Guys, I think Marney is dead.

well, marney has never been one for sentimentalizing anything. i think it's probably more true to her spirit to make off-color remarks than deliver heartfelt eulogies. i certainly don't give a shit about what people would say about me here if i died tomorrow, and i doubt she would either.

Guys, I think Marney is dead.

she's quite lucky that she got out of the game this early, never having to see the day when our next president will be sworn in on the qu'ran and force all women to wear the black veil as his first executive order. the despair of that coming day was probably just too much for her fragile constitution. for it will surely be too much for our nation's fragile constitution.

    Vitamins

    The Battle of The Songs

this is a serious question? clarkson in a cakewalk. it's not my favorite kelly song though. that would be "irvine."

    Slumdog Millionaire

caught this last night in a sold-out house, sitting next to a real live indian couple! i love how much of an old-fashioned storyteller danny boyle is, in a sly kind of way. this might actually be my favorite danny boyle movie. i'll have to watch 'trainspotting' again to verify that.

who is "we"? i've never seen her refer to herself like that.

    THE ELIMINATOR RETURNS

looks like i didn't miss a whole lot. and my wife is a pretty fantastic cook, especially of baked goods. she is short like the girl in the picture appears to be, but doesn't have a face like a sad horse.
  12. didn't he just get shot and survive, and have a lot of puppies at the end? what's everybody's favorite dog death in a movie? mine is 'magnolia'.

    Book recommendations

it's a kids' book. you could probably read the whole thing in an hour. the titular little girl finds a door in her house that opens up a surrealistic one-off version of her own house & neighborhood, where everyone has black buttons for eyes. coraline's "mother" in this world wants her to stay there so she can take care of her forever. excitement, fantasy characters, and life lessons ensue. hard to describe why exactly i liked it without giving things away, but it's able to get pretty dark & scary without losing its identity as a kids' book. the fantastical elements are very well-defined without dragging the plot down, coraline is a good strong central character, and every element feels it's in its right place. he does a lot with a very little amount of words, and it seems effortless in the way that most really good children's literature reads.

    THE ELIMINATOR RETURNS

one 'space invaders' arcade cabinet. endless hours of amusement, since the game has no ending.

    this was awesome.
  17. it would probably be funnier and more traumatizing if you just defaced them with "________ DIES." doesn't matter if it's true. little kids will cry and cry over ariel, belle, jasmine, etc. and never ever ever want to see the movies, even years later.

Hugh Jackman to host 2009 Oscars

it's a perfect storm of hollywood's desire to be socially conscious and their love of the biopic. it seems like there need to be some pretty strong reasons for 'milk' NOT to win it all at this point. it practically swept the new york film critics awards, which is almost unheard of for such a by-the-numbers, feel-good biopic type movie. this just looks like it's shaping up to be the year for 'milk' all around.

    2009 Golden Globes Nominations

^what he said. common knowledge. a couple years ago ebert said something to the effect of, "they're certainly not the oscars and just above the people's choice awards."

those look a lot more like daddy long-legs. which are a lot less scary.

Hugh Jackman to host 2009 Oscars

there's no way in hell 'milk' doesn't walk away with best picture. i'm calling it right now. it's the perfect way for the academy to feel good about themselves. i'd be very happy to see 'wall-E' nominated, and i think it's actually got a pretty good chance.

    Slumdog Millionaire

of course it's manipulative, it's a kids' movie.
