  1. I think it's telling that wrestlers aren't using the gimmicks OR movesets from OVW to WWE. Why force someone to change drastically when you're hoping for them to make a big impact? Or at least change them a season BEFORE they get called up so that they get used to their mannerisms. Quickly changed wrestlers are always (or almost always) weak in their new roles. See: Maven w/ his heelish dismissal of the fans when he poses. It's not natural, he's not used to it, even now.
  2. I think they're only looking for one thing tho: big tall wrestlers, over like 275 lbs, ripped. There just *aren't* that many people that look like that. Not enough to build twelve feds.
  3. Fave SJ moments? I have a few: One from Samurai vs. Samurai, season four. Three bounty hunters walk up behind Jack as "Da Samurai" watches him. "Da Samurai" takes a drink of something, and the bountry hunters attack Jack, who is just as quickly in the air, sword already drawn, at which point the scene slows down into super slow motion with really cool music, and "Da Samurai" does a spit take, and by the time he's done wiping his mouth the hunters are down. 2nd is Jack vs. Zombies. Even as Jack nearly escapes the graveyark, Aku appears and steals Jack's sword. What ensues is one of the best chase/fight scenes ever, as Jack really can't HURT Aku, but would just love to get away. He manages to escape, for a while, until Aku basically explodes into a wave of darkness. Quite a fight ensues as jack fights off this amorphous THING, until finally Aku burrows underground and just erupts from underneath Jack. Episode #32, dunno the name. After Jack beats the wind demons, he asks his previous escort if he has passed the test. The insect just murmurs "yes" and nods behind jack, and Jack turns around. There's the gigantic Bird/Pteronodon thing with it's wings stretched out, just an amazing visual. These are almost all solitary images I can describe as my favorite. There are other entire SEGMENTS that were my favorite, but I can't describe in any detail. The Rave scene from the rave episode. The light and dark scene from Jack vs. the Ninja, the entire Maurader fight. Stuff I had never seen before, not from America OR Japan.

So the latest version of Invasion Power Board

Well I'm sure if every member donated a dollar and was willing to wait like a half day to upgrade, it might be worth it... As long as it was predestined to go down and not just a suprise...
  5. Seriously when I mention that one ep isnt' that good, it's cuz it's not as good as the best. Every single Jack episode is going to have at least one thing that is just amazing. I don't know about the three robots, but I know the creature itself is modeled after My Neighbor Totoro or whatever the name is, the Anime creature

At least Bush loves the enviornment....

And not posting in this thread anymore. hmmm... One thing is, if global warming would lead to higher sea levels, with an exanded ocean and higher rainfalls in some areas, possibly even polar melting, some flood plains areas around the world would just be flooded. And a lot of shorefront property as well. But it's not like it would be immediate. People would see it coming and have chances to move. But it wouldn't be a GOOD thing for people who don't WANT to move.

    What Squaresoft should do.

Did you play dark cloud 2? I enjoyed the world building experiance of that, even tho it wasn't nearly on the same scale.

Someone's sarcasm detector is broken. Anyways, that book Mike (NoCal) referenced raises a valid point that Mike (theSC) hasn't addressed. Other cultures in history have ruined their environments to the point where they effectively destroyed themselves. Where do you get off saying we're better than that? You KNOW we have a greater capacity to influence our environment than ever before. And while some of our leaders advocate restraint in this regard, to go back to our original topic of this thread, others feel restraint would be too "costly."

I dunno smitty that seems a little farfetched to me. AFAIK, global warming will just move weather patterns somewhat, create more precipitation in some areas and less in others, with all that that entails for farmers around the world. Yes, Volcanos release an ungodly amount of CO2, sulpher (I think) and other pollutants into the atmosphere. But they aren't as common as everyday. And they're not good things. Why should we create a million little volcanoes everyday? Mike we really can't argue this any further. If you won't see that Bush is in favor of lowering environmental restrictions on things like poisons, dumping, deforestation, and other things negative to environments, then you won't. But it would probably be your dumbest hour.

What, Rant, you think people would do better with your upbringing?

