    10/22 Impact Spoilers

Man, that show sounds horrible. You know every time it's a draw the babyface team will when. Wow, Monty Brown vs Jobber. What was the point of having Truth and Hardy in the match when there not feuding with Team Canada? When you can't fill an arena that you can get in for free it's sad. Why does Jarrett only wants to wrestle for 1 minute? He's the laziest champion ever. Hell, even Hogan had more workrate than Jarrett. There's no way someone going to fly me all the way down to Florida just to wrestle a 2-5 minute match. If this PPV isn't successful (and by the looks of it Victory Road will not be) then I'm giving up on TNA all together which is sad because it's not like they don't have the talent to succeed (AJ, Sabin, Daniels, Abyss and Truth).

    I just realize something

They keep saying HHH never beat Benoit, but HHH actually beat Benoit at No Mercy 2000. Another time they did something like this is when Undertaker said HHH never beat to the build up of WrestleMania 2001, but HHH beat him on a Smackdown before they feuded.

    I just realize something

I agree 100%! As a black man I'm disappointed that the Rock doesn't show or recognize his African-American side. The closest WWE has tired is when the Coach said the Rock looks like him. Even the Rikishi-Austin angle had him portrayed as a Samoan.

    Impact! spoilers

COMPLETE TNA IMPACT! SPOILERS INCLUDING JEFF JARRETT'S CHALLENGER AT THE VICTORY ROAD PPV REVEALED by Mike Johnson @ 7:45:00 PM on 10/12/2004 Jonathon Sawicki called in the following spoiler results from TNA's Xplosion taping tonight at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida: Pre-Show: *Jeremy Borash and Shane Douglas welcomed the fans. Impact! *In the finals of the NWA championship contender tournament, Jeff Hardy pinned Monty Brown to earn the Victory Road PPV title match against Jeff Jarrett. Abyss was shown watching from the entrance. The referee was bumped, so he couldn't count a pinfall after Hardy hit the Twist of Fate. Abyss hit the ring and hit the Black Hole Slam on Hardy. Brown hit Abyss with the Pounce. Raven hit the ring from the crowd and drilled Brown with a steel chair, setting up the pinfall. *Backstage, Dusty Rhodes and Vince Russo were arguing. They aired a video package announcing Shark Boy, Chad Collyer, Amazing Red, and Sonjay Dutt would be in the X-Division Gauntlet Match at the Victory Road PPV. *TNA X-Division champion Petey Williams pinned Jason ? Williams came down dressed like AJ Styles. Styles came to the ring they brawled after the match. *3 Live Kru defeated Eric Stevens and "two NWA Wildside workers" *The Six Points of Impact! with Jeff Hammond was about Victory Road. *Raven was scheduled to face Brian Gamble. As Gamble made his way to the ring, Raven came out of nowhere and rocked him with a steel chair. Raven came to the ring and said that he deserved the title shot and could have defeated Monty Brown. Brown came to the ring and they brawled. Out came Abyss, which turned it into a Three-Way fight. Everyone broke the brawl up. At one point, Abyss hit the Black Hole Slam on Brown, who landed on the ring mic and broke it. *They aired a video package on Roddy Piper's "In the Pit with Piper" segment at the PPV. *Bobby Rude and Eric Young defeated James Storm and Christopher Daniels to win the NWA Tag Team championships. *As Impact! went off the air, Jeff Hardy challenged Jeff Jarrett to make their NWA championship match at the PPV a ladder match. Credit=PWInsider Looks like there setting up Raven v. Monty v. Abyss which will keep Raven and Abyss in the title picture. Good thing AJ and Petey finally made contact. I'm also glad they gave the belts to Team Canada which would put AMW and XXX back together. It sounds like the best Impact yet.
  7. There was something that happened tonight during the tapings related to one of the fans in the 'Pit'. One of the regular attendees of tapings, Casey, who has been seen jawing with the wrestlers at times was kicked out of the 'Impact Zone' prior to the Xplosion main event. During the entire tapings, Casey was yelling at Jeremy Borash, telling him that Tim Welch was better. In the time lag before the final match, Casey was jawing with Borash and was joking around with Borash. Apparently, Borash had problems being jawed at by a fan, and Casey was removed from the Soundstage by one of the Harris Brothers. Casey might do some things that could get under the skin of some of the people at the shows, but he does not use any obscenities. He usually taunts the referees before the matches, and does nothing beyond what any other wrestling fan does. Prior to this week, the only things directed at Borash were comments about him resembling Ryan Seacrest or Carson Daly, but nothing more. Borash made sure to tell the fans in the crowd who to cheer for, and wanted everyone to boo Team Canada during their matches and chant 'U.S.A' when they are there. Casey was told that there were a number of complaints about his behavior, but he does nothing that most of the fans in the Pit say. (If you hear a 'Bring Back Casey' chant, that was when we found out he was kicked out. There are others who use obscenities (and someone else was told to stop using profanities during the main event, despite obvious obscenities when Jeff Hardy beat Monty Brown). The fans in Orlando, especially the ones in the Pit are not wrestling sheep, and they will continue to cheer for wrestlers like Team Canada, Abyss, Monty Brown, and other heels while not cheering for people like Jeff Hardy. Impact! spoilers

