He injured his arm back on the 4th. Don't know what he did, but the arm is in a cast, which, added to the fact that he isn't even appearing at all, indicates it's probably serious.

Maybe WWE can stay out of Missouri for ten years, then, on their first event back, kill wrestling in the state again with a Dusty Finish in the main event. Oh, wait, they did that already.

That's right! If the current website is correct, than the building holds 80,325 not including the floor.. So IF this is correct, there is NO WAY that the 78,000 figure (including the floor) can possibly be correct NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS!! That is why I asked the question about adding 10,000 seats that no one could answer. The bottom line is: If the building actually holds 80,325, then the Melzter/promoter etc. number CANNOT POSSIBLY be correct!! *(unless they have added 8-10,000 seats which is retarded) Is this difficult to understand? I don't think so.. So, in order for your theory to be right, then: The Silverdome got it wrong The promoter of the event itself got it wrong The head of the company running the event got it wrong (and the last two would know more than anyone how many fans they could get in) The main promoter of the company running the event got it wrong Seriously, what are the chances of all four of these people/groups getting it wrong, and, at the same time, coming to exact same conclusion ? One other point that you’ve not mentioned is that, Zane Bresloff aside, everyone else who had to have been mistaken to make your theory right has always publicly gone with the mythical number. So, assuming that you were correct, and that everyone had got it wrong, what is their reason for going with one number privately, and another number publicly ? Not only that, whenever Vince, Zane, Cohen, etc have told someone what the real number was, they’ve never gone back to them and corrected them, and said it was actually the mythical 93,173 number. It’s always been consistent; they’ve gone with the fake number in public, and they’ve gone with the real number in private. What reason do they have to do that, other than to maintain the illusion of the 93,173 number ?

That was most definitely 'X-Pac heat', though it was just as much for Steiner as the match as a whole.

It's where the fans hate you, but in a "I don't want to see you here" way, rather than a "I will pay to see you get beat" way.

UFC 51: SUPER SATURDAY~!

My favorite line from Ortiz was when he told Shamrock: "Because I am Rick James, and you are my bitch." -
Or it's got more wood.

But, to release someone of the magnitