  1. Good riddance to his stupid ass......He needs to have a conversation with Maurice Clarett (Another hopeless stupid fuck that ruined his career with stupidity). Is he gonna transfer to a different university or try to go directly into the NFL?

An announcement on that will be made Saturday, according to Vick's lawyer.

  2. He needs to grow up really quick. There's only a few teams that would take this guy, Atlanta included. I think it's best for him to be around his brother for a while.

Marcus Vick needs to be on a team led by a veteran quarterback of impeccable character who would show Vick what's what.

  3. University President Charles Steger Statement on Marcus Vick

    January 6, 2006

Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick has been permanently dismissed from the Hokie football program due to a cumulative effect of legal infractions and unsportsmanlike play.

Virginia Tech had suspended Vick in 2004. The university provided one last opportunity for Vick to become a citizen of the university and re-admitted him in January 2005, with the proviso that any future problems would result in automatic dismissal from the team.

Head Football Coach Frank Beamer met with Vick and his mother this afternoon and informed the quarterback and his family of the University's decision. His recent actions are unfortunate and we wish him well in his future endeavors.

    ****

Said Coach Frank Beamer, "I'm very disappointed that this didn't have a better ending. We wanted what's best for this football team and Marcus. I certainly wish him the best."

  4. The final NFL game on the ABC network will be Another Uninspiring Patriots Win. I guess it could be worse.

ABC has the Super Bowl so this weekend's 2nd contest won't be the final ABC game. Although I suppose that the Patriots beating an overmatched NFC team in Detroit could be uninspiring.

  5. "So why are you calling our show retard? Call the TNA show if they have one, which they probably don't."

At no point does Todd actually make an attempt to refute the claim that TNA is better. He simply makes fun of their lack of an internet call-in show.

A very strange thing to make fun of considering that TNA is actually expected to launch its own show soon.

  6. Why does it have to be in an NFL-sized stadium? Why not a smaller stadium, like where a minor league baseball team would play? Even a small, D2 college's stadium (such as Harvard's stadium) would work, and look pretty old-school, to boot.

Some of the newer soccer-specific stadiums with 20,000+ seating like Home Depot Center in the Los Angeles area would make sense. They're generally equipped to handle multiple uses such as concerts in addition to soccer. It's not too big a stretch to believe that the occasional WWE special show could work in such facilities.

  7. Cuba's been denied entry into the country by the U.S. government for the World Baseball Classic. MLB and its players union will both appeal the decision.

I'm as anti-Castro as anyone else but this denial just seems stupid and serves no useful purpose.

    AP via Yahoo.

Cuba won't be allowed to send a team to next year's inaugural World Baseball Classic, the U.S. government told event organizers Wednesday.

The decision by the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control was conveyed to Major League Baseball on Wednesday, according to Pat Courtney, a spokesman for the commissioner's office.

A permit from OFAC is necessary because of U.S. laws governing certain commercial transactions with Fidel Castro's communist island nation.

Wasn't sting already in TNA? Why, then, would his returning be a really big deal? (as opposed to just a big deal).

I think in many ways the beginning of the spike TV show marks a sort of restart for TNA. Beyond that the return of Sting is still pretty noteworthy, especially considering he never chose to sign with the WWE.

The reports that Sting is coming in full-time for the one year, not just making spot appearances like in the last go-round, make this signing somewhat more noteworthy too.

  9. Nobody wants to see heroes past their prime make a fool of themselves on tv. It seems that TNA has a mindset that if they bring in some old farts that they can draw in some new fans....well the past is the past and nostalgia is a bitch smacking master that is hard to deny but its time to think of the future and move on.

The promotion of name veterans may be more Spike TV's mindset at this point. This deal (if true) should work out better than the Kevin Nash deal at least. I feel sorry for Christian Cage though, he'll have to be knocked down for awhile to make room.

  10. I saw the rumor in rec.sport.pro-wrestling, derived from one of the minor wrestling news sites. Someone claiming to be an unidentified TNA source stated that Benoit had come to a verbal agreement with TNA. There's no known confirmation of the report on any of the more reputable sites. The report doesn't seem credible at this point.

  11. In a perfect world, Fox would shift their schedule around and stick Prison Break at 8pm on Mondays before 24. That would be by far the best back to back two hours of programing on any network on any night.

We'll get that perfect world, just be patient for it.

TVWeek reports that this week's "Prison Break" episode will be rerun on Monday, March 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. New episodes resume Monday, March 20 also in the 8 p.m., pre-"24" slot.

  12. That last spot must have been pretty cool live with real, non-pyro flames and such.

It is weird that this thing was on Tuesday night. I hope it really is a test to move it to Tuesdays because it's really hard to catch on Friday nights. (Even I manage to get out on a Friday sometimes)

Not to mention ratings would be even lower against House/Earl/Commander/Amazing Race.

The show was decent until that completely embarassing, sick and idiotic ending.

Earl wasn't on tonight (extended "Biggest Loser" season finale) but your point is well taken. The timeslot is a killer.

  13. From WWE.Com at 10:19am EST:

    NEW WWE DRUG POLICY

    From WWE.Com at 10:45am EST:

In a joint meeting today with the Raw and SmackDown rosters in the United Kingdom, in Sheffield, Vince McMahon announced that within the next several weeks, a new drug testing policy will be implemented in which performance enhancing drugs, such as steroids, etc., recreational drugs, as well as abuse of prescription drugs will be banned.

I just think it is remarkable that the word "steroids" was actually written on the WWE.com site.

It would be nice to believe that this new policy (if it is real and not just for media spin) will be instituted out of genuine concern for the wrestlers. It seems more likely that McMahon wants to have a policy in place to point to should he ever get called up to testify before a congressional committee.

And yeah, the Carters at TNA would be wise to institute their own policy.