more detailed report including announcing the names of Hall and Nash: TNA Impact tapings October 12, 2004 Orlando, Fla. at Universal Studios Report by Danney Robertson, PWTorch.com correspondent IMPACT TAPINGS (1) Jeff Hardy beat Monty Brown to become the number one contender for the TNA Heavyweight Championship. Decent match that saw Monty dominate most of the match. Hardy started to come back but Abyss came out and gave Hardy a black hole slam. Soon after Raven came out and took Monty out with a chairshot. This allowed Hardy to hit one more twist of fate and get the pin. Monty needs to develop some more offense besides punching, headlocks, and the Pounce because that's all he used in this match. Even having said that, it disappoints me to see Hardy versus Jarrett again. Promo aired from the back with Vince Russo and Dusty Rhodes. They said that they would let the fans vote to decide who gets to run the company. Not a bad way for Russo to make his exit from TNA but it just feels like they're trying to go for the interactive element like Taboo Tuesday will have. (2) Petey Williams beat a local guy. The local guy got in a lot of offense until Petey Williams hit the Styles Clash. After the match Petey put on Style jacket and mocked Styles. Styles ran out and took out Petey. Styles then dove over the ropes and took out Petey and D’Amore. Rather pointless match as Petey was more or less the one being squashed until he hit the Styles Clash. Promo aired for the coming of the New York Connection. (3) The 3 Live Kru beat three of the worst looking professional wrestlers that I have ever seen. Basic squash match that saw the 3 Live Kru get the win after one of their triple team maneuvers. Before the match they said that no matter who wins the tag team titles they are next in line. They announced that the Outsiders would be Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Then is some baffling news it was announced that Hall would be aligned with Jarrett and Nash would be against him. What? Unless that changes that makes no sense to me at all. Raven then came out and took out the guy he was supposed to face in the next match. He then cut a promo saying that he will be the next Heavyweight champion. Monty then came out and they started fighting. This brought Abyss to the ring. They brawled and each guy hit his finisher. Looks like they're setting up a triple threat for Victory Road. (4) Team Canada beat James Storm & Christopher Daniels to become the new NWA Tag Team Champions. Team Canada got the win with a rollup. Really good main event although I don't understand why the titles keep changing hands. It really doesn't make any sense. Due to a prior commitment I was not able to stay for the Xplosion tapings. If someone who stayed for the tapings could send in a report it would be much appreciated. Biggest Pops: 1. The 3 Live Kru 2. A.J. Styles 3. Jeff Hardy Most Heat 1. Team Canada 2. The three guys who were in the match with the 3 Live Kru Notes: This was possibly the hottest crowd that I have ever seen at the tapings. I hope it comes across good on TV. It saddens me to see them going back to the squash format. They seemed to be moving away from that, but they proved me wrong. Another confusing element was their announcement of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash being on different sides. Unless that's just a ruse, I really can't understand that booking logic. Overall a decent show tonight Credit=PWTorch

    Impact! spoilers

Impact! *In a tournament match to determine the NWA championship challenger at Victory Road, Jeff Hardy rolled up Abyss for the pin as he went for a chokeslam. Hardy advances. *Backstage, Shane Douglas interviewed Team Canada as they demanded an answer about their NWA Tag Team championship shot. *Christopher Daniels came down for a match, and was attacked by Team Canada, which led to America's Most Wanted, Primetime, BG Jammes, and Ron Killings all getting involved in a big brawl. *AJ Styles pinned Roderick Strong with a backflip off the turnbuckles into a DDT. *Roddy Piper returned to TNA, saying that he "made wrestling" and announcing that he would be at the Victory Road PPV on 11/7. *NWA champion Jeff Jarrett was interviewed backstage about the Raven vs. Monty Brown match on Impact!, warning both to remember that "TNA is my world." *Monty Brown pinned Raven in the second match of the NWA championship shot tournament. There were ECW chants during the match, which went into the crowd. It will be Brown vs. Hardy for the Victory Road championship match on the Impact! that airs on Friday 10/15. Credit=PWInsider Only 3 matches this week so I hope this means the wrestlers got more time.

