Stan Van Gundy was offered the head coaching position with the Orlando Magic Tuesday. However, he flew out to Sacramento to meet with the Kings brass again. One might infer that he would be leaning towards taking that job, but we'll see.

The league caught up to him. I predicted this about a year ago.

I think I'd get burned out watching that many ladder matches. Your mileage may vary though.

I can't for the life of me think of any reason to go to Vegas if you aren't going to gamble, drink and go to strip clubs. That's everything that makes it special.

Keith Law's not my favorite, but this was funny.

I'd like to see it posted too. I know he said that the 06 Heat and 77 Blazers were among the worst winners and 81 Rockets were in the bottom five overall during his chat. That Rockets team has to be the worst. And before someone says this year's Cavs, he said they'll end up in the low 40s depending on the average margin of victory for the Spurs. He commented on the '01 Lakers. He said they maybe had the most dominant postseason run but that they were a weak regular season team. He weighted both in his analysis.

I'm heading down again this weekend for a bachelor party. Any suggestions on good strip clubs? I was unimpressed with the Spearmint Rhino last time. Staying at the Tropicana because I heard they have a good pool scene and decent tables.

Did anyone catch John Hollinger's rankings of the 60 teams to play in the NBA Finals since the merger? With the exception of the first 10, you have to have Insider. But here were the top teams: 1. 96 Bulls 2. 87 Lakers 3. 86 Celtics 4. 91 Bulls 5. 97 Bulls 6. 85 Lakers 7. 92 Bulls 8. 99 Spurs 9. 83 76ers 10. 89 Pistons

If the Pistons decide they want to blow it up, Hamilton and Prince are probably the only two guys who would be untouchable. You're not getting them for Kirilenko.

In shocking news, Daunte Culpepper was informed by Miami that he will be traded before the season starts. I wonder how much they can get for a guy that they've all but buried ever since he got there. When you fall behind Cleo Lemon on the depth chart, your market value tends to go down. I'd like to see the Raiders offer a late round pick for him and see if they can't salvage something while Russell learns the ropes. So who mucked up their QB position worse this offseason, Houston or Miami? Both teams made huge spectacles for months before settling on talent that probably doesn't upgrade them that much, devaluing their incumbents in the process.

I'd have no qualms about drafting Durant second even with his poor performance at the combine. We've already seen what he can do in games and that's enough for me. However, I'd like to see him add a little muscle before he gets in the league. That's just begging for an injury. I mean, benching 185 pounds is not very much, especially for a someone his size.

Apparently the five Cy Youngs and World Series MVP don't mean anything either. I turned off the show before he finished his argument, but he said Randy was never more than the 5th or 6th best pitcher in his era. Who was better? I can think of Clemens, Maddux and Pedro and that's it.

I know Colin Cowherd is easy to pick on but he was on fire this morning. He should just not talk about baseball because it makes him sound ever more stupid than he usually does. In about a ten minute time frame, we got these gems: -Ken Griffey Jr. in Cincinnati was a failure because he even though he had great talent, he was never a clutch player. Supposedly, like A-Rod, he can only perform well in blowouts or with nobody on base. -Randy Johnson has more strikeouts than Clemens but he was never that good of a pitcher. He was only known for throwing at Kruk and hitting a bird. He never came up big when it mattered like Clemens (?!). He only pitched well in the National League and never in the playoffs (?). Doesn't hurt to try and talk baseball once in a while Colin, but maybe take ten minutes before the show and look up some numbers, champ.

I know Kevin Durant is a sick talent, but he couldn't bench 185 even one time?

It took him two years to post THAT? -
Cleveland Cavaliers vs San Antonio Spurs
Cheech Tremendous replied to USC Wuz Robbed!'s topic in Sports
They will go down as the definitive team of the 00s, especially since the three-peat Lakers flamed out so quickly. As I've pointed out before, they are 0.4 seconds and a flukey Manu foul away from winning 5 consecutive championships. That's just remarkable in the salary cap era. It's really a testament to the front office and and the amazingness that is Tim Duncan. -
But then the Astros might have never been blessed with Adam Everett, best defensive SS on the planet.
-
At least they acknowledged the NHL finals. That's more than they usually do these days.

Just because WWE decides to re-write history and acknowledge the WCW lineage doesn't make it so. That championship died when the belts were unified. -
A more fun fact: The Sox got Jacoby Ellsbury for Orlando Cabrera and Clay Buchholz for Pedro Martinez... in the same draft.
-
You still lose picks for Type A free agents. Draft compensation was changed for Type B and C though.
-
I can't recall even seeing an arcade in the last five years or so. I had no idea they were even still around.

Now there's a sensible idea. -
Bauer's delusional.

This is news to me. 2006 only counts as one year.
