I think the 90s was about the best period for tennis on both the male and female sides. While Pete Sampras was dominate, it wasn't JUST him like it had been with Federer lately. Plus he had a great rival to play off of with Andre Agassi. The women's side was good because there were numerous big name gals going back and forth and the Williams sisters hadn't established their dominance yet. I actually watched tennis through most of the 90s, haven't really watched much of it since Sampras and Agassi called it quits.

I was happy to hear the MVP chants and happy to hear the crowd actually boo his elimination. Maybe this year will be kinder to him.

So is the current fad for television "lead character has the most brilliant mind in the world when it comes to this particular profession"? House, Bones, The Mentalist, Lie To Me...any others?

IMO, one recent snub I can think of was Sean Astin not getting nominated for best supporting actor in Return of the King...come on, he was great there!

Dirty Work is one of my all-time favorite films, and I actually did like Chris Farley there....small doses, small doses.

Kevin James strikes me as a small doses (not LITERALLY, of course) kinda guy, hence why he worked out so well in Hitch. He wasn't in it non-stop, so whenever he was, the parts were enjoyable. That's why he works on a sitcom, smaller doses. I don't think I can take his comedy routine for an entire movie. I haven't found a fat man consistently funny since John Candy, and most of his comedy DIDN'T center around his weight.