    Joe Legend rips Jarrett/TNA

I'm sure people have read this already, but since it hasn't been posted here I figured I'll do it: How did the people at NWA-TNA treat you during your stay? TNA was a disaster and a prime example of having my good nature taken advantage of. Jeff Jarrett promised me many things in order to entice me to come back to Canada and work in Nashville for him and that lying scumbag broke his word on every one. Money, gimmick, push, bookings,, absolutely everything was a complete lie and I consider him the lowest form of life in the world. I was just in Switzerland on a show that I had gotten Jeff booked for last year (before he showed his true colours) and I had every intention of kicking 5 shades of crap out of him in the locker room. I had no intention of hiding my feelings and told several of the others to just please stay out of it while we had it out. Jeff ended up cancelling out at the last minute due to his wife and her problems with cancer. Normally I would have said that the dirty snake just wanted to no show the event and keep the deposit that was sent months ago, and I'm the last one to sympathise with Jeff for any misery he may endure. But even I can understand him staying with his wife at such a difficult time for her. Truthfully, I wish her no ill will and pray for a speedy recovery for her. Marrying Jeff is more than enough of a pain in her life and she deserves no more. The real tragedy is that the cancer got to her and not Jeff... or that coward piece of garbage Dutch Mantell. You said in a interview you did with TNA that your best match was with Chi Chi Cruz back in 1999. Why do you think he hasn't got his shot at TNA? The only reason I can see that Cheech hasn't started with TNA is that he was blessed with enough sense not to get taken in by a second rate, backyard promotion that masquerades itself as professional. They have all of the great talent in the world, and they bury it to build up Jeff. A no talent hack who has gotten by solely due to his fathers connections. Name Association Kingman: a good friend with about the best mind for a big man this business has. Mike Hughes: Haven't talked to him in a few years, but we have always got along. Kurrgan: one of the best people I've ever met. A true gentle giant and a wonderful human being. Gary Williams: A funny guy with a lot of talent. A good man who always give 100%. Chi Chi Cruz: the best worker I've ever met who never had a contract somewhere. Jeff Jarrett: I believe we've covered this. I wish nothing but bad things for him. Bobby Rude: a real talent who only needs someone to bring out the real personality in him to make him a star. Vance Nevada: I don't know him well, but always came across as a decent guy and gentleman. Gangrel: a great guy who deserves all the success he gets. Congradulations on the contract! Eddie Watts: so much talent, so intense and so misused simply because he's not 6'2". Don Callis: the most misunderstood guy in the industry. The best promo in the business and a man I'm proud to be able to call my friend. Rene DuPree: his great physique always mis-represented his youth. A hard worker and always got along well with me. A great future if he can keep his head on straight. Well, I hope this was helpful. Please support your local indy, and while you're at it... boycott TNA! Anyways, take care. All the best and God Bless. Credit= PWInsider Well, is he telling the truth or is he just bitter about the way he was treated?

