Whoa, hella peeps here w/ crippling emotional/personality disorders. This thread makes me feel so well-adjusted, which is sort of a rare feeling. Thx dudes. -
Michael Curry needs to be fired and Rip probably needs to be traded. Too bad neither of those things is going to happen this year.

I thought about making a Cash Money retrospective thread (title: "Let Us Now Praise Famous Stunnas") but got distracted while doing research and wound up just spending an hour watching B.G. and Juvenile videos on YouTube.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

I'm not a big fan of "Country House" or "Charmless Man." Neither is anywhere near as clever or biting as Albarn probably thought they were. The former esp. is a little disingenuous, since by '97 Damon could probably afford a pretty nice country estate of his own. I do quite like "The Universal." -
Why'd this get unpinned?

"Yuko & Hiro" and "He Thought of Cars" are two of my favorite Blur songs, but that album is just waay too uneven. -
I'm picturing a skinny guy in a Vote Republican! t-shirt standing there silently watching you and yr girl fuck and it's making me chuckle a lil bit.

It ended like four years ago, man. But I meant "post-Mannie Fresh era" as in "the era following the mainstream advent of the Mannie Fresh aesthetic," not as in "after the Mannie Fresh era." The "Mannie Fresh era" itself was part of the "post-Mannie Fresh era." Sry for the confusion.

Btw y'all, I highly recommend Timberland boots for all your winter footwear needs. I originally purchased mine because of the image (I wanted to look like a Mobb Deep video), but I've found them to be extremely practical. They're really warm and super-sturdy. If you put some Dr. Scholl's insoles in them they're pretty much the perfect shoe.

Oh I just checked and mine's actually an cotton-cashmere blend. I feel a lot less fancy now

I got a cashmere sweater for Christmas. I loove it. It's so soft!

You should do that. It rocks. I read this two summers ago and I think a good 75% of it went right over my head. The writing is somewhat obscurantist (even by VN's standards) and (IIRC) the time-line is super-confusing and the genealogy of the Veen family is absurdly convoluted. The only thing that kept me from giving up on the book completely was the supple beauty of the prose. Maybe I'm just retarded, though.

Kinetic changed his names a couple times. I distinctly remember "K-Tic" and "The Kinect Four." There may have been other.s

But seriously, I always hated that guy. I don't want to come off as insensitive and say that his untimely demise has left me smiling ear-to-ear and feeling positively rapturous, so I won't. But it has.

Good riddance. I hate how even if someone was hated, when they die they become a saint. Fukk you Sensei John Kreese. I know plenty of you were saying it in his heyday and I'm sure many of you thought, "You know what, if he died, I wouldn't care." Now that he's possibly dead and if not, definitely suffering, you all are all like "Awwwwww poor Kreese." I'd hate to see how you all would respond if Josef Stalin or Chairman Mao posted here then died. "Looking beyond the fact that he killed million of his own countrymen, and the numerous spats we had in the Campaign '08 thread, it sucks that Joe died. Despite being a godless communist, I know that he is in heaven with George Carlin and Kurt Cobain watching Eddie and Benoit put on a 5 star classic."

You might want to consider getting a haircut.

The book ends the exact same way, so I'm not sure you can blame the filmmakers for it being a 'cop-out' or w/e. Blame the Nobel Prize winning author of the novel. e: I should add that while I thought the ending was really well done in the book, I could see it not translating well to the screen.
