Yes. This is the Republicans fault.

Tax the rich / undo the tax cuts.

Vyce, we will certainly see. When Malaki can not beat him down straight away you know he has some sort of power. AND when he has to keep pushing back the deadline of his demands... it doesn't make him look good.

Oh you think everyone you disagree with is a cult. Ron Paul is a cult. Obama is a cult...

We'll see. Doesn't he control Basra, a major oil city? FWIW he needs to be isolated, as radical and as problematic as he is, but if he's managing to fight off the official Iraqi military, I don't think he's exactly weak right now.

I am routinely surpised that I can bike, walk, take the bus, or drive in four minutes to two grocery stores, two movie theatres, a shopping mall, etc... and not everyone else can. But please, I still want to know who else has long commutes. I'm commiserate!
-
How far do you have to drive everyday, everybody? If I drive for my commute, it's ~10 miles per day, total. 2000 corolla with 100k miles on it, gets about 30 mpg.

Pardon me, Marney. Fresh water. Salt gunks everything up.

If we're going to spend billions and billions and decades on energy sources in America, lets make it something that doesn't make our problems worse. (Oil shale and tar sands require VAST amounts of water to refine into fuel and emit more CO2 than oil does) In other words, there has to be a limit to what you'll ignore to get your cheap gas.
-
Baltar is still great.

Jingus probably doesn't even consider CO2 to be a pollutant.

America's love affair with the car is about to turn very ugly. It was like a senator from some midwest state said the other week: We don't have the luxuries of some senators from the East Coast. We need to drive, far, everywhere. We don't have buses or trains or subway systems. Well guess what, oil and by extension gas is an extremely volatile energy source, when it comes to pricing I mean. We can't make any more of it, and even if we were to start drilling *everywhere* we want to AND started refining all the tar sands and oil shale in NA, we wouldn't see a drop of that energy for decades. This bed was made thirty to ten years ago. Now we have to lie in it. I wish to god we could get off corn-based ethanol though. That's not what's really driving up food costs, it's the higher cost of processing and transportation due to fuel. But ethanol is a massive boondoggle, and the billions we're putting into it could be better put into something else.

Hilary Clinton doesn't have any money to pay for non-stock footage.
-
Unless she's using sleeping girl footage from the 1950's, it's statistically likely.

Support local wind energy co-ops! It does cost more, but not THAT much more AND if you power has been going up 50% annually like mine has, it won't cost more for much longer.

Shit is going to hit the fan this summer. Neither of the above things is going to happen. Oil is just expensive world-wide.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...id=sec-business I was there man. Don't ever tell me that we need more production capacity. Because five of the top executives of U.S. gasoline producers were asked about it and NONE of them said they need more production. They LOVE the bottlenecks in the system. They just want less environmental regulation so they can pump oil more cheaply. No intention for selling gas for less.

Tangents are relevant because we never stay on topic ever. I got no problem with anyone at the Pit posting here, now that WP is banned from The Pit.

Speculation on the reason for Marney's current marital status.

I can't see paying more than $200 for a pair. Christ. I see we have another support of fair wages. Bully! -
I didn't say it was. I wasn't addressing the issue at hand, merely a tangent raised.

That place could do with a nice coat of paint anyhow. White House, sounds so racist. We should paint it rainbow colors! That way we're mutlicultural, AND we make the gays happy.

Let me also say that no one has ever come at me with a knife. God forbid. So whether or not I am some sort of gentleman, I certainly handle my shit enough that situations don't come to that.

No, he went right to his apparent gut instinct of blaming women who get raped, which was basically what the entire argument was about. Again, he said he was sorry. The fact that you can't appreciate what he did was wrong is mystifying.
-
From my perspective as a feminist, anyone ANYONE tries to come at you with a knife, you stop them however you can. I'm sorry, but girls aren't made of fine china, and someone tries to cut me they WILL get bruised while they're disarmed, and they will get bruised while they're subdued, and they will not get up til the cops come and take them away. Mike should have stood up for himself. Women are physically weaker than men, but that doesn't make it okay for them to beat on you.
-
I did not go into the details as to where or when or by whom my friends were raped. He had no idea, at all, any of the logistics. And yet, he told me that it was their fault they couldn't, "keep their legs shut" He was a reprehensible idiot in that thread, which he apologized for. Don't defend him.