More detailed report: TNA Impact tapings October 5, 2004 Orlando, Fla. at Universal Studios Report by Danney Robertson, PWTorch.com correspondent TNA produced a stellar episode of Impact tonight. This week's Impact is truly the best they have ever produced and I hope they stay on this track. Anyway, on to the results. Jimmy Hart made his return to the Impact Zone this week and gave his usual speech. He then introduced Jeremy Borash which was almost immediately followed by the opening to Impact. IMPACT TAPINGS (1) Jeff Hardy beat Abyss with a roll up. Okay match that saw Abyss dominate throughout most of the match. Hardy got the win when he rolled Abyss up during a chokeslam attempt. They gave this match plenty of time and I can't complain about that. Tonight saw Hardy give his worst performance since he joined TNA. He was just awful and the crowd let him know how they felt. I think he has lost almost all of the people that supported him when he first came in. There are very few that actually still cheer him. There was even an audible "We want Matt" chant. Promo aired promoting the coming of the New York Connection. Christopher Daniels and James Storm came out but were interrupted by Scott D’Amore. The tag team champions were then attacked from behind by Team Canada. They brawled at ringside and then into the ring. Chris Harris and Primetime tried to make the save but were overpowered by Team Canada. This brought out the 3 Live Kru which sent Team Canada out of the ring and up the ramp. There was a funny moment during the break when one of the Hawaiian Tropics models was going to throw out a T-Shirt. She was walking to a different section and some kid reached over and just flat out took it and ran away. (2) A.J. Styles beat Roderick Strong. Really good back and forth match that saw Strong hit some unique looking offensive maneuvers. Styles got the win with his flipover inverted DDT. One thing I don't understand is why the crowd is more or less indifferent to Styles. He can usually earn their cheers by the end of his matches but he hardly gets any response at all when he comes out. Promo aired promoting Petey Williams versus A.J. Styles at Victory Road. They were dubbing it the Canadian Destroyer versus the Styles Clash. Roddy Piper came out and the roof blew off the arena. This was the loudest I’ve ever heard the fans at the tapings. Piper then proceeded to cut one heck of a promo. He talked about all the things he’s done in his career and said that at Victory Road he will have a very special guest in Piper's Pit. Awesome promo. Very emotional and heartfelt. The crowd absolutely loved Piper. Promo in the back with Jeff Jarrett discussing the Outsiders coming to Victory Road. (3) Monty Brown beat Raven with the Pounce. Solid match with some good psychology by Raven. I won't say that is wasn't slow in spots ( it even got the first boring chant I’ve ever heard at the tapings ) but it was a solid brawl. After the match the two number one contenders and Jarrett stared each other down. There was also another match announced for Victory Road. A 20 man international X-Division gauntlet match. They then changed the set around. They had the contract signing for the Russ Rollins & Dusty Rhodes versus Jarrett and Johnny B Badd match at Miss Monster here in Orlando. It turned into a brawl and saw Russ Rollins get powerbombed through a table. XPLOSION TAPINGS (1) 3 Live Kru beat three local guys. First squash of the night that saw the 3 Live Kru get the win with their triple team maneuver. Short match that livened the crowd back up. Their gimmick may be outdated but it can still bring the crowd up a little. They show a video recapping the problems between Dusty Rhodes and Vince Russo. Promo in the ring with Mike Tenay and Larry Zbyszko. They talked about Dusty which of course brought him out. Kid Kash then came out and ran down Dusty. Dusty then attacked Kash. Dallas made the save and they beat up on Dusty until the Truth made the save for Dusty. Fun little segment. (2) Kazarian & Michael Shane beat Jarell Clark & Mikey Batts. Good back and forth match that saw Shane and Kazarian get the win with a superkick legsweep combo. Crowd could really have cared less for Clark and Batts. They then showed a promo for Sonjay Dutt. Somebody has been busy with all these taped promos that they aired this week. (3) Chris Sabin & The Amazing Red & Sonny Siaki beat Alex Shelly & two local guys. Really good fast paced match. Sabin got the win for his team with his finisher. Promo in the back where Team Canada introduced their newest member. Didn't catch his name but he was trained in Stu Hart's dungeon. (4) Team Canada beat Triple X and America's Most wanted. Someone called and told me the results of this match. They said that Team Canada got the win and that it was a pretty good match. That's it for tonight. Biggest Pops: 1. Roddy Piper 2. 3 Live Kru 3. After that everyone was about even. I think the t-shirt throwing would have come in third. Most Heat: 1. Team Canada 2. Kid Kash 3. Jeff Hardy Notes: Really good episode of Impact tonight. This is how Impact should have been all along. Matches that told a story, solid promotion of Victory Road, and an amazing promo by Piper made for an awesome show. Piper really seemed to enjoy being there and his promo seemed heartfelt. Good show tonight, it's definitely worth catching. Credit=PWTorch

