Yes and it concluded with Shatner giving Lawler a monkey flip!!! I remember Shatner being on the Stern Show a few years later saying it was the most embarrassing moment of his career.

Yes, 1997 was great because the WWF finally changed how they presented wrestling. They let the fans choose who they wanted to see pushed, they had more violence, more hatred and emotion, passion, and adult themed storylines. As far as workrate, yes the undercard mostly had terrible heatless wrestling but the top programs were on fire and resulted in the kick off of the boom period. I much preferred Raw to Nitro at this point even though WCW was still putting on better wrestling throughout the card. I can see that if you really only care about workrate why you wouldn't like this period but with angles and heat it's off the charts.

Kristen sticks out because she's good at subtle comedy and doesn't blatantly over act like most of the cast. She isn't overtly funny or anything, just a well trained, solid comedic actress. She reminds me of Jan Hooks.

I called the Teddy Long/Krystal/ Vickie sexual harassment angle a few months back. Sucks to be right sometimes.

Couple of Observer Notes: Jillian Hall "spoofing" Brooke Hogan was the brainchild of Hunter and Stephanie, not Vince. The company is planning on making Ashley Massaro their top female star. She is going to be the center of the Women's division and will wrestle Melina for the title at Mania(and most likely go over) Mickie lost the title so Ashley would have an over heel in Melina to feud with. The company realizes that Ashley isn't that over but it's a deal where they are going to ignore it and push her hard anyway.

FJM makes fun of bad sports journalism. They do not make fun of "clueless" fans. They simply point out when writers and analysts say incredibly stupid things about baseball. I don't see how that makes them "dicks". FJM rules

Is anyone else dreading Steve Austin's return to WWE TV? I'm so sick of his character and he hasn't even been a regular in nearly 3 years. He's not going to put anyone over a lick and in the end he's going to probably be the one to cut Vince McMahon's hair. Plus it's going to start up the "what" chants again and make it impossible for heels to cut promos. I'd love for Umaga to no sell a Stunner and then murder Austin, but that's a pipe dream. Umaga is eating a stunner at Mania and will sell it like death. I hope after his movie comes out he's gone.

Adam Sandler's old acting coach and the old guy who has old floppy balls in Big Daddy is the President of the Academy? Awesome.

Jack seemingly is the only one laughing at Ellen's "jokes".

This show has been a complete bore so far. Ellen, as expected, has been horrible. I can't remember a show that has been this bad. Edit: Except of course for Ferrell, jack Black and John C Reilly

You may think that but if you go talk to most of the WWE mark ass fan base they think Raw is 500 times better than Smackdown, so they won't buy any Smackdown shows. I don't get all the RAW hate on this board. The show has been solid lately with logical effective booking on top and the midcard matches getting some decent time. Plus, whether you agree with the people chosen or not, there are a lot of new faces getting time which makes for a fresh show.

Just read that article. Manny Acta is awesome. A manager that downplays being "aggressive" , challenges the hackneyed notion of "moving runners along" , reads charts and stuff that have actual stats and evidence. Focusing on defensive positioning and that pesky OBP My kind of manager The part about not bunting probably made Joe Morgan cry __________________

Anyone see Austin? He was juiced to the max. Nice job Steve

Apatow is also doing a movie with Adam Sandler about a Jewish undercover agent becoming a hair dresser. Robert Smigel is a co-writer (with Judd and Sandler) Sandler and Judd were roommates in NYC the mid-late 80s and lived on the same street as Ben Stiller, David Spade and Rob Schneider

According to Meltzer, the Perfect/Hogan Program was Hogan's lowest drawing program in his initial run in the WWF.
