Former WWF valet Marianna Komlos passes away

was she legit Chaz Warrington's girlfriend? Sad to hear, especially someone so young
  2. Let's see, Taker takes time off in Sept. 99 after walking out of the six pack challenge (in reality a groin pull) and misses 8 months. In 2002, he takes the chokeslam of the ramp and is gone for 3 months. In 2003, at Survivor Series, he is "buried alive" and misses 5 months. And now he is killed again by vehicular homicide, think he will be a "Suprise" entrant in the Royal Rumble again this year? I swear he must have it in his contract that he doesn't have to work from Sept. to December, which are coincidentally usually the slowest business points of the year for WWE.
  3. Taker going on his yearly Fall Sabbatical ?

    NFL Week 4

I see the Joe Gibbs love has dwindled. Skins lose to the Browns 17-13 and fall to 1-3.

    NFL Week 4

Giants win 14-7. 3 straight losses for the Pack. Giants are amazingly 3-1. Great day for Tiki Barber as the Giants rush for well over 200 yards.
  6. From Meltzer: At today's press conference in Milwaukee for Taboo Tuesday, they announced a few things for the 10/19 show: Fans will choose among four candidates, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Chris Benoit or Edge, as HHH's opponent. Very strange mentioning Edge at this point. They pushed Orton hard as he was the only one who spoke about wanting the shot. Stacy Keibler would be in a match where fans vote on what she will wear. On TV, they are pushing in the direction of Molly Holly. The three choices in Eric Bischoff vs. Eugene are loser wears a dress, hair vs hair or loser has to be a servant for the winner. Well, it's Bischoff's time to pay penance once again.

    SNL Review

Amy was awful in her debut on Update. But man, her and Tina both looked really, really hot. Like Bob said, I think they put them together to get the good press with them being 2 women hosting update The debate sketch was really good but dragged on Debbie Downer was really bad, and you could tell the audience was waiting for the cast to break , but it never came, and the laughs dwindled That had to be the longest cold opening in history, the first sketch of the night didn't get started until almost midnight. "Boner Juice" had Tina written all over it, and Amy was in it too, so you know Tina wrote it Loved the Veterans sketch, especially the line about Platoon The Bush video by Allison ?, well she is no Adam McKay or Robert Smigel for sure TOO LONG Rachel was funny in the escalator sketch, but that was about it WAY TOO LONG With Queen Latifah hosting next week, you can bank on a Jimmy cameo, Disappointing season opener as a whole, with LONG, LONG sketches bringing it down big time

    Bret Hart column

Any confirmation on why Austin left in 2002? Like Loss said, some reporters were saying that Austin wanted to feud with Vince and Undertaker. But then there were other rumors that he wanted to work with Guerrero and Benoit. Austin shouldn't have the book, because he would just want to rehash Austin/McMahon.

When did Workrate start to matter in WWF?

When I say workrate, I basically mean that the company was trying to put on good matches, they might not have been all been great, but the effort was there to put on good matches. In the 80s, the company did not care if the matches were good. Yes, I do agree that pure in-ring talent is not guarenteed to get someone over. It's only one part of the equation I just always hear smarks say "Things are different now" "Fans recognize talent now" "You have to have good matches on top" I just wanted to know why the fans all of a sudden could recognize good wrestling when before they supposedly couldn't.

    Good/Great matches between bad wrestlers

Bossman was on the decline in early 1991? Try around mid 1995. eh, Bossman's last couple of years in the WWF were not that pretty (in his 1st run), watch his match with Bigelow at Royal Rumble 93

    Good/Great matches between bad wrestlers

Hogan v Warrior WM 6 (although the quality has been debated over the years) Nash/Luger from a Raw in the summer of 94? (Think it is on one of the best Of Raw tapes) Edit: match was on the 7/18/94 edition of Raw Bossman/Barbarian from RR 91 (Bossman was obviously on the decline here and Barbarian was his usual self, but it turned into a pretty good match) Tatanka/Smoking Gunns v Bigelow/Headshriners from Summerslam 93

The Torch posts Best Ever Mania card...

I don't think I've heard people on the net say Jake was a great worker, just that he was a master of ring psychology. He wasn't a great athlete, but his matches seemed realistic because he could get in the head of the fans and make them believe he was trying to hurt Ricky Steamboat or whoever for real.