TNA Impact tapings September 28, 2004 Orlando, Fla. at Universal Studios Report by Danney Robertson, PWTorch.com correspondent DARK MATCH (1) Poison beat Traci in the first women's match ever held in Orlando. Pretty good women's match that saw Poison get the win with a powerslam. IMPACT TAPING They showed a video recapping everything that happened last week and everything going on in the World Title picture. (1) Jeff Jarrett beat Bryan Gumble. Usual Jarrett squash with Jarrett working over Gumble on the outside and then rolling him in, hitting the Stroke, and covering him for the win. After the match Jarrett got on the mic and said that he isn't leaving until Vince Russo comes out and tells him who he is going to face at Victory Road. They then cut to a break and Jarrett took a seat on the announce desk and berated the crowd during the break. After we come back from break Russo comes out and said that Jarrett will have his answer tonight. Russo says that he looked at the outside sources that Jarrett talked about and he decided that the real talent is right here in TNA. Russo announces that there will be a tournament to decide the number one contender during the weeks leading up to Victory Road. Jarrett says that since Russo won't bring in outsiders, then he will have to bring them to Victory Road himself. A.J. Styles (photo by Wade Keller, PWTorch) A.J. Styles then came out and said that he wants to know when he will get a shot at the X-Division championship. Russo said that he won't recieve anymore special treatment, and that tonight he'll have to earn his shot at the title in a six-way X-Divison match. This brought Team Canada out who then demanded that they recieve a shot at the tag team titles. Russo said that they don't decide who deserves a shot which then led D'Amore to challenge Styles and Russo to a match. Styles then speared D'Amore. Team Canada got the upper hand until the 3 Live Kru made the save. They showed a promo package showing some of Raven's biggest moments in TNA. (2) Raven defeated Scott Stevens. Squash that saw Raven get the win with The Raven Effect. They then showed a Jeff Hardy video package putting over Hardy. It's scary how fast Hardy is losing favor with the crowd. (3) Abyss defeated Luther Jackson with the Black Hole Slam. Another squash. Not much more I can say other than the crowd is kind of indifferent to Abyss. Sad, because he has so much potenital and is a good worker. (4) The Naturals defeated the Tag Team Champions James Storm & Christopher Daniels. Solid match that saw the Naturals get the win with a rollup. "The Professor" Mike Tenay got into the ring to make a big announcement concerning Victory Road. The big announcement is that Victory Road will be live from Orlando and that it will be an all weekend event. Another big announcement is that "Rowdy" Roddy Piper will be on Impact next week with another major announcement. I must say that I'm liking how they are promoting Victory Road as a major event. The way they are promoting it makes it seem like a major occurence. (5) A.J. Styles beat Kazarian, Alex Shelly, The Amazing Red, Kid Kash, and Chris Sabin. Excellent match that saw Styles get the win with the Styles Clash. I couldn't stick around for the Xplosion tapings. My friend who came with me had to be at work early tomorrow and wanted to get home, so if anyone attended the complete tapings, send me to "matchresults" (@pwtorch.com). Biggest Pops: 1. 3 Live Kru 2. A.J. Styles 3. Any mention of Monty Brown. 4. Jeff Hardy Most Heat: 1. Jeff Jarrett ( mostly of the go away variety ) 2. Team Canada 3. Michal Shane Notes: The building was completely full tonight. There were a lot of people that were there to see a local radio DJ from the Monsters of the Mid-day show wrestle in a match that was scheduled for Xplosion. There was also an entire section filled up with 12 year old girls. I never heard why they were there but they were the loudest section there. Tonight's show showed some great signs of improvement. They made an effort to show off some of the major superstars via some very nicely put together video packages. Okay, so they still had quite a few squash matches but for some reason they didn't bother me that much tonight because the show was entertaining. I like the way they are hyping Victory Road. I think that if everything goes right this will become TNA's version of Wrestlemania. They are making it seem like a huge event. I'm interested to see what Piper's big announcement is next week. Well, that's it for tonight. Credit=PWTorch This show sounds very good if you ignore the squash matches. They are finally making progress in promoting the "Victory Road" PPV. I wonder what Piper will say. Where in Orlando are they having the PPV?

    Heat results

HEAT TAPINGS (1) Muhammed Hussan won a squash over some out of shape fat local jobber guy. I must say that Hussan has a very impressive look. When he debuts I don't put it past Vince to turn him into the next Sargeant Slaughter during the early '90s. Hussan wins with the camel clutch. (2) Chris Benoit pinned Rodney Mack. This is the exact reason WWE is not worth watching right now. Not too long ago Benoit was in the midst of a seven month long heavyweight title reign. Now he is the curtain jerker who tries to make the Mack Attack look good. I'm sick of seeing Benoit vs. Flair, but after watching that match I am praying for a Benoit-Flair series to take me through the rest of the year. Oh yeah, Benoit wins. (3) Maven pinned Rob Conway. Maven comes away with the victory with a roll up. On a personal level I would like to see Maven become a member of Evolution. The guy has a great look and could use the same rub Batista and Orton got. (4) Chuck Palumbo pinned Steven Richards. Again, why can't we see a Big Stevie Cool or something. He could even become a Shawn Michaels stalker since they look so much alike and used to even use the same finisher with Sweet Chin Music and the Stevie kick. At least make him comical. And Palumbo just seems to be trying to look like Brutus of Popeye. Palumbo wins with a Samoan drop variation. CREDIT=PWTorch Man, I feel sorry for Benoit. According to this report he's not even in the main event.

