I wanted to post this on the 3rd, but I couldn't get to a computer. The man is honestly my hero. I know that he was a drunk, but you couldn't deny that he left an impact on the Earth, especially in music. Without reading his bio, I would have never persued many of the books that have had a huge impact on my life (After knowing what influenced him) and never had an appreciation for poetry. Everyone knows who The Doors are, and they are one of the most influential bands of all time. (And my easy favorite.) Post your thoughts on this man who died 33 years ago last Saturday. (Can't wait to see what Jaxl writes, if he does.)

All I can say about The End: Smoke a bowl and light a couple of candles, then crank that shit. Make sure you are alone. Let your mind drift where it may, not really paying attention to what is going on in the song. If everyone did that I think the song would be a lot better understood. Maybe it's just me

Huge hockey news, and if the season actually gets started you're looking at early Cup favorites. Whoever it was that had all the Lalime hate on the board, congratulations.

Hate to disagree with one of my favorite posters on the board, but LA Woman is the greatest song of all time. Just an opinion. Other gems for those who disagree with the band's influence. Number 42 on Rolling Stone's survey of musicians who were asked who the most influential bands of all time were. Three albums (The Doors, Strange Days, LA Woman) hit the list of 500 greatest albums of all time. One of the "50 moments that defined rock" in, again, Rolling Stone. (Mother, I want to fuck you at Whiskey A Go Go) First lead singer to do a stage dive, although it was an accident, worked it into his shows and now everyone in an audience thinks about doing it at least once. First lead singer to be arrested on stage. (New Haven, Connecticut) Rest in peace, my friend, rest in peace.

You can't say The Doors wouldn't have been popular only if he hadn't died. All of their six records went at least gold, they had three number one singles (Light My Fire, Hello I Love You, and Touch Me), and were the number one band from America for most of their career. In fact, I'm pretty sure the Beatles and The Stones were beating them in sales and drawing power at the time. I was thinking of getting a lizard tat somewhere, but haven't decided for sure.

Don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that if you already own a PS2 then the PS3 will come as an add on and only cost like 100 or so dollars. If this is true, then I would have to say Sony would be the marketing geniuses.

There was a user on the forum who had a quote by Minyamoto (Creator of Mario Bros.) that was totally cool. I forgot to write it down and here I am, can't find the thing. It was something about things not being what they seem and warriors and doorways or something. Any help is greatly appreciated.
-
Nevermind, I got it. "What if everything you see is more than what you see- the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn't? You either dismmiss it, or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you'll find many unexpected things."

Here's the only things I've heard that would point to him being murdered. 1) The police (not Sting) supposedly found five times the amount of heroin in him that it would take to kill a human being i.e. somebody pumped a shitload of heroin in his veins to cover themselves. 2) Supposedly a handwriting analyst concluded that the handwriting in the last five lines of the suicide note didn't match the rest of it, or any of Cobain's for that matter. Keep in mind, I've HEARD these things, not verified. Take them for what you will, I'm taking the Socrates way out of this one. (I admit I don't know, therefore I am right)

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. That's about all I can say. The Flames did totally deserve that win though. I'm about as big a Lightning fan as anyone, but I have to say something that's been bugging the hell out of me lately... Where the hell has Dave Andreychuk been in this series? If I was in his shoes and hadn't touched the Stanley Cup in 22 YEARS, I think my 42 year old legs might just be able to churn a little bit more, ala Steve Yzerman with his gimpy knee the last time the Wings were in the finals. (Born in Detroit, raised in Tampa) Anyways, I hope to God there is a Game 7, and for anyone who is in the area, I'll be at the Forum, outside (my poor ass can't get in) chugging beer at 12 noon and watching the game on the big screen, even though it's like 25 dollars for parking. In short, if the Flames eliminate my Red Wings and Lightning in the same year, I think I might have to take a flight to Canada and burn the country down. Let's Go Lightning.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 Yes, it is a newer movie and this could be the reason for all the love, but it's my fav due to all the swordplay, comic book style filming, and hot chicks. Plus it has David Carradine from Kung Fu, which is my all time favorite TV show. While it may not be a better film from a critical point of view, it's still my clear favorite. Props to everyone for putting all three Tarantino films that got nominated into the final four.

Inspired by the best movie ever thread, I decided to do a best TV show ever thread. All nominations are welcome, with the exception of sports shows (Like Monday Night Football, SportsCenter, etc...) and wrestling. Reality TV is welcome. What I'm looking for is your 10 favorite shows of all time. The top 16 will be seeded into brackets ala NCAA, except it will be a one sided tree. Voting ends, oh we'll say Monday at 9PM, since everyone will probably be checking out RAW. (Yes, I realize the irony.) Let the voting begin.... Simpsons Seinfeld That 70s Show Kung Fu Cheers South Park Family Guy Frasier All In The Family Taxi EDIT: I can't fucking believe I forgot All In The Family. Thanks BigJig

Last year before a Canucks and I think the Wild (I can't remember) playoff game, my buddy asked me, "So what's goin down in the game tonight?" and I just blurted out, "The Canucks will win 4-3 due to the Wild hitting the post." In the second period the Wild proceeded to hit the post twice. Then, with one second left in the game, Wild up 3-2, Bertuzzi scores, sends it to OT, and the Canucks win it. My jaw dropped for a good 2 hours after that one.

Well, people's opinion's can change over time and new members can join so I'm gonna say Seinfeld and Monty Python are fine. And yes, Behind The Music goes as well. As for the whole 16 instead of 32 thing.... well, I can only get on a computer one or two days a week, plus, I'm lazy. Am I the only person here who likes Kung Fu? Oh well, the people have spoken.

The songs that always seem to work are drunken bar country style ones like "Friends In Low Places"
