Shane McMahon has crossed himself during matches. Does he have a religious gimmick? My previous post was no sold, but ask yourself if you did not know that he was a born again Christian from being on the net, would you realize that he is one by watching him on Raw? I'd probably look at it as a guy who had a serious back injury praying that he stays healthy, which is prbably what he's doing. Hell, the guy used to wear chaps and a vest that were covered in crosses, they were hanging all over the thing and that was in the mid-90s, way before the Christian deal came around. I don't see him sporting that type of thing now. I don't really get why people hate on him for finding God or whatever. I can see why they may dislike him for the shit he has pulled backstage or even dislike his work, but hating a guy for turning his life around is a little strange to me. The guy was fucked up on pain pills and what not and now he won't even drink a beer. That is admirable and shouldn't be mocked. I supose I'm taking this a little too personally but I've had two close friends die from drug overdoses and I wish that they would have found something, anything that would have given them the strengh to quit. A guy who crosses himself and looks to the heavens during his entrance and wears a shirt with a Jesus Fish on it, is not pushing his religion on people. I think the t-shirt with a bible phrase that he wore in his comeback match at Summerslam 2002 would have been a big hint. He's worn many a religious shirt on-screen, and his latest merchandise even plays on his religious beliefs as well. And once a guy's beliefs make it on screen in some fashion, they become part of his gimmick. I don't think anyone has said they hate him for finding God. They just dislike the fact that it plays a part of his on-screen persona, which it does, whether you like it or not. No, but he's making it part of his gimmick and persona, which people, rightly or wrongly, can take it to mean he's pushing his beliefs.

Because Lesnar v Angle was the planned main event. Had been since late 2002.

It's a wide enough target. -
To hold the belt just past WM XIX, and then drop it to Benoit.

Goldust was meant to be the one who left the note, but when he got released, the angle was dropped, rather than go with someone else. -

I don't think Hunter will be champion going in to WM XXII, but he'll come out of it as champion. Two years in a row of him dropping the belt at WM will be enough, and even teasing it with a third match with him as champion would be stretching it. Plus, he'll want a big WM Title win to make up for two WM championship jobs in a row, which would also mean a Rumble win as well. -

If they keep up the "never been pinned or made to submit" thing up for long enough, I could see them, if all other factors work out, putting Batista against Hassan, with Batista vowing to "not bother with pinning or submitting you; I'm going to knock you out." As I said earlier, I don't see the pro-USA angle needed for this match playing well with Batista's badass persona. It doesn't make a badass seem like a badass to get all patriotic, and start waving Old Glory. Batista v Hassan at SummerSlam ? No. I see it as 'B' Level PPV main event. I think Summerslam will be Batista v Hunter II/III, with Batista getting the win in front of his home town. -

The Warrior v Hunter match was done so Warrior would create a splash, as it were, by beating someone who had been fairly protected up to that point. It happened long before the Curtain Call. -

I guess it's not appropriate to engage in conversation on here, and make people actually think. It's better to just come on here and call HHH, JBL, and Cena worthless, and praise the likes of Benoit and Paul London simply because everyone else does it. Just trying to start an interesting post, that's all. Guess that's not appreciated on THIS board, huh? People did think. They generally thought it was a bad idea, and gave some good reasons why it would be a bad idea. If you think you can counter their points, feel free to do so. Failing that, you could moan some more. Instead of pissing and moaning about the responses you get, how about responding the points made as to why this idea would not work ? Why not elaborate on how the pro-USA stance needed to play off of the Hassan character would fit into Batista's current badass persona ? Or you could explain why Hunter wouldn't be involved in the main event ? Maybe even add some real background to the Hassan v Batista match ? -

Blowing a basic move on national television isn't going to endear him to management. Maybe if he was a juiced up 300lb musclehead like Masters, it'd get overlooked. Not to mention he blew the finish, and I don't even know how he did that, considering it should have been obvious that he had the bell too far across to his right. -

When a guy can blow something as simple as an irish whip, it doesn't bode well for his chances at improving enough to where he can carry his end of the main event of WWE's second biggest PPV of the year. Not to mention that Hassan's anti-USA stance would require Batista to be a strong patriot type in order to play off of the Hassan persona, which isn't what his badass persona should be. Damn, you get defensive when a bad idea gets shot down, don'tcha ? -