    Impact! spoilers

Here's a more detailed show form WrestlingObserver: Match One was not taped for TV: Poison (One Dirty Bitch, a Nashville/Indiana wrestler) defeated Traci Brooks (w/Michael Shane). This is the first ladies match TNA has done in Orlando and they picked two good lady workers for it. The crowd was hot for this match that saw Shane interfere to help out Brooks several times but it backfired the last time as Poison hit a Davey Boy powerslam for the win. Impact matches began here with a recap of last week’s show followed by a preview of today’s matches. Match Two: NWA World Heavyweight champion Jeff Jarrett defeated Brian “the Blade” Gamble. Like his other matches on Impact, Jarrett dominated his opponent hitting the stroke for the victory. Jarrett took the mic, sat in a chair he placed on the broadcast table and demanded to know who his Victory Road opponent would be. During the commercial he taunted “the Monster Mafia fanbase.” Once we came back from the TV break Vince Russo came to address Jarrett in the ring claiming he spoke to “the outsiders” and said the real talent is here in TNA. Next week Raven, Abyss, Monty Brown and Jeff Hardy would be in a tournament and the winner will face Jarrett at Victory Road. Jarrett claimed he would get “outsiders” in TNA one way or another. After Jarrett left, AJ Styles came to the ring to confront Russo about wanting a shot at X champion Petey Williams. Russo said AJ would be part of a six way match and the winner would face Williams at Victory Road. Team Canada (minus Johnny Devine get well soon my friend) came out to demand a World Tag Team title match having beaten the former champs Skipper and Harris but they jumped Styles and Russo instead. 3 Live Kru made the save for AJ. A teaser video of Raven played as the show came back to air. Match Three: Raven defeated Scotty Hotshot (didn’t hear the name TNA gave him but he is local Florida worker.) Raven had Die Monty Brown on his chest. It was over before it started as Raven hit his version of the DDT to win. Shane Douglas stood by a door that the TNA championship committee was meeting behind. Larry Zbyszko talked about Dusty Rhodes and then walked away. A Jeff Hardy vignette played before return for the next match. Match Four: Abyss defeated Luther “Bodybag” Jackson. Jackson got in some offense but he fell to the Black Hole Slam. Shane Douglas spoke to Harley Race about the situation between Vince Russo and Dusty Rhodes. Terry Funk was not in the building. Match Five: Non title match, former NWA World Tag Team champions the Naturals (Andy Douglas & Chase Stevens) defeated NWA World Tag Team champions James Storm & “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels Douglas wrestled despite having been stabbed in the thigh over the weekend in Nashville. Miscommunication between Daniels and Storm cost them the match. Daniels went for the BME but Storm had already picked up Stevens for a fireman’s carry. Daniels hit the mat hard as he missed the BME. From the floor, Douglas tripped up Storm which allowed Stevens to cover Daniels. Afterwa! rds Skipper and Harris joined their partners in the ring to argue. Shane Douglas spoke to Dusty Rhodes who said there was a failure in communication between Russo and the championship committee. Mike Tenay got in the ring for a big announcement concerning Victory Road. The announcement was it would be a Victory Road weekend with Q & A, autograph sessions and the show would be held in (big shock) Orlando. Next week “Rowdy” Roddy Piper will be at Impact with an announcement concerning Victory Road. Match Six: To determine Petey