    *Impact Spoilers*

From the Torch: DARK MATCH (1) Poison beat Traci in the first women's match ever held in Orlando. Pretty good women's match that saw Poison get the win with a powerslam. IMPACT TAPING They showed a video recapping everything that happened last week and everything going on in the World Title picture. (1) Jeff Jarrett beat Bryan Gumble. Usual Jarrett squash with Jarrett working over Gumble on the outside and then rolling him in, hitting the Stroke, and covering him for the win. After the match Jarrett got on the mic and said that he isn't leaving until Vince Russo comes out and tells him who he is going to face at Victory Road. They then cut to a break and Jarrett took a seat on the announce desk and berated the crowd during the break. After we come back from break Russo comes out and said that Jarrett will have his answer tonight. Russo says that he looked at the outside sources that Jarrett talked about and he decided that the real talent is right here in TNA. Russo announces that there will be a tournament to decide the number one contender during the weeks leading up to Victory Road. Jarrett says that since Russo won't bring in outsiders, then he will have to bring them to Victory Road himself. A.J. Styles then came out and said that he wants to know when he will get a shot at the X-Division championship. Russo said that he won't recieve anymore special treatment, and that tonight he'll have to earn his shot at the title in a six-way X-Divison match. This brought Team Canada out who then demanded that they recieve a shot at the tag team titles. Russo said that they don't decide who deserves a shot which then led D'Amore to challenge Styles and Russo to a match. Styles then speared D'Amore. Team Canada got the upper hand until the 3 Live Kru made the save. They showed a promo package showing some of Raven's biggest moments in TNA. (2) Raven defeated Scott Stevens. Squash that saw Raven get the win with The Raven Effect. They then showed a Jeff Hardy video package putting over Hardy. It's scary how fast Hardy is losing favor with the crowd. (3) Abyss defeated Luther Jackson with the Black Hole Slam. Another squash. Not much more I can say other than the crowd is kind of indifferent to Abyss. Sad, because he has so much potenital and is a good worker. (4) The Naturals defeated the Tag Team Champions James Storm & Christopher Daniels. Solid match that saw the Naturals get the win with a rollup. "The Professor" Mike Tenay got into the ring to make a big announcement concerning Victory Road. The big announcement is that Victory Road will be live from Orlando and that it will be an all weekend event. Another big announcement is that "Rowdy" Roddy Piper will be on Impact next week with another major announcement. I must say that I'm liking how they are promoting Victory Road as a major event. The way they are promoting it makes it seem like a major occurence. (5) A.J. Styles beat Kazarian, Alex Shelly, The Amazing Red, Kid Kash, and Chris Sabin. Excellent match that saw Styles get the win with the Styles Clash. I couldn't stick around for the Xplosion tapings. My friend who came with me had to be at work early tomorrow and wanted to get home, so if anyone attended the complete tapings, send me to "matchresults" (@pwtorch.com). Biggest Pops: 1. 3 Live Kru 2. A.J. Styles 3. Any mention of Monty Brown. 4. Jeff Hardy Most Heat: 1. Jeff Jarrett ( mostly of the go away variety ) 2. Team Canada 3. Michal Shane - So Nash, Hall and Piper are now coming to TNA?

it's pathetic how they are trying new ways to get Torrie on TV, a ring announcer on Velocity!? WTF!? It's almost like they are afraid to keep her off TV in fear that everyone would stop watching if she wasn't on for at least a half a minute. Looks like they are going to program RVD with Jindrak At least they seem to have found a role for Dawn, looks like they will pair her with the Dudleys. As long as she doesn't wrestle, it's a good move. But it looks like they are going to have her work Miss Jackie UGH Been there done that with UT and the "Symbol" I love how a week before a PPV, the comedy heels become "serious", first with Angle and Show, and now JBL. WOW, he made Bob Holly bleed, now he has credibility!! Seems like weak hype for the PPV on Sunday

Apparently the Mets have hired Omar Minaya to be Head of Baseball Operations. It's a good move just for the fact it might get Jeff Wilpon out of the picture (temporarily at least) Edit: Apparently it's official, and Minaya will be above Duquette in the decision making process http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/baseball/apb...20Mets%20Minaya