And someone who blew an irish whip and fucked up a finish in a way that screams "idiot", on live television is ? -
I guess you're ignoring Shawn crossing himself and practically praying during his entrances. The Streetfight was still quiet for the first half of it, though, so I don't see how he is as over as you seem to think he is, when someone that over would be cheered from the beginning.
-
To be fair, a guy can have a bad character, but if he is an expert at working the crowd, they'll wind up cheering him. Not necessarily what happens with Shawn, but it is something to consider. Also consider that for most of the Edge v Shawn Streetfight, the crowd were very quiet, and didn't really start cheering for Shawn until the blade job. If he were as over as you say, then they'd be chanting for him from the beginning. Shawn's character isn't a great one for a babyface, because religious orientated gimmicks are usually heel in nature, but he can overcome that to get the crowd cheering for him, though.

And JBL can? IMO Hassan is better then JBL in the ring. I'm sure Hassan will improve, just like Batista did. I'm not the biggest JBL fan in the world, but to say that Hassan is better in the ring than JBL is beyond absurd. At least JBL doesn't blow irish whips, and can be booked around. And Hassan probably will improve, but he'd have to improve a hell of a lot just to be average. -

Savage wanted death to Nash probably coming off of Savage helping DDP beat Nash in the aforementioned 4-way. Savage was in the Wolfpac until April/May of 1998, when he had to have surgery on a torn ACL. He came back in the lead-up to Spring Stampede 1999. Nash got cheered because he was a 'cool heel', and never really did much to get booed anyway. There was no follow up to Kimberly-Steiner, because she refused to work with him. -
Cena or JBL?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to rising up out of the back seat-nuh's topic in The WWE Folder
It would still make Cena look weaker though. I mean, if JBL had to cheat like crazy and come up with a plan to outfox the other babyfaces, it makes Cena look weak if JBL doesn't even have to do that to beat him. JBL v Cena has to end with Cean outfoxing the outfoxer, and beating him clean. But who can buy ANY of Cena's offense being able to do that? His offense looks weak as can be, far weaker than any of the opponents JBL has faced to date. -=Mike Then this is the time for Cena to bust out a new move, or a deadlier version of the FU. Ideally, his pinfall should come off of something new that we’ve not seen him do before. Not only does it pop the fans, because they’ve never seen it, it gives the heel an out he can use to convince himself that the babyface only won because he had to surprise him. -

Unless Hassan improves really really fast in the next five months, fans won't buy him in the main event. Yeah, you don't have to be a World Class worker to headline, but you can't be as green as Hassan is either. For the length of match WWE has in the main events, he can't cut it. -
Cena or JBL?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to rising up out of the back seat-nuh's topic in The WWE Folder
Then wouldn't it make sense for JBL to stunningly beat Cena, go on a run, before dropping the gold? The man has done a lot to get better as a single. -=Mike If JBL beats Cena clean, then it makes Cena look worse than the babyfaces JBL has outfoxed so far, because it shows that while JBL had to think to beat them, he didn't have to bother with that for Cena. -
Cena or JBL?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to rising up out of the back seat-nuh's topic in The WWE Folder
JBL has been a terrible champion, though it's certainly not from a lack of effort in the ring on his part. The way the WWE Title has been handled has devalued it to an almost comical degree, with next to no clean and/or decisive wins. The babyfaces have been made to look like idiots, because the heel has managed to outsmart them at every turn. And, while Armageddon did do a surprisingly good buy rate, if you actually watch the main event, JBL gets almost no reaction, and when they do the spot of him getting bounced around by all three babyfaces, nobody pops. Not a lick of a reaction. If he was over to any degree with the people to had paid their money to get in, he'd be getting something, but he got nothing. This isn't an attack on Bradshaw himself, because like I said, he has worked hard to improve himself, but as Championship reigns go, his has been almost all terrible. -
Do you think you can explain why you think he's wrong ? And while you're at it do you think you can explain why Michaels should have gone over ?