Williams’s opponent at Victory Road. AJ Styles defeated Alex Shelley, Kid Kash, Amazing Red, Frankie Kazarian and Chris Sabin. This would have been a promoter’s dream match in any other promotion. The crowd was hot from the bell to the pinfall. AJ took a beating for most of the match but tagged in Red who was also beat up by the heels. Red finally tagged out to everyone else who tried to get the pin on each other. In the end as the others fought on the floor Styles hit Shelley with the Styles Clash to move onto Victory Road. In next week’s NWA World Heavyweight title mini-tournament Raven vs. Monty Brown and Abyss vs. Jeff Hardy. The TNA road crew setup the building to film TNA Xplosion which is seen on Sunshine Network. Not sure if this match was taped or not. Match Seven: Real Radio’s Russ Rollins & Johnny B. Badd (yes THAT Johnny B. Badd) defeated Rod Steel and Bruce Steele. Mero, sorry Badd had short hair, no moustache and about 30 pounds of muscle since he left WWE and his ex-wife. The Rollins guy got pops no matter what he did in the ring and looked better in the ring then most radio DJ’s that preceded him in the ring. Rollins pinned Bruce Steele after hitting a 2nd rope Tornado DDT. Jeff Jarrett came to the ring to confront Rollins. Jarrett challenged Rollins to a fight right now!!! “The monster Mafia” popped big time for this and had Rollins’ back. Mero, sorry Badd grabbed the guitar and threatened Jarrett but hit Rollins instead. Jarrett and Badd left the ring together as Dusty Rhodes came out to aide Rollins. Most of! “the Monster Mafia” exited the building after the match. Jeremy Borash passed the mic off to Tim Welch who did the ring duties for Xplosion. There was over a 20 minute delay due to technical duties. The crowd got on Welch but he was not to blame. The exact same vignette that opened Impact was played to open Xplosion. Match Eight: Team Canada (Petey Williams & Bobby Roode w/ Scott D’Amore) defeated Shark Boy & D-Ray 3000. It was a good match but Shark Boy fell to the Canadian Destroyer. The same Jeff Hardy sung vignette from Impact played. Match Nine: Mikey Batts & “Mr. 630”Jerrelle Clark defeated David Young & Lex Lovett vs. Batts and Clark are currently the NWA FL tag Team champions and showed their chemistry to the appreciative crowd. Clark hit the 630 splash on Lovett for the win. Mike Tenay took to the ring with special guest Dusty Rhodes to address his issues with Vince Russo and the NWA championship committee. Repeat of the Raven vignette from Impact. Match Ten: “Alpha Male” Monty Brown defeated Ryan O’Reilly with the Pounce. Don Harris stood over my shoulder during this match making sure I said good things about TNA Wrestling. Also best wishes to Jerry Lynn who is recovering from shoulder surgery. Match Eleven: 3 Live Kru defeated Erick Stevens, Kid Romeo and Masao Inoue. This was Stevens’ debut in TNA and 3LK made sure he remembered it. Romeo was pinned by BG James after a triple team maneuver. After the match BG took the mic proclaiming 3LK is here to stay and they want gold around their waists. Match Twelve: Sonny Siaki defeated Roderick Strong. During the bout Siaki’s trunks ripped and his behind was exposed to the excited ladies of Orlando. Siaki won the match with a tombstone piledriver. Match Thirteen: “Wildcat” Chris Harris defeated Michael Shane (w/Traci Brooks). Good match to end the show. Harris hit the catatonic to get the win but Frankie Kazarian ran in to beat down Harris after the bell which prompted James Storm to come to the ring. After the cameras stopped rolling AMW fought all over the building with Kazarian and Shane.

