    Cornette Firing/Russo Hiring

Cornette had some clout, but not more than any of the other people on the booking team.

    Cornette Firing/Russo Hiring

The problems with the SA Raw had nothing to do with the booking, though one of the matches was horrid as I remember. The problem had to do with the production on some of the segments, as the lighting and/or audio was terrible.

    Cornette Firing/Russo Hiring

Cornette was never head booker for the WWF. He was on the writing team, like a bunch of others were, but he was never head of it. Russo got the job because Vince liked his crazy ideas.

    Wrestlemania 21

How was this supposed to occur last year? The original plan for WM XX was to headline with Hunter v Orton. I thought that was just a rumor, since Orton's program with Foley had been booked three months before WMXX. Not a rumor. Up until, I think November time, it was the plan. It finally got changed because it felt Orton wasn't ready.

The Bret Hart/Scott Hall/Roddy Piper debacle

And a bunch of others as well, yeah. Was that the same meeting where Eric Bischoff had said that the only guys who can draw or are credible main eventers (or something along those lines) were Hogan, Piper and Savage (while Ric Flair was RIGHT THERE in the meeting room)? Or was that a different meeting? Different meeting. That happened in the same meeting where he offered anyone a full release if they wanted it. Then backed down when Raven took him up on the offer, and only offered him a partial release. What he had said was that Hogan, Piper and Savage were the only ones around who "put asses on seats."

You know, Orton has to be really pissed off. Two years in a row he's been meant to headline WM, and each time something has come along to stop it happening.

    JBL Reaches Modern Day Milestone

The problem is they can't keep booking JBL as a fluke champion for much longer, because they've already devalued the belt too much as it is, and I don't see them beating Cena clean either. And at least Diesel won some title matches cleanly.

Spots that should've been the finish...

The finish to Rock v Jericho at NM was horrible beyond belief. The fans were dying to accept Jericho as a top guy, and after his LMS with Hunter back in July not being followed up on, this was about the last real chance for them to view Jericho as a top guy. The fans in the building were on the edge of their seat, clamoring for Jericho to win cleanly and have their faith in him vindicated. If The Rock had tapped out clean in the middle, which is what that entire arena wanted, they would have blown the roof off of the place, because that is the only finish they wanted. The match was MOTY-level as well. Instead, we got a screwjob finish, and the fans were told once and for all that Jericho can't win the big one on his own, and that's when all faith in him as being a top guy was lost. I seriously don't know how anyone with a brain can think that finish was in any way acceptable.

Smackdown and Velocity spoilers from Philly

It's the battle of the generic looking hosses with nothing that makes them stand out.

    On the Barbwire Cage

I think it makes the selling point of the whole PPV a bit of a rip-off, when the barbed wire was never really used. The least they could have done was cut off a section and teased using it, like having JBL tape his fist, wrap the wire around it, and go to hit Show, who would move out of the way.

The Bret Hart/Scott Hall/Roddy Piper debacle

Elaborate please. I remember hoping that it'd be Bret vs Benoit at the PPV since Benoit was promised a title around this time. Eric was wanting to build towards Hart v Hogan later in the year, around HHavoc. Part of this was because he wanted to justify Hart's salary. Nash felt Hart was being paid too much, and wasn't over enough to warrant the match being built to. At the booking meeting before the Nitro in question, they were meant to begin building towards Hart v Hogan, and Page suggested that Bret put over Booker T, which Hart was against, feeling that it wasn't the right time to do that if they were going to build to Hart v Hogan. Nash complained to Eric that Hart wasn't cooperating, and it ended up with Hart dropping the US Title to Piper for no reason, other than the obvious.

WWE Back to USA? Smackdown to be live?

Nothing like rumor and speculation. How about telling us what the motion is, or why it's looking more and more likely that WWE will move to USA ? Is PWInsider.con incapable of giving background to any story ?

The Bret Hart/Scott Hall/Roddy Piper debacle

It was all down politicking from Nash et al to bury Hart.

The WWE Raw Thread for 02-21-05

How is it an E and C reunion, when they've wrestled a couple of tag matches in the last few months, one of which ended with Edge attacking Christian ?

    Quick thought about Christian

Less goofy, and he could be a credible upper midcarder at least.

    Quick thought about Christian

I think he'll be the one to take the IC belt off Benjamin. It'll peg him as a midcarder for life, but at least he won't be that badly buried by it.

We'd have had that if Patterson was around.

    Chris Masters

Well, they've got to fill at least one slot in Evolution, so they could do that with him. It would hide his glaring weaknesses at least.
  23. Hunter's Torn Quad

How Come they never made it big?

And yet if it's a wrestler they like, you can bet they'll think long and hard of ways to book around their weaknesses.

    Chris Masters

He's been on the road for a few weeks now, but he'll have no trouble maintianing that physique.

Not to mention the new top face of Raw is likely to be doing a lot of the same thing.
