Well, I3k, that begs the point. To what measure is the US responsible for assisting the survivors of Katrina? Is it none? Little? More or less than 9/11? Because this was a much much MUCH worse cataclysm locally than 9/11 was. It's like Kotz said, there are no jobs there anymore, because there is still very little "there" there. Some parts were cleaned up for Fat Tuesday, but make no mistake, New Orleans won't be rebuilt for years.

For God's sake, this is really ridiculous. Noone is complaining that Africa had contact with Europe, we blame Europe for colonizing the entire fucking continent, splitting it into arbitrary pieces, and then abandoning it. Why so bitter to people you meet on the street? Maybe they don't have bullshit, maybe they're just trying to say hi. Maybe they were great enough in highschool... But I never talk to ANYONE at work, especially if they're behind a counter. Luckily as I advance in life, more of my friends work behind desks, and THEY always have plenty of time to chat.

Oh come on, whats wrong with saying, "Hey, how are you. You look good. Maybe I'll run into you again sometime, have a nice day." I guess it depends on where you meet them. If it's at a bar, I'll sit down and shoot the shit, depending on whether or not I liked them. If they're behind me in line at some supermarket, I may not want to talk as much.
