    MLB Off-season Thread

Great job my Minaya to get the deal done without giving up Martinez. I've only seen Humber pitch a few times and I don't like his stuff at all. He could develop but I just don't see it. Carlos Gomez has zero plate discipline but the raw skills are there. I could see him putting up a .290/.340/.450 line in a few years Mulvey and Guerra could be solid back of the rotation starters I just hope that Rick Peterson doesn't get his 'Don't throw a strike until you absolutely have to" philosophy in the mind of Santana (look how well that worked out in Sept. when teams started to realize the deal)

The Mets have pulled Carlos Gomez from winterball. It could mean nothing but it might be a sign something is going down with Santana pretty soon

    Raw Is Cena - January 28, 2008

Come on there were a couple golden lines. You act like this guy is all over TV when he's a low mid card comedy act who maybe gets one segment a show

    The 2008 Royal Rumble Thread

I think we'll get Cena/Orton, Taker/Edge and HHH/Batista for mania (unless Hunter gets himself back in the title picture)

    The 2008 Royal Rumble Thread

Bad timing for Jeff. If this was in the spring/summer he probably would have gone over. But with it being the build to Mania and with Undertaker and Hunter involved there was no way Vince was changing plans

    Worst Royal Rumble match

Agreed. Looking at it objectively, 1995 was one of the better years in WWF history workrate wise. That said (like others have been saying) it was unbearable to watch most of the time

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

Mike and I have been here all season. Don't know about anybody else

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

I don't think Tampa is more talented than the Giants. And the Packers and Cowboys are probably better but the gap is really not that big.

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

10 straight road wins. Unbelievable. I'm being serious here, do you think the media will get on Favre for that horrible pick in OT? My guess is that they'll look over it saying "he was trying to make a play" and then follow with the whole gunslinger thing.

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

My main concern about this game is that the Giants defense matches up horribly against the Packers offense. Green Bay's seemingly endless array of crossing routes and quick hitters will nullify the Giants blitz packages. Add the fact that the Giants LB's are not good cover men and it makes things even tougher for them in the middle of the field. I think the Giants will score some points but I don't know how they are going to stop them. Either way this has been a *much* better season than I thought and things kind of look bright for the future. Good first year for Jerry Reese

    Raw 1.7.08

That was quite the finish. That will be replayed for years (if Hardy sticks around) Jeff is more over than he's ever been in his career
  17. First one that comes to mind was that Sunny was going to turn on LOD and join DX in the Spring of 1998. As an off shoot Chyna would turn face and manage LOD Looking back that was pretty stupid as Tammy was out of the company by June or so. Plus Hunter would have never allowed that to happen. Owen was so beating Bret at Summerslam 94. IIRC, I thought Crush was going to win the world title around 1994 or so.

WWE General Discussion - January 2008

Same thing happened to me at a House Show in 1995 when I was sitting a row ahead of about 5-7 pre-teen/teenage girls. After Shawn Michaels came out (it was Michaels and Diesel v Mo and mabel) I swear my ear drum was busted
  19. Madden doesn't think the Jags should play for a field goal. Idiot.
  20. That was a ridiculous challenge by Del Rio. You lose your last time out and it was on a 1st down play. And now the Jags in position to win regardless

You Don't Mess With The Zohan

I'm a huge Sandler fan but it's getting harder and harder to defend him (although Chuck and Larry was suprisingly hilarious). The main problem is that he's lost that edgy vibe that he had on SNL and in his albums (listen to his first 2 albums and tell me the guy doesn't have talent). He's just coasting now as the lovable loser with a heart of hold who gets chicks that are way out of his league. But who can blame him when he's pulling in $25 million a film? He really needs to dump Dennis Duggan and Pete Segal as his main directors and start working with new people. Hopefully working with Judd and Smigel will get him back on track, although Zohan looks awful. BTW, Judd and Adam were roomates in the late 80s/early 90s and lived on the same street as Ben Stiller (hence the Judd-Ben connection), David Spade, and Jon Stewart. Like I said he needs to start working with new people, especially Judd, Smigel and hopefully Seth and Jonah (who's in the next Happy Madison production "Strange Wilderness") And the worst SNL movie of all time is "It's Pat!" Kathy Griffin has a somewhat major role. That's all that needs to be said. Worst Sandler movie is Deeds oh and Grandma's Boy is proof that Sandler still has it when he's not trying to be cute. Just awesome Stoner humor by the Sandler B team. And it has Nick Swardson in a lead role.

    *Smackdown/ECW Spoilers*

It's a Dusty booked show and that's why it's been far more enjoyable then the wreck that Raw is. ECW focuses on three people/angles and works around those. Right now, it's Punk and the carousel of challengers, the Moore/Yang-MnM wrestling-based rivalry, Benjamin's ascent to the top by laying out jobbers in an effort to rebuild him as a threat. They pepper in a squash match with a BDV or Henry just for good measure. ECW is assured to give you at least one 15 minute match every week. Actually other than the Hornswoggle stuff RAW has been pretty solid IMO. I think it's better now than it was during the summer (which, aside from a few great skits, was a disaster for obvious reasons). The workrate hasn't been there like it was in early 07 but the booking has been pretty effective.

I haven't watched ECW in a while, what is up with all the jobber stuff? Has the show been like this lately?
