Wrestlers who were the biggest marks...
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to iggymcfly's topic in General Wrestling
Considering the whole WWF Attitude Era was an admitted copy of ECW's style, I'd say he accomplished his goal. -
Jobbing to Triple H doesn't always mean the guy doing the job comes out less over, but it happens more often than not. In addition to that, almost nobody jobs to Triple H and comes out stronger, so while it's not guaranteed that Christian will lose something in jobbing to Triple H, he almost certainly won't gain anything from it either, Assuming he does wrestle Triple H, Triple H probably should win, but the match should still be competitive so that Christian gains something by going toe-to-toe with Triple H.

Chyna's protection had everything to do with Triple H, her then boyfriend. He was tight with Shawn Michaels, who had virtual run of the WWF at that point in time, which meant that Triple H had a level of pull, simply be being tight with Shawn. -

Yes, because one job means Raw is no longer being built around Triple H. How about you actually wait for the follow up, and see where this is heading. It makes for a nice surprise that he tapped out to Benoit, but unless it means Triple H stepping aside and not being in the most pushed issue on Raw, nothing has really changed. -
It didn't help that it got mentioned once, and then was never talked about again. Next time they do a house show title change, they need to get camcorder footage of it. Actually show the match in question, rather than a couple of still pictures.
-
Even before that, there have been plans for a title to change hands on the house show. Before William Regal had his stomach virus two years ago, there was a plan for he and Lance Storm to drop the tag titles on a house show.

One Night Stand To Receive Little Promotion by WWE

It will be claimed that it was down to pure nostalgia, and that the second PPV won't do as good. The second PPV will keep having to get put back, until being scrapped altogether due to 'logistic problems'. -

The wrestlers have to form an orderly queue, and draw numbers to determine the order in which they're losing to Triple H. -
Re-signing Matt Hardy and feuding him and Edge

Who is head of talent? Gerwitz? Johnny Ace. And he's not a popular person these days. -
That would be great, if only to see the Candido People's Elbow. That spot was classic.
-
This match was great, and my favorite spot was: Candid picking up the ring steps, dropping them on his feet, and hopping around, before kicking the ring in frustration, which had him screaming in pain again That one had me laughing out loud. If someone can let me know how to edit an MPEG file, I can try to edit part of Autumn Armageddon that I have so I can post Chris Candido v Danny Daniels. It's easily as funny as this eight-man tag.

Since when did Triple H's influence become 'so-called' ? And he had influence long before hooking up with Stephanie, enough to make sure that Chyna was looked after. -

There's a joke to be made there, but I'm sure I can't think of it. -
From a creative standpoint, ECW blew WWF and WCW away in 1995. In-ring, ECW was generally ahead of WCW and WWF as well, because from a workrate perspective, their roster was better.

The History of the Horsemen
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Team Angle Pusher's topic in General Wrestling
The original plan was to call Evolution the Four Horseman, but it was decided the Horseman name was best left alone, and that calling it something new would allow them to create a legacy for themselves. -
Chyna had a strange exit.

One Night Stand To Receive Little Promotion by WWE
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Dimensions's topic in The WWE Folder
Given that a WWE 'B' PPV is taking place two weeks later, it's in the interests of ego that the ECW PPV doesn't fare well. It won't look good if an ECW PPV draws a comparable, or even superior buy rate, to a WWE PPV, even if it is a 'B' show. -
I've talked about more than "building entire angles out of fooling smart fans.". I've said that depending on how far you want to go to get this type of angle is a dangerous game, because it can cause even more distrust among the wrestlers towards management. To manipulate the emotions of smart fans would require constructing the angle in a different fashion to a normal angle, because manipulating the emotions of smart fans is a little different to manipulating the emotions of casual fans, simply because of the nature of the beast. And while it may not be super difficult to fool the smart fans, by their very nature, smart fans can't be fooled in the same manner as casual fans, hence the need to have to lay the angle out differently. That has more to do with individual people who are paranoid about being worked than smart fans in general. Except that that part of the angle would be specifically designed for smart fans, because marks don't have a clue what Meltzer and co report, which is how, if the angle you're pushing is designe to try and fool smart fans, the whole angle would have to be laid out, or you tip your hand to smart fans that it's a work. Yes, we do, considering both men have talked about it, and it's a well known story among the wrestlers. Considering there were real arrests made on this matter, amd charges were filed at first, are you seriously asking that question ? No, but given that it was the talk of the insider wrestling world, and both parties have since talked frankly about it and have been consistent in their stories, I'm guessing it's a fair bet to say it was real. Considering that both wrestlers have talked about it, and that Goldberg doesn't strike me as the type of person who would maintain the illusion that Jericho got the better of him if it was a work, I'd again say this was real. I can see some credibilty at taking shots at Keller, but the Meltzer one is so far off base, considering that Vince McMahon himself has been know to call Dave from time to time, and has also been known to run major angles past Dave. It probably isn't all that difficult, but unless the angle in question is one they really want to pay to see get concluded, it's ultimately pointless.

When Gibson, and Rikishi, were released, they were both told they'd be re-hired again eventually, provided they didn't work for TNA. Gibson only was let go because of steriods, he'll probably get to the top of the ROH card, then brought back to WWE. The thread is about what wrestlers TNA should get, and I explained why they had not used Gibson, so what relevance does your post have ? We already know why he was let go, and we already know that he'll almost certainly return to WWE.

The bingo halls is more right than wrong. That might be true, but the timeline is usually off, because all the articles about wrestling always talked as if it all happened around the same time as Wrestlemania. Not to mention they'd invariably talk as if wrestling was dying a death before that time, which is also far from true.

Why not just leave all the UK releases unedited? One main reason is that standards for what can and can't be shown in the UK are different to the US. The angle where Terry Funk tied a plastic bag got edited out of the UK version of the Flair DVD because of the standards they have, so they sometimes can't make direct copies of US stuff.

I guess no one heard the massive boos and "Eddie Sucks" chants, huh? That was the biggest heat of the night. Let's see how long it lasts while Eddie is at the top of his game. If someone is too good at being a heel, especailly in today's climate, the fans might boo him at first, but they'll eventually start cheering him because of how good he is at what he does. Shawn was booed wildly at first, but after being one of the best workers in the company for long enough fans started cheering him. The list goes on and on of heels who, while booed like crazy at first, were so good at what they did the fans started cheering them.

Really? I thought the incident on the Stossel dude was part of the reason, but never heard about him attacking Mr. T. What happend? He was fired for both attacking the ABC reporter and what happened with Mr T, but he did not attack Mr T. What happened was that at a major house show in Los Angeles, Mr T and his entourage wanted to come into the locker room, but Schultz wouldn't let them in, and blocked their way.
-
From you, earlier in the thread: Coming up with an angle to use smart fans and manipulate their emotions would mean the angle would have to be designed specifically for the smart audience, because of their nature. You might want to think things out a little more.
