That'll work. Everyone's looking for a middle infielder to hit .216. Unfortunately, the Mets have "Super Joe" McEwing, so that option is gone. And I can't imagine anyone else being that stupid. Is Enrique friends with John Franco or Al Leiter? If he is, there is a spot for him on the Mets. Franco and Leiter keep getting McEwing contract extensions. I bet they wish their buddy Todd "Mr. 2000" Zeile could stick around and replace that punk kid David Wright at 3rd next year.

It was laughable to try and see the Mets "hit" the Cubs pitching tonight. Benson pitched great and Looper was unlucky, but the offense has NO CHANCE against the Cubs staff. It should make for some good comedy when Prior and Wood pitch the next 2 days

I would have been A LOT more into the Red Sox/Yankees Series if the Red Sox would have won last night.

    The Old School questions thread

What was the story where Missy Hyatt was supposed to be in the crowd at WM 10 with "President Clinton" ? Why didn't she do the show? Would that have led to her to have a long term role? Or just a one shot deal?

It took over a 150 games, but Armando Benitez finally gives up a big game winning homerun. Could see that coming a mile away as all Mets fans know. Seriously though, he's had a great year and could be a valuable free agent in the offseason

And the Red Sox lose 9-7 after David Ortiz's fly ball is caught right at the wall with 2 men on in the bottom of the 9th. If that ball goes out, it would have made the weekend a lot more interesting. That lose pretty much gives the division to the Yankees. A 4.5 game lead with 10 games to go. Hopefully the Red Sox play well this weekend to put some juice into the series. It looks like the West races in both Leagues are going to provide the most drama down the stretch.

and the Rangers come back and beat the A's in the bottom of the 9th, 5-4. Wow, Rangers are only 2 back of the A's.

I'm sure the Red Sox are appreciating the Devil Rays' "effort" against the Yankees today. There have been about 11 first pitch outs of the 21 outs recorded so far (game is in the bottom of the 7th) Sterling and Steiner on the radio have been laughing at Tampa the whole game.

Red Sox strand the bases loaded in the 9th. 6-6 going into the 10th.

1996 Bret/Austin Shawn/Sid The little match between Furnas/Laffon and Owen/Davey in the opener Mankind/Taker was solid Only slow spots were HHH/Crush/Lawler/Goldust v Mero/Rock/Windham/Jake Roberts and Yoko/Savio/Flash Funk/Snuka v Vader/Farooq/Fake Diesel/Fake Razor( which just had an awful finish, the worst finish in SS history, the "everyone counted out or DQ'd finish")

Rusch starts Friday against the Mets, against the immortal Aaron Heilman
  13. As a kid, I saw very little Memphis wrestling. From what I saw, I came to the conclusion that it was basically a violent version of the WWF that happened to be in the South. The matches were real short, often featured just punching, kicking and resting. There were tons of gimmicks, Colossus of Death comes to mind most vividly. There were also two fat guys dressed as bees who just punched and sold nothing, can't think of their names. There was a lot of talking, especially in the Kaufman angle. I remember Bundy getting a big push, also Kamala. The matches often ended in screwjobs and there were a ton of stipulations. It was a more violent version of the WWF in the 80s.

    Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame

I'm from Schenectady and The Hall of Fame is probably our biggest claim to fame, maybe only behind the giant GE Plant we have and for being the birthplace of Pat Riley. This past Spring/Summer they had a "Hall of Fame" card at Schenectady High School featuring Demolition Ax, George Steele, Doink, etc. I saw it advertised, but decided against going. I think the attitude around town is that the guys they induct aren't "big enough stars". No one is going to get excited about Demolition Ax, Doink, George Steele, Tom Brandi, Lou Albano, etc. They need bigger names to make it more credible.

    Mr. Show to TBS!

Just saw the promo on TBS, coming Oct. 1. They will have to edit a lot of the sketches, the blowjob lawyer , the taint sketch, etc. but it is good to see it back on the air. The way they promo was in looks like it will air late night on Fridays.

    WWF bookers

In the 80s, it was Vince, Pat Patterson, George Scott, Hogan, and I think Jim Barnett 90s, there was Vince, Patterson, Cornette, Russo, Bill Watts for a very brief period, Chris Kreski, Stephanie, Shane for a little bit, Gerwirtz, Heyman, Lagana, Hayes, Bruce Prichard, Tommy Dreamer for like a week, Ed Kosky (sp?), Dominic Pagliaro, and I guess HHH. In the 80s, I know George Scott was the one who booked the main event angles, because Vince learned from Scott that the main event is the only thing that matters, and you just fill in the undercard Patterson was the man who created all the gimmicks in the 80's and 90s and him and Vince came up with the campy skits they did in the 80s and early 90s. I think Brisco has always just been an agent. Any left?

    Tracey Gold Arrested

Former "Growing Pains" actress Tracey Gold was arrested after her sport utility vehicle flipped on Highway 118, injuring her husband and two of their children. An infant was unhurt. Tracey Gold Marshall, 35, of Valencia was booked for investigation of felony drunken driving after the Sept. 3 crash, California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Reid said Monday. The SUV, with Marshall at the wheel, veered off eastbound Highway 118 near Princeton Avenue just before midnight and it rolled over on its way down an embankment, Reid said. Marshall wasn't hurt, but her husband Robby Marshall, 39, suffered neck injuries, the officer said. Credit: MSN Entertainment/AP

Worse no sell of all time

Hogan/Undertaker from This Tuesday in Texas. Undertaker sells NOTHING for Hogan, He no sells an urn shot and pops right back up after getting rolled up up for the pin. Several times throughout the match Taker looks like he is not cooperating with Hogan, like refusing to take an atomic drop and just basically not letting Hogan have anything in the match. I know it was his gimmick but it was funny to watch in a Hogan match

    The Machine

I'm pretty sure that was when Jimmy Hart was booking Saturday Night. The idea was that Saturday Night was a mini organization in and of itself, separate from Nitro and Thunder. Hart wanted an old Memphis style feel, that is why there were pushes of monsters and a bunch of gimmicks (Barry Darsow as hole in one, Chuck Palumbo as a Tarzan ripoff, etc) It did not work as Saturday Night was turned into a recap show by the Spring, I believe at the request of Russo.
