ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland A's

This was actually discussed on the radio this past week that the A's just aren't a national team. They never draw ratings. They can't even sell out their own ball park during the playoffs. It's a shame because they've had some truly great players over the years

Oh come on he was bound to give a run sooner or later. No pitcher is perfect. Still uptight about a fucking song?

NLCS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets

So Taguchi, who I believe is hitting like .650 lifetime vs the Mets just goes deep to give the Cards the lead
  6. Does anyone know why David hates Jim Belushi so much? I just saw that he jumped up on stage unscripted at Belushi's concert in Martha's Vineyard and was quickly thrown out. He bashes him daily on the Bob and David web site. Belushi also apparently heckled him at one his stand up shows. What's the deal?

    The Old School questions thread

Actually that sort of happened. HBK returned in the fall/winter as a heel "commissioner" and briefly feuded with DX. Then of course he was put through the windshield in the infamous angle. Shawn kept popping up on WWF TV in 99 usually to quickly disappear soon after. I have no idea what was going on with that.
  9. at least DX is feuding with actual wrestlers now

    SNL Review

Andy can't act to save his life. He might be the worst actor in the history of the show. Hardcore SNL fans tend to hate him because they mostly value acting ability over natural humor. He's going to get a big push regardless.

    SNL Review- finally here

Damn I just read about this. "Idiocracy" going straight to DVD. Not exactly a great follow up of "Office Space" for Mike Judge. Serves him right for casting Maya Rudolph in a lead role.

I think I heard Rick Sutcliffe say that Frank Thomas clogs up the base paths will all those walks. Having a beer with Dusty Baker after the game Sut?

ALDS: Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees

Late on this but my God what a terrible call that was. You have Wang on the ropes and then give him a free out. What a genius Jim Leyland is. Notice the hypocrisy in announcing in that very rarely do announcers ever criticize hit and runs because the manager is being "aggressive" yet they turn around and criticize hitters for "walking too much". Ok maybe that's just Joe Morgan but whatever

My favorite McCarverism is from some time last year (don't know if it was playoffs or regular season: "The key to being a winning team is to be a successful team"

This Jets team is a prime example of why football is pretty much the only sport where coaching makes a HUGE difference

    Vince Russo

There were a few obvious exceptions, but the WWF from Nov. 96 till August 98 was absolutely fantastic. It's probably my favorite time watching the promotion with the only exception maybe being the 86-89 period. The wrestling might not have been that great for a good chunk of the period but the booking was incredibly effective and wrestler's were getting over based on their personalities (or extensions of their real life personalities) The match times in the fall of 98 took a nose dive with an average of about 10-12 minutes of actual wrestling in a 2 hour show. 99 was tough to watch sometimes especially the fall period with the non-stop HHH-Austin stuff. If you watched only for good in ring work then this period obviously doesn't measure up but if you liked watching a national promotion with red hot wrestlers and during a mega boom, it was quite a rush.
