I hate his tone also but you have to remember that the 80s WWF product was so different than the wrestling Dave grew up on. He couldn't adjust. The business was changing and becoming less and less about in ring work (well at least in the WWF). If you watch wrestling for in ring work than 80s WWF was probably a nightmare for you. But as several mentioned above the atmosphere, the booking, and the charisma of the workers drew in an enormous new fansbase. I still believe that Dave takes some cheap shots but he did report the hard numbers. It had to be killing him that Hogan was drawing all this money, especially with people like Kamala. He just hated where the business was going where talent wasn't really necessary to be successful.

I can't imagine Vince McMahon in a wrestling match in 1987. It's unreal that was on the books until a couple months before the show. Vince in 87 was a pretty dorky announcer who had no credibility as a tough guy and he was going to work Jesse ventura?

The Mets have been hitting line drives right at Astros players all night. They also have had several near homeruns just go foul. it's like the 2005 post season again for the Stros

Christ, Hogan v Kamala did phenominal business

It was by no means a guarantee that WM 3 was going to be financial success. Same with WM 1. And, contrary to what you keep saying elsewhere, Dave does not hate Monsoon. He disliked his commentary style, but that was it. It was not, and never was, personal. Straight from Dave: I did jump to conclusions about Dave hating Monsoon at NMB but it just seems he NEVER lets an opportunity go by to say how bad he was. I mean he was talking about shows over 20 years ago and he still can't let it go. It just seems he goes out of his way to criticize him when Monsoon really isn't even the main subject.

Good call Dave on WM 3 not being financially successful. And nice to see Dave has always hated Gorilla Monsoon

This is the classic Yankee "Yeah we lost the first two games, but, PFFFT, you actually think you are sweeping us?" game. They play it all the time

This was covered on the Fire Joe Morgan Blogspot last year and it's coming up again this year. Oh and it's really fucking annoying. Every telecast, whether game or a recap show, announcers are bringing up Beltran's great year and then follow it up with the wishy washy "With those numbers he has to be considered an MVP candidate" WTF? Why can't they just come out and say "He's going to be an MVP candidate" or "He's had a great year and he will be in the running for the MVP" Jim Kaat was saying the same shit about Arod last year. It's like they're afraid to make a definitive statement.

Enjoy that 1 game winning streak M's!!!

I'm just wondering how the idiot writers are going to pick an NL Cy Young this year. I can just imagine them thinking "It's almost September and the highest win total is 13!!, I mean the pitching must suck right? Wins are the most important stat!!" It's laughable that Steve Trachsel is tied for most wins in the NL. Proves how useless the stat really is.

Wow, they had on the famous JYD/Piper/Steamboat v Race/Adonis/Savage elimination match from February 87. That was about as big a match they ever aired on TV back then (if you had MSG)

Milledge sported a high OBP in the minor leagues but that has not translated to the big leagues yet

Apparently the Mets are interested in trading for Moises Alou despite the acquisition of Shawn Green. According to Metsblog.com, Lastings Milledge has fallen so out of favor that he will probably not make the postseason roster. Plus Cliff Floyd might be hurt more than previously thought.

Holly beatdown on RVD!!!

uh oh, a "starting from the bottom" angle for RVD. These angles never work

According to Keller, Stacy Keibler will have a re-occuring role on the George Lopez Show this season. Does anyone still watch the George Lopez Show?

Can the Red Sox hold a lead for more than half an inning? Stay tuned to find out!!

Of course the ultimate irony with Joe is that when he played he walked a ton and had great stats and then he turns around and bashes the Moneyball philosophy. It's funny and pathetic at the same time
