Holy shit is that awful. It's like they've been eating paint chips up there.

Actually it wasn't because he disagreed with McNabb. It was because he said "it's not my fight to fight". I didn't know what the hell his problem was, and he even later acknowledged that Young would really not know anything about what McNabb was talking about (since Young has been hyped up positively since entering the league and hasn't really seen the level of criticism that McNabb gets). Yeah, I finally saw the segment last night. I thought Vince Young handled himself extremely well. He seemed to understand that it wasn't his place to get mixed up this garbage. I applaud him. Wilbon, on the other hand... quit playing the damn race card.

Speaking of idiots, Richard Justice is one.

Doesn't surprise me. Wilbon, himself, loves playing the race card.

But Adam Dunn doesn't have a good batting eye. That is why he strikes out so much. It is a common misconception that players who walk a lot have good batting eyes. However, in reality, the opposite often rings true. The reason Adam Dunn walks as much as he does is because of how he murders the ball when he makes contact. Pitchers are afraid to challenge in the zone because of what might happen. The walks are a direct result of the pitchers recognizing his power. It would be nice if he could lay off the bad pitches and develop a good batting eye while retaining his hitting ability. Then you'd have Barry Bonds. Unfortunately, those only come along once in a generation. Players can hit for average and players can hit for power. Adam Dunn happens to be one of the best at doing the latter. You should appreciate what he offers because there are dozens of teams that wish they could have it.

They're good... and they're better than the Phillies.

# whatever. "Sources" say Kurt Angle is dead.

Pennington and Kitna are not better than McNabb. Bulger and Brees you could argue for (I wouldn't), but not the other two. Don't forget about Hasselbeck, who was right up there before his injury last year.

You'd want Juan Pierre, who has at least a 5% better chance of getting out and has about a 0% better chance of hitting a homerun.
-
Juan Pierre is probably the worst leadoff hitter in all of MLB. You're insane. By the way, have you heard of three true outcomes. A baseball player has control over three things: homeruns, walks and strikeouts. Everything else is completely in the hands of the defense, park effects, and a bunch of other stuff that has nothing to do with the batter at all. That's why we have a thing called BABIP (Batting Average on Balls in Play). Over a large enough sample, all players will have about a .300 average on balls that are put into play. There's no skill there. That's why batting averages are all over the map from year to year and OBP stays relatively consistent. The goal of baseball is to score more runs than the other team before you use up your 27 outs. The goal of a hitter is to not get out. The goal is not getting a hit. You are embarrassing yourself. Please stop while you are so far behind and pick up Baseball Between the Numbers, or Moneyball, or the Book, or the Bill James' Historical Baseball Abstract. There's a lot of good stuff there.

Examples of a Wrestler TRULY Being Put Over

Seems like a better scenario might have been having Warrior beat a transitional heel for the belt (Hennig or Savage) and saving the Hogan match for WMVII. By that time, they would have known whether or not he was working out as champ. If he was, a final Hogan job might have truly put him over the top. If he wasn't, they could go to the tried and true formula of a Warrior turn on Hogan with Hulk vanquishing him in the blowoff a la WMV. -

Wow, how does a post start with a strong point and end up like that? -
Francona stated today that the team is shutting down Hideki Okajima for a while, perhaps the rest of the regular season. Eric Gagne, despite last night's blow-up and the three previous blown saves, will serve as the team's primary set-up man for the remainder of the season. No plans to try MDC or Timlin in an expanded role. I know that the most important thing down the stretch is resting players and aligning the rotation properly for the playoffs, but I'd really like to win the division. I just don't think I could bear all the Yankees' fans rubbing in the fact that they came back from a 14 game deficit. The front office seems more concerned with other matters, however, and will try to work out kinks before the playoffs. I hope it works out.

I thought it was $420 million. He had a ten percent ownership stake.

50 has his Vitamin Water money now. He should just quit the business. Who needs this shit when you have a half-billion dollars?

I know a little about Ryan Leaf through some mutual friends and they gave the impression that he never really wanted to play in the NFL. He scored that first contract and invested wisely in real estate in the Seattle, Washington area. I know there was a lot of other noise going on with his career (off the field antics, injuries), but his friends think he never really had the desire to play more than a couple of years and that he thinks of himself as a genius for getting out early as a rich man.

Hogan himself admits that the stole the spotlight after his loss to Warrior at Wrestlemania VI. From Hollywood Hulk Hogan: I doubt that could be seen as truly putting someone over. I understand that it's considered by many as Hogan stealing the spotlight, but that was not the reaction I had when I watched it originally. It seemed like a symbolic gesture by Hogan to show that he had to accept the fact that he was no longer the man and that Warrior had passed him by. We all know how things ended up, but on that night, the Warrior was the biggest thing in wrestling. -
I have it too. Wasn't that hard to get back in the day.

My thread was an abortion, but at least people are back and arguing in the socket. Good times.
