So they'll get married in tuxes.
-
Stop baiting me, Ostrich. SP if you're so in favor of religion and state being integrated, please move to the middle east, or some other pissant place where people can't live happily without everyone worshiping the same way they are. Face it, this country was based upon a freedom from persecution. If you look at Gay Marriage from a secular viewpoint, it's merely stabilizing and healthy. The state's decisions are supposed to be based upon secular reasoning. Otherwise we'd never get anything done in our SECULAR society. Again, this ISN'T a theocracy, because religions are very bad at governing countries. They're very old and people tend not to update them. Because some religions, even some Christian religions, can't bear to stretch. Christ was one liberal guy, and here you are having his name used to oppress people. Come on. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me why Gay Marriage isn't a good idea on Non-religious reasons.
-
But economics is a secular reason why gays should be allowed to marry. I have yet to hear a secular reason why they oughtn't be allowed to marry.
-
Saying that it's against God's teachings should have NOTHING to do with American law. Nothing. If you can't find a better argument than that, then you're arguing on opinion.
-
You cannot argue this on theological grounds SP. This isn't a theological issue. It's a state issue.

What is it about?

Gay marriage would be as good for America as strait Marriage is. Obviously there are benefits for strait marriage, because marriage is a strengthening and uniting force for budding families. When you're married, you're more likely to help someone through school, or share investments. Build yourselves up together. This is economically good, since the more education people get, and the more investing they do, the better we all are. So there are government benifits for marriage. Thus, it follows that if two gay people marry, they are more likely to help each other prosper, and develop educationally and financially. They are more likely to invest, and are more likely to live long lives. All these things are good for America. Thus, gay marriage is good for America. Is this wrong?

I would, NoCalMike. Fuckers voting for a candidate who is against gay marriage or against abortions because it's the "Christian" thing to do. Meanwhile, he starts wars. Yeah.

God this whole shit is so durty. I saw a couple of the so called fliers put up by someone in florida, and they're just stupid. I don't care if it was the Reps trying to scare blacks, or Dems trying to infuriate them. This is all sick and needs to stop...

Well Tyler I was sitting at the bar, eating the free nosh. I had a red collared shirt and Cargo pants. Blondish hair... I had already asked a guy/girl pair next to me if he was Tyler, and the answer was no, so I didn't feel like asking anyone else. The food was really good, and the drinks were as well. If more people had gone it would really have been something

Yeah well, what were you wearing? I was there from 8 til 10:40 when the guy in the Bush mask came in. Besides, I was tired, and the metro stops running at some point.

The open bar was all I could have asked for, but the attendance left something to be desired (and I'll leave it at that)

New thread for posting pictures of yourself.

I cannot believe someone listed Deathcab for Cutie.

eh you could be right... but on the other hand, you're naming what, a couple of bands for the last forty years? There were many MANY hacky crappy artists with no souls back then. Granted, the music "industry" was owned by musicians at least somewhat back then, while today it's entirely corporate, it's not THAT much worse. There's still fine music, just usually not on big labels.

Of course Samurai Jack is epic. I gotta get the rest of the DVD's when they come out (the first few eps were a little weak besides the first one, at least compared to what the recent ones were.) Speaking of DVD's. 11/16/04, Home Movies season one drops!

Check the avatar of course. Rocko's Modern Life was so gold. I really like the Gen-X son of the neighbors. And the little Poo's. And Eek the cat.

In all fairness, I think the quote was "cockfag" My favorite quotes? "No mi amo" or however you say "I don't like this!" when that guy was being swept away. "It's not about sex, it's about trust!" "$1.05"

Its fun, but it just seems like too few characters are the only usable ones. Storm, Magneto, and Sentinal seeming to be the best...

Its not like he was given all that money by his family OR MTV. He made it skating.

No, see Mike, that just proves her point. She was being funny there. Clearly, thankfully, she is 50 miles away. Hey, how many of the GUYS here think that they're pretty funny? I know that, in person, I can make a lot of people laugh. I don't know jokes, tho, so I can't really do it online. It's all responsive.
-
Again, how many funny GUYS do you all know? I can think of maybe three. MAYBE. I can think of one maybe two girls. Seems pretty fair, especially since I live with and meet more guys than girls. But I will agree w/ the Hillary Duff comment in general. If more girls and guys got their humor from Seinfeld, Home Movies, and the Simpsons and less from Friends and I dunno what else, we'd be a much funnier country.
-
If, Mike, if Stewarts claims were valid, you still would deem it unprofessional to actually debate on a debate show? And you may say that his techniques of calling a guy a dick is "unprofessional" but you aren't one to talk about respecting anyone else's anything. I know this isn't a cable news show, just a message board, but a argument is an argument, no matter what the forum.
-
I recognize your capacity to be meaner than almost anyone on the board. Go you. The point is, you RABIDLY attack anyone who supports Moore, or Kerry, let alone anyone more liberal, and diss anyone who does the opposite. This guy was new, and you disagreed with him. Instead of arguing with a new guy you called him a quote, free thinker, unquote (obviously sarcastic) and a lemming, followed by a douche. Only by disagreeing w/ you did he deserve this? You, Mike, are the lemming, YOU mike are the douche. You make snap judgements about people based upon their decisions around one movie, or one candidate. Not only that, but you unleash such vitrol based upon ZERO cause, and you drive away so many people, it's staggering. The only people around here who can survive your noise are the people who learn to ignore that guy with the pink avatar and baby Edwards in his sig. You debate nothing. You SCREAM.