And I'm in total agreement with you. Some of the most ignorant people i know are from C-counties in Maryland (Calvert, Cecil, Carrol) or from various all-white sections of Jersey (If you go to UMCP you know that we're mostly MD, NY, NJ) But they have far more IGNORANCE to them than outright RACISM. But I totally agree with you that almost everyone from those areas could benefit from an upbringing like mine. It would do a lot to fix race relations.
  12. Get the first SJ DVD if you want to know how it starts. The first episode is really good. But season two is where the show takes off. Especially Jack vs. the Mauraders. Here's a quick ep breakdown 201 Jack Learns to Jump Good. Great episode, cute but with some nice kung fu. 202 Three Stories of Jack. Okay ep, I liked the jokes in the first, the off kilter unease of the second, and the irony of the third. 203 Jack in the Battledome. Various battles. Good action, not much else, good for what it is. 204 Jack and the Scotsman II Great great ep. Nice scottish lore, good fights, and pretty nice dialog. Excellent ep overall. 205 Jack vs. Mauraders Top 3 Jack ep, best in season. minimal in everything but action. 206 Jack's Memories after an all action ep comes an ep devoted to who Jack is and how he became the man he is. Full of japanese feudal imagery, and almost nothing more, this episode is beatiful. 207 Jack vs. the Mountain Decent action, but mostly another story about how and why Jack fights. Nothing spectacular except some of the artwork. 208 Jack vs. the Smell a somewhat silly but artistically creative piece. 209 Jack vs. the Hunters another pure action story, continues the excellent tradition of this show, no dialog, merely a story told through actions. 210 Jack vs. Demongo This battle is interesting because of the variety and number of Jack's foes. Stellar art direction again, 2nd best ep in season 211 Jack vs. the White Rabbit a chase episode. A change a pace certainly, has some interesting takes off of the Lewis classic, but nothing exceptional. 212 Jack and the Centurions Superb, tied with Demongo for 2nd place. Best looking art of the season, if not most creative or effective. Good music, and just atmosphere out the wazoo. That this is on TV and not more appreciated is sad. 213 Jack needs Shoes What to do when your sandals break. Some laughs, a little action, and a touching ending. Not outstanding but fully acceptable. Thats season two. Everyone is great, except possibly the White Rabbit ep. The Demongo ep, the Centurions, and ESPECIALLY The Mauraders are classic eps. Seasons three and four have even better episodes, somehow, but these are all totally worth seeing. I'll breakdown seasons three and four whenever they're released if I remember.

So you're saying they haven't "Faced their Racism"?

Dean For DNC Chair Thread #2

So every GOB southern Republicans will drop out of the race because they want to see Condi win? Because I have a feeling they'd win a lot of those states. Mike, I'm not shocked at all that you'd proclaim these things, given who you are, what you do, and what you say. But just check your history. Racism is eliminated the same way across the world. Slowly and over time. Single people rarely have such epiphanies that they become markedly better people, especially if they've had decades of negative education. My point is, the more racism existed, the longer it will stay. The best and IMO only countermeasure for not just POLICY racism but personal internal prejudice is simple exposure to people different from you. Thats why ALL of white-bread America is slightly prejudiced when it comes to minorities, from Jersey to Alabama. They don't get normal exposure. They the movies, TV, music, everything else. But back to my original point, I'd say that racism is "eliminated" from a society at a certain pace. If it had been eliminated from the South, a term synonomous with racism, it would have been long gone from the North. Perhaps synonomous is a slighly over-strong term. A word associated with racism however.

Or are you going to try and argue that the south has somehow had LESS racism in it's history than the north? I KNOW we have racists here in MD, and I KNOW there are racists as far north as Maine. But I also KNOW that the south has always been and always will be worse than the north as far as race relations go. I'm sure the last racist man will be a southerner.

The reason northeners don't think a black PERSON or any woman will ever get the WH is because we have ZERO faith in Southerners not to be ignorant. Zero.

At least Bush loves the enviornment....

    1) I disagree with that statement wholeheartedly Vyce. Just because the media has made a larger deal over it than anything else means exactly diddly shit. 2) Mike, you seem to refuse to acknowledge my point. The planet will always endure, this is irrefutable. But we fully have it in ourselves to ruin our own environment for ourselves. We've done it before, and we do it now, and we'll keep doing it, until we learn not to. And it's your mentality that partially fuels it.
  19. EricMM

At least Bush loves the enviornment....

I takes a special level of ignorance to believe that we can only pose a gnats level of threat to ourselves and our own. Which you will never seem to grasp.

Live from Saitama, It's Velociday Night!

At least they moved the match from the opener to the Main Event. I'll never understand why they (WWE) don't pick up more ROH talent like they did with London. He obviously pops the crowd well enough. Spanky, London, Styles, even Punker could provide a certain contrast to the Show/JBL contests the WWE sorely needs.

At least Bush loves the enviornment....

Read up on the Bay, Mike, before you clamor about our "startling" ability to do anything about our pollution. Ecological damage takes a "startling" amount of money and manpower to fix, if it can be fixed at all. A lot of it CANNOT in fact be properly treated by us, relying merely on natures slow recuperation. Here's a hint, there are thousands of jobs in the Bay, and Millions and Millions if not Billions of dollars invested in it's resources, both food wise and recreational. But those resources are dwindling, almost gone. All because some fucking farms and sewage plants don't want to heed damage to local ecosystems when dealing with waste (points to initial article above)
  24. EricMM

At least Bush loves the enviornment....

No. I assume he doesn't place as much value on the environment as he does on interest groups and material resources. I am not saying that man shouldn't affect his environment, but there is a maximum. And you think there's no effect on the environment? That it's not long lived? Check out the motherfucking Chesapeake Bay.
  25. EricMM

At least Bush loves the enviornment....

And my point is, these scientists aren't arguing about doomsday theories, they're arguing about effect on local areas by certain practices. And Bush is telling them not to. But here's a hint: If we fuck up local ecosystems everywhere that we like to live, what the fuck do we have left?
