    The Dark Knight

There was a generation of people that were raised on the campiness of the old Adam West Batman show. For them, a realistic approach that follows the graphic novels doesn't make a lot of sense. Your expecatattion likely depend on what source material you are familiar with.

    Pizza Hut

We have several Pizza Huts in the area, but most of them are the takeout/delivery variety described earlier. I have never seen this Italian Bistro thing.

I would think any team that trades for him would move him to first or left. There is no reason to continue that adventure at the hot corner.

According to Peter Gammons, the Florida Marlins will shop Miguel Cabrera in the offseason. Forget your Alex Rodriguez or Johan Santana, this is the true prize of the offseason. I want the Sox to pursue Cabrera, but I know any package will start with Buchholz and Ellsbury and I still don't think that will be enough with the Yankees, Dodgers and Angels ready and able to offer more. So the question is, what would you give up to acquire Miggy? What sort of extension does he warrant?

I also don't think he expected the team to pass of Jermaine O'Neal and Jason Kidd because of Andrew fucking Bynum. The team was coming off of four Finals appearances in five years. He probably didn't recognize how horrible this front office would turn out to be.

    Pizza Hut

When I was in college, Papa John's used to offer large pizzas for $9 after 9PM. If you were a student of the school, pizzas were buy one, get one free. Ergo, we could get two large pizzas for $9. It was the greatest thing in the world for drunk, starving and broke college kids.

Not really though. In that case, the contract would designate x number of teams that the player won't be traded to without permission. That's not what Kobe has in his contract. He has a full no-trade, allowing him to veto any trade that he doesn't find suitable for whatever reason. Altough Kobe might be my least favorite player in the NBA, it's the Lakers who got themselves into this mess.

    Your first favorite band

My first exposure to music was Michael Jackson's Thriller. The first actual band that I was into had to be either Motley Crue or Aerosmith.

I know that you're upset with Kobe, but the Lakers are the team that gave Kobe a full no-trade clause (the only one in the entire league, to my knowledge). He doesn't want to end up with the Bulls if they are going to be just as bad as the Lakers. His whole complaint since last trade deadline was that his team wasn't doing anything to try to be contenders. I understand the team's decision to pick Kobe over Shaq, given their respective ages and ability. I do not understand the decision to keep Bynum over Kobe, and when you boil all this nonsense down, that's what's at the heart of this whole mess.

Alex Rodriguez to opt out of Yankees Contract

Anaheim is considered the prime landing spot for A-Rod because they have tons of cash, are committed to boosting the payroll by a large amount next year and overall, have a desperate need for a middle of the order hitter behind Vlad. On top of that, southern California is about as perfect a destination for A-Rod as you can imagine. Perennial contender in a large market that supports the team, but doesn't have a media that will devour the players. He can slip right in at short or third right now and move to first in a few years when his defense is gone.

    Commissioner for a day

it wouldnt have to be the Brewers but if a team does move from the NL to the AL, which I think should happen, the Brewers should have the right of first refusal since they were in the AL. If they choose to stay in the NL, move a team that does not have much tradition in the NL like the D-Backs, Nats, or Marlins (especially if they move from miami in a few years like the rumors i have heard) It's been beaten to death, but: AL: 14 teams. NL: 16 teams. Both leagues need to have an even number of teams for scheduling purposes. Unless we want to start interleague play all season (god no), both leagues need to have even numbers. There's no need to move any team out of or into either league right now. Period. Interleague all year would be fine No, it wouldn't. Please just stop.

I don't understand the fascination with Torii Hunter at all. He's got a good glove, but the defensive repuation outweighs the current performance and it's only going to get worse in the next few years. He has a little pop, but is light on OBP and a really average hitter overall. He seems like a 4/$40 type player, but he turned down 5/$75 to stay with Minnesota and wants close to $100 million. Torii Hunter is NOT worth that, even in this crazy upside down free agent world.

Alex Rodriguez to opt out of Yankees Contract

It has nothing to do with him wanting to leave or anything like that. Manny is a player that this front office has never coveted. While he has a superb bat, he gives back a lot of that with his defense and lack of hustle. I don't know how to properly evaluate what his total contributions are, but the front office does and we'll see how that develops next offseason. My guess is they'll let him walk, or at least gauge interest in picking up the option and trading him. I love Manny, but even I can see that a hitter entering his late 30s and making $20 million a year might not be the best use of resources. But we have an entire year to see how this team develops and what sort of options are available next offseason. It at least appears that Teixeira and Dunn will both be available, and they are much better options for power going forward.

The chances of Manny returning after 2008 are 50/50 at best.

They cruised to the Western Conference Finals last year and only got a sub-par year out of AK-47 in the process. They have a great young core, an excellent coach and some postseason experience. What's not to like?

According to MLB Trade Rumors, Eric Gagne is a Type B free agent. Okay, now I'm finally willing to admit that the trade was a failure.

Alex Rodriguez to opt out of Yankees Contract

There are some problems with this, namely the fact that Manny is a free agent after 2008, not in three years. Futhermore, given the way this lineup is typically constructed and how resources are allocated, any A-Rod acquisition would probably lead to an immediate Manny trade. It doesn't have as much to do with finances as much as acquiring A-Rod would give them some flexibility to reshape the roster and get Manny out of left field. Oh, and as for A-Rod's non-existent injury history. Who was the last major superstar in his early 30s that we could say that about? Ken Griffey Jr. Nothing's a sure thing when it comes to injury. This is the kind of thinking that can get a team in trouble. Going broke for A-Rod because we need a 3B and he's the best available is the easy solution. JD Drew and Julio Lugo were the easy solution last year and neither has worked out the way the team envisioned. There were no SS in the system a year ago, but now Jed Lowrie's blocked by a $9 million SS with a 65 OPS+. Things change and it's better not to handicap yourself. Oh and by the way, no 3B in the system? We have an excellent 3B on the team right now and his name is Kevin Youkilis. There are a lot of creative solutions for the corner infield positions this offseason. No need to make a gross overpay for Lowell or A-Rod unless the team feels they can sign them to a deal that will mirror the future returns from each player.

    The Dark Knight

There are far more people like this that exist than you would ever believe. In fact, I think the most common response I get when I mention how much I enjoyed Batman Begins is "I guess it was alright. I didn't think it could hold up to the originals."

He'd be right there, but you still have to give it to Danny Ainge, who acquired two Hall of Famers by only giving up one player that stands a chance at making an All-Star game.

The Cincinnati Reds exercised their 2008 option on OF Adam Dunn for $13 million. In exercising the option, Dunn receives a full no-trade clause through June 15 and a limited no-trade through the end of the year. Cinci's GM has discussed the possibility of a long-term extension.