After the cameras stopped rolling AMW fought all over the building with Kazarian and Shane

3 of the 5 matches are squashes. Over HALF of the show is based around squash matches and hype video's. This sounds like a "good show" to you? Yes, it does. AJ gets mic work demanding a title shot, Russo makes him earn it in a no. 1 contenders match, Russo sets up a Tournament for the NWA title which will make up want to watch next week, Team Canada demanding a tag team title shot, the announce the location for the PPV, Storm and Daniels which means they had problems during the match, and finally the main event had five of the six wrestlers that I enjoy watching wrestle. Now that they made a tourney there probably be anymore squash matches plus having the heavyweight contenders (Abyss and Raven) squash guys isn't a bad thing. And they did all this in an hour show. I know you and some other people will bash TNA no matter what they do from know on, but I don't understand how anyone can say that this show isn't a step forward.

TNA doesn't have weeks to waste

After they canceled last week it should've been a wake up call for TNA to get the ball rolling and stop with the squash matches and start having longer matches, making characters, and create storylines to hype the "Victory Road" PPV in case they have to cancel again, but instead of giving the wrestlers who wrestle a storyline they waste it by giving it to Dusty. Now that another Hurricane is coming to Florida they might have to cancel again.

    Impact! spoilers

TNA Impact tapings September 21, 2004 Orlando, Fla. at Universal Studios Report by Danney Robertson, PWTorch.com correspondent Tonight's show was pretty good. Some fun and entertaining matches. But having said that, this was not the way to go seeing as they no longer have a weekly PPV. They did nothing out of the ordinary other than the Jarrett-Monty Brown promo. DARK MATCH (1) The Naturals beat The Steele Brother. Pretty good opening match that saw the Naturals get the win with The Natural Disaster. Crowd was not into the match at all. IMPACT TAPINGS Show started with Larry Zbyszko coming out being followed by the TNA Tag Team Champions Chris Harris and Primetime who were in turn followed by their tag team partners. They wanted to know what Zbyszko was going to do about their current situation. He said that later there would be a tag team championship match between the current champions and their old partners. (1) Petey Williams beat Jerell Clark. Very good opening match that saw Petey Williams get the win with the Canadian Destroyer. This was a solid back and forth match. Jerell got in quite a bit of offense before some interference by Team Canada allowed Petey to hit the Canadian Destroyer. Good match. (2) Konnan & Ron Killings beat two local guys. After the first match I had some hope that they were moving away from the squash matches now that they don't have a weekly PPV, but i was wrong. Basic squash that saw the Truth get the win with what looked like a pedigree. I was a little distracted because everyone had turned their attention the one of the local guys who, after being knocked down, got back up and threw himself out of the ring like he was supposed to begin with. Jeff Jarrett came out and cut a promo saying that he won't wait to learn who he is going to face at Victory Road and that he want's to know tonight. Monty Brown came out and interrupted and said that Jarrett doesn't have to wonder who it is since it's going to be none other than the Alpha Male. Jarrett slapped Monty and then the two brawled before security broke it up. Larry Zbyszko came out and said that next week he would bring Terry Funk in to try and help control Dusty. (3) Abyss beat Frankie Capone. Squash that lasted less than a minute. The end came when Abyss hit the Black Hole Slam. I like Abyss and i think there is so much more that could be done with him than having him squash someone every week. (4) James Storm & Christopher Daniels defeated Chris Harris & Primetime to become the new TNA Tag Team Champions. This was a very good match but i don't really understand the point in switching the titles again so soon. I'll reserve judgement until i see where they are going with this whole situation. XPLOSION TAPINGS At this point they absolutely killed the crowd who had been pretty hot so far. They took about 30 minutes to set up for this. They had to switch the ring aprons and all the signs that said Impact. I'm the first to say that their new opening video is awesome but they played it three times during all this. (1) Alex Shelley & Michael Shane & Kazarian defeated The Amazing Red & Chris Sabin & Mikey Batts. Good match that saw the end come when Shane hit the superkick. Monty Brown came out to cut a promo saying that he is the number one contender for the heavyweight championship. This brought out Raven who disagreed and said that he is the number one contender. They started fighting and Brown hit the Pounce. This brought out Abyss who hit Brown with the Blackhole Slam. Jeff Hardy then came out and tried to take out Abyss but couldn't knock him down. Really good segment that should have been on Impact. At this point I had to leave because my friend who went with me had to be somewhere. But the last match of the night was scheduled to be A.J. Styles versus an unannounced opponent. Thoughts: The crowd was better than it was for the last tapings but it still only filled up one half of the arena. A good show tonight but it showed no signs of changing from being the squashfest that it had become. Since there is no PPV anymore they really should focus on developing the wrestlers personalities instead of focusing on squashes that do nothing to tell the audience anything about that particular wrestler. I will say that it's fun to go sit and watch. I just think that they need to make some changes. Credit= PWTorch

    Impact! spoilers

I don't know what he's smoking, but I've just about given up on this damn company. Not everybody (including me) doesn't get Xplosion so why have the main stars up there? If TNA doesn't pick up next week with Impact! then I;m leaving the wrestling world (which is sad because I've been a fan since '87). As Danny Glover would say "I'm getting too old for this shit."

    Joey Styles article about TNA

How come everyone is saying the same thing for TNA to do, but they still won't listen? They do need a younger guy to help since neither guy knows what the 18-34 demographic wants. As much as you guys would love to see AJ with the world title he's right. The champion should never be shorter than his manager (see: Russo and Styles). AJ and Kash having the title would make TNA look weak now that there on TV. Both guys are too skinny and bulked up enough (see: Eddie and Benoit who are both short, but are JACKED enough to look like heavyweights) to be champ. Hell. Sabin looks more of a heavyweight than AJ does. That's why Siaki, Truth, Lynn, Monty, Abyss, Chris Harris, and Raven should be pushed more as the main event players for TNA. As for the over 35-year-old wrestler to beat Jarrett for the title Sting and Raven are the only guys I would accept. I still don't understand why Raven hasn't been champ yet. Jarrett is sooo damn afraid to let someone be more over than him it's not even funny. If Impact! is still a Sunday Night Heat show (which I have a feeling it will be) and that don't have a two-hour show by the time "Victory Road" comes then they should just take Impact! Off the air and do it ECW style. Which is tour around, make watchable PPV cards (Daniels v. AJ, Lynn v. Raven, Sabin v. Alex Shelley), and have a PPV every 2 months.

  25. Now that the PPV's are over should TNA stop the jobber matches and focus on storylines and characters tonight or should they wait until next week to begin the new format?
