it will be interesting to see the Quarter Hour rating for the match, will 2 women draw good ratings in the main event? Better than the men? I remember the Steph/Lita match doing pretty well

Shows you have a much different view of now

Summerslam 92. As a 13 year old mark, I despised the show after the initial viewing. I hated screwjob finishes and the finish in the world title match ruined the PPV for me. I also hated the Natural Disasters, LOD, and Nailz, and they all won convincingly in their matches. But since then, I realized that the main event is great and that the Warrior/Flair/Savage angle was pretty revolutionary stuff for the time -
wow, didn't realize Trish had the title for 6 months. She almost never defended it, mostly due to injury

Lita has been lucky to be programmed with 2 very good heels, Trish and Stephanie, in her 2 big feuds. Lita doesn't have the charisma to carry a program on her own. Trish and Stephanie carried their programs with her (Trish in the ring and on the mic, and Stephanie on the mic)

It was almost an exact carbon copy of the Stephanie angle in 2000 (which also main evented Raw), but it was an effective, simple story; babyface overcoming the odds, and it works almost every time.

Things that were supposed to happen but didn't

Hogan thought Bret was too small and thus wanted to job to a much bigger Yokozuna, which would make him look less weak in his eyes -
ESPN just did a close up of Suzy Kolber, and Good Christ is she hot

Manning has NOTHING surrounding him, it's a repeat of his father's career so far.

Top, I think that is Benoit, Edge, HHH, and Flair Bottom I can make out Big Show, Mysterio, Angle and JBL What about the others, I think RVD is there somewhere on the SD side

It's funny because AS pretty much reinvented himself at TSM. For the first 2 years, he was bitching and bitching about Angle, but the past year or so, that seemed to stop and he just started bitching about the Yankees only. I had a feeling he'd be gone the moment the Yankees lost game 7. There was no way he was making it through the entire off season

Does Moneyball outright say offense is more important than defense?

WWE News And Notes From 12/6 Observer

great stuff HTQ, reading that brought back memories of how much I loved SNME in the 80s. The first episode to the episode right before WM 3 is the peak of the Hogan Era and my favorite era ever in wrestling. -
It's official, the Heredia for Stanton deal is complete. Also, another official deal as Felix Rodriguez is a Yankee and Kenny Lofton is a Phil

Andre and Jim Duggan sold out MSG in 1988. That alone should show how popular Andre really was and that he could do good business without Hogan. Andre's 87-89 heel run gets crapped on a lot because he couldn't do anything in the ring anymore, but he was still a draw. It would have been interesting if Andre was in a headline position for most of his career, to see how he would have drawn. Instead, he was in the ambigious "side show" attraction role, thus making it difficult to say if he really sold out arenas or not.

I like how they tried to paint it that Jeff Marek wrote the questions when wrestlers were on, when it was obviously Meltzer feeding Marek. There is no bigger Meltzer mark in the world than Jeff Marek

Looks like Al Leiter is going to sign with the Marlins http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=1937015

The only matches with no build were the Midget match, Sheik/Volkoff v Bees Orton/Muracco v Santana/Zenk and Butch Reed/Koko B Ware. WM 5 and WM 6 are all basically filler except the main events And I also believe this is a time where George Scott was still booking for the WWF and he was a firm believer that the main event is all that matters and you fill in the undercard

Armando Benitez is about to sign with the Giants Edit: Curbed Enthusiasm beat me to it!!

"Also, does anyone else remember rumors that Chris Jericho was going to be named "Exacalibur" when he debuted in the WWF?" I had heard Jericho was going to debut with a rock star gimmick, and I believe that was going to be his in-ring name
