Wrong....and wrong.

    The Best Album of 2005.

This is a common misconception. The primary writing force behind the Silver Jews is David Berman, and Malkmus hasn't even played on all of the Silver Jews records. While many people get into the Silver Jews because of the Pavement connection, by no means is Silver Jews "Pavement 2" or anything, and often the two sound nothing alike. EDIT: However, the band is really, really good. but often the two do sound alike. A couple of Silver Jews albums pre-Tanglewood lean a lot more towards country arrangements than Pavement ever did. There are similarities in terms of vocal delivery and moments of quirkiness but Berman is most definately his own man as a songwriter and i'd agree that most of the time they don't sound overly alike.

We've got Millwall a t home on Boxing day. Can't help but think of losing 1-0 to Rotherham the same day a year ago in a truly dreadful game. Hope lightning doesn't strike twice and we're desperate for a win.

    English Football

Oh look, it's another pessimistic bugger from Leicester. Welcome! I don't think we'll win it either but it won't stop me dreaming about it just like anybody else.
