I know the record must be pretty damn big considering how long pitchers used to go in games, but is there any modern day record for complete games in a season?

In Brown defense, hes pitched very well since the first two innings. And if the Yankees come back and win this game, which even though its 6-3, I still doubt, chalk this gamne up on the "turning point" game of the season.

Wow, it really is the same game. The only difference is Joe didn't take Brown out and, and he gives up the grand slam instead.

Its de javu all over again as Kevin Brown is getting smoked by the Os in the first inning. Hooray!

Lieber's a national league pitcher, and besides the Yankees picked up the 17th overall pick in the draft...they lost their own first round choice. But, they do need to consider rebuilding their farm system. Which sounds good, but we'll just turn around and move whoever we draft, looking for another quick fix. I've been saying since day 1 that letting Lieber walk was a mistake, were Steinbrenner and Cashman even watching the playoffs? They thought paying him 8 million a year was too much, and that he was only worth 5-6 million. Thats before the Mets fucked up everything with Benson, and hs price went way up.

The only thing that hes impressed me with is the fact he won't give in and die whwn he gets in jams like Contreras and Weaver. He battled against the Sox, and somehow got a win.

Beside El Duque, he was basically our ace the 2nd half of the season. Coming of surgery, he kept geting better and better and better as the season went on, and lead the Yankees with 14 wins. He pitched great aginst the Twins, out dueled Pedro in game 2, and pitched very well against Schilling in game 6. Most immportantly, he OWNED the Sox during the season, also going 8 and 2/3rds against them in September. I don't care hes 34, I'd take 2 more years of him than shaking my head in disbelief with Jarret Wrights bad control, and hopeing he doesn't get injured every second.

True. But the lack of pitchers being able to pitch good in a Yankee uniform is big these days, and Lieber did a damned well job.

The more I see John Lieber win, and its three in a row now, the more I'm totally saddened we didn't resign him.

I'm just going to pray this is last seasons "hit the low point of the season by getting swept by the Red Sox and going three games under .500, then go onto win 30 out of 45 and roll from there."

Not as much as you think. Lefties don't really effect Matsui, and he hit a monster HRer off him last week.

Typical Yankee baseball. Try as HARD as you can to score without getting a hit. And if it doesn't work, oh well.

If the pitcher had given up a line drive hit, then fine take him out. I just don't get the point if the pitcher is doing well. EDIT: That actually in a way screwed the Yankees last year. Torre left El Duque in way to long against the Blue Jays, and he ended up throwing 144 pitches. His arm troubles started soon after.

Someone explain this baseball theory, as I've never understood it. Your starting pitcher is pitching very well, but his pitch count is above 100. He gets the first to outs of an inning, then either gives up a bloop hit or an error is made, and hes taken out. In this case, it was Mike Mussina, and the combination of Sturtze and Stanton give up a run. Now, why do take the pitcher out, even though hes pitching well, and only just gave up a bloop hit?

Bruce Chen is suddenley an ace, and has shut the Yankees out through 8. Meanwhile, our number three starter is rocked for the 2nd time in a row.

Ugh. We've scored TWO combined runs in the first and 2nd inning this year, and right now, we can't hit a damned thing. Add that to the fact our pitching is horrific right now, the Yankees are in total sucks ass mode.

One. The tying hit against the Twins. But him blowing every other oppertunity he gets defintley overshadows that. His swing is just so SLOW now, its really sad.

Out of all the pathetic things I've seen from the Yankees, this is number one. 53 fucking pitches, 3/4th of them balls. The guy had nothing left, and we don't score a fucking run. Credit to Foulke, but jesus christ. Pathetic.
