Wow. They have Sean Taylor as starting Free Safety. No one plays defense in the Pro Bowl anyway. I don't see why a dead safety is any less effective. It's a joke I've made before, but I'll reiterate that Sean Taylor is about as likely to show up for the game as most of the living selections.

Yeah I guess so, but I have a hard time making an absolute judgment on the quality of a coach based on the way the ball bounced in 14 games. Everyone ends up voting for the coach of the team that outperformed their expectations the most. How much or how little that performance actually has to do with coaching seems to be an afterthought.

Maybe I'm missing the point of this poll, but it seems vary narrow and in the mold of "what have you done for me lately?" to call Crennel the best coach in the NFL or Billick the worst. Shouldn't we factor in track record and overall preparation and weigh in more heavily than a season that went awry because of a few bad performances? Belichick and Dungy are the two best coaches in football and have been for the past 5+ years. They've won in different ways and with changing groups of players. Jauron isn't the best coach of anything and Crennel was an abject failure before he Derek Anderson saved his ass. Billick and Lovie should be immediately discounted from this analysis, as they actually built teams that made it to the Super Bowl. Coughlin has consistently put a good team on the field for sevearl years now. What was the criteria for this poll?

Alex Rodriguez has dumped Scott Boras to sign with Guy Oseary. Oseary is a celebrity agent whose client list includes Madonna and David Blaine. Not sure what sort of impact this has on A-Rod or the Boras camp. A-Rod has signed his last professional deal and Boras still has the best squad of clients in the game. Does put a slightly different light on the entire opt out and re-negotiation though.

Ok! Worst Match: Chris Benoit vs. Daniel Benoit. It was a total squash with the aging veteran getting all the offense and not letting the young rookie show his stuff. At least he won clean with the crossface.

As for the letter grades accompanying each player, A usually denotes a future star, B is a solid major leaguer and C (which I haven't included here) are guys with an outside shot of making a roster. I didn't watch much wrestling this year. All I know is Vince died, but not really, Chris Benoit murdered his entire family because he had to go to ECW, most of the roster was implicated in steroid distribution rings but it's okay because wrestling is just entertainment and there was a 15th anniversary show months before the actual anniversary that featured such illuminaries as the Goon, Knuckleball Schwartz and Skinner, but not the Rock. Really? If this thing outs Clemens, Pettitte, Tejada, Pujols, Gagne and others, I'd consider it a big success. None of those names are shocking, but having some proof goes a long way to ending this whole steroid mystery. Bonds and company have been taking the flack for this whole mess for too long.

Colin Cowherd saw the list and while he didn't name any names he did say that a "midwestern slugger that will upset a lot of people" and a "former Dodger reliever who got great out of nowhere" are in the report. One could reasonably assume that he is referring to Pujols and Gagne.

I used to have bunch of World Class and most of the SNME's from the mid to late 80s on tape but I'm sure my parents got rid of that stuff years ago.
