    And So it Begins

On another note, I doubt Gramhan or Halsey would have pitched this season had Jorge DePaula not gotten injured.

    Brown needs to go.

    And So it Begins

Would Yankee fans take Andrew Jones in a trade with Brown instead of signing Beltran? I'd rather have Jones and no Brown than Beltran and Brown.

Somewhere, in Milwaukee, Keith Van Horn is laughing.

Sweetney and Ariza officially need to start. Atleast they try.

    This week in the NBA

I know its only the 2nd game of the season, but the Knicks sure do look like shit.

He averaged 18 pitchers per inning last year.

Could you imagine if the Sox stole Lieber?

    And So it Begins

I could be wrong, but aren't both Radke and Lieber's BB/K ratio absurd? To me, Liebers at his best, can be more of a dominant pitcher. Maybe I haven't seen enough of Radke, but we've never had a problem hitting him. And I just can't see him shutting down the Red Sox in October. Has Lieber ever had any arm problems before he had tommy john surgery? And its not like hes never been successful, he won 20 games in his last full season.

    And So it Begins

Alright, Al. Lets say they don't sign Lieber. And lets say the Yankees get either RJ or Pavano, and Milton or Radke or Wells. That leaves the rotation as RJ/Pavano, Milton/Radke/Wells, Vazquez (if they don't trade him) Mussina, and ???. And we might not get RJ or Pavano. And I'd take Lieber over Milton and Radke anyday of the week. Wells is on his last legs. I just don't see how, considering how well he pitched in the 2nd half, and being a playoff savior, not sign him. Although, we said that about Pettite last year, and look what happened.

    And So it Begins

I'd rather have him than Eric Milton. And he seems to have a ton of success against the Sox. To me, its a no brainer. Lieber was very good the 2nd half of the season.

    And So it Begins

    They better resign Lieber.

    And So it Begins

I can't take any of that ESPN stuff seriously. I mean, they put A-Rod on the rumor list, only to talk about him still being upset about how the Yankees lost. Oh, damn. You typed all that?

I know Posada's on the decline, but if the Yankees ate his contract, doesn't Posada fit the moneyball style?
  19. mike546

    And So it Begins

According to the Newark Ledger, the Yankees might use Posada in a deal to get either Johnson or Hudson/Mulder/Zito.

The Countdown to Beltran with Yankees Topic

But, how can the simulation accuratley show where each player was skill wise at that point in their career? It it based on the stats of each player in that season, or career totals?

The Countdown to Beltran with Yankees Topic

Question: How would the 98 Yankees fared against the 04 Red Sox?
  22. mike546

    And So it Begins

Cashman just took a cheap shot at A-Rod, without actually saying his name. "We sacrifice bunted with Jeter a couple times, but we couldn't get it done. Guess we won't we doing that anymore." And atleast Cashman is admiting his faults. "We tried getting younger and better with Vazquez instead of somebody old like Schilling, and it didn't work out. Things don't always go right." And he also said the players might have thought the Red Sox were going to lay down and die after game 3, and they didn't bring it 100% psychologically.

    Looking ahead for the Phillies

One thing about the Mariners wanting a first baseman. Don't they have that prospect, I forgot his name. Bucky something. Any why wouldn't the Phillies want Lowe?
