from insidepulse: Someone at NBC seems to have noticed that the all-star edition of "Last Comic Standing" wasn't doing so well in the ratings. The revelation in Burbank that the show was averaging only about 6 million viewers per week and delivering a meager lead-in to "Father of the Pride" and "Scrubs" led the network to drop the final episode of "Last Comic Standing," in which viewers would have found out which of the four remaining performers is, indeed, the last comic standing. Two "Father of the Pride" reruns will air in its place on Tuesday (Oct. 12). For More Click Here Credit: Zap2it

In the 1980s Vince McMahon was criticized by the smart wrestling community for not focusing enough on workrate. The main events were filled with very poor wrestlers like Studd, Bundy, Kamala, Andre, Zeus, Beefcake, One Man Gang, Warrior, Hogan, etc. Fans still packed arenas and responded to the matches, even though they were considered very poor quality wise. When do you think the transition was to the fans actually expected quality wrestling in WWF? Was it through the pushes of Bret and Shawn? or much later around 2000? When do you think WWF fans started to recognize talent in wrestlers and respond to them over the larger than life characters? As much as Shawn and Bret brought to the table, I think 2000 changed the ways of thinking of the fans.

Just watched this and I agree. It is basically a 15 minute squash for Benoit. Snow gets nothing in the match except a few impressive kicks, and that it. It's not a bad match or anything, but I've seen people give this match ****, and it isn't even close to that.

he is qualified for the win already

After Nomar sulked on the bench in what was the biggest game of the year up until that point, I never want to hear him compared to Jeter or A-Rod again. What about Tejada?
-
I don't think Jeter is looked down at, it's just that a lot of the public equate winning with being great, which is just not true. Jeff Bagwell is a better player than Jeter and has never won a playoff series. But yet, a lot of people look at Bagwell/Biggio as choke artists because they haven't hit well in post season. A player's statistics over a 162 game season mean more than 3 weeks in October.

Sometimes, it's not about the numbers. The leadership and enthusiasm that he displays can't be shown in a box score. He steps it up and makes everyone around him better. He's like a mushroom in Super Mario Brothers. You don't NEED it, but it sure as shit don't hurt. But Rex Hudler had a lot of emotion and was a leader, did that make him a great player? I'm not comparing the 2 in any way, but Jeter has had the opportunity to play on great teams and with other great players. Leadership is easy when you are surrounded by other all stars. Last year, Pudge Rodriquez was a "leader" and helped the Marlins win the World Series. This year he was a "leader" and "mentor" for the Tigers and they won 70 games. Did his leadership skills just disappear in a year? It's hard to measure these types of things.

I don't think Al or anyone is saying Jeter isn't a very good player, but he isn't an all time great if you look at his numbers. His OBP is not that good, and his range factor at shortstop is poor. He gets to show his "clutch abilities" because he is constantly put in that position. He would be lost on a Kansas City or Seattle team. He's a very good player, but he is nowhere close to being as good as A-Rod.

Don't know if the Twins will be able to recover from this. Could be easy sailing for the Yanks the next 2 games
-
What about Cairo?, he's the one who got the rally started
-
How did Jeter win this game? Seriously, he just took 4 pitches and scored on a sac fly

1-2-3 inning for Nathan, go to the 11th
-
I also think the save get in the heads of relievers. Many relievers, including Braden Looper, have admitted that they aren't in the game "mentally" if it is not a save situation. I watch the Mets the most out of any team and Looper pitches very poorly in non save situations (don't have the numbers, but I would venture they are not good). I'm sure this has been said by other closers

Easy inning for Rivera, 5-5 in the bottom of the 9th
-
Twins have very weak hitters coming up, the game should still be tied going to the bottom of the 9th.
-
Wouldn't the Union have a fit if the save rule was abolished?, relievers would probably make a lot less money, and it would affect arbitration
-
Game tied going to bottom of the 8th, Gardenhire was pissed in the dugout
-
That was a TERRIBLE AB for Kubel, Rivera can now get out of it with the game tied
-
RBI single for Morneau, 1st and 3rd with 1 out.
-
2 on for the Twins in the 8th, and in comes Rivera
-
5-3 Yankees, RBI single A-Rod, that should about do it for this game.

2 run homer by Beltran, 6-1 Astros
