To an extent, yes. But these programs are designed specifically with that intention in mind. It doesn't even have the subtlety that Seinfeld or Friends had about it (Although it really isn't much anyway). This is probably the top reason why I intentionally watch the most ridiculous shit on TV, like cartoons, Star Trek, wrestling etc. I don't fall into the idealized characters, and I don't go into a television show looking for enlightening. Basically I enjoy the absurdity of a lot of shows while playing guitar or writing, and leave it at that.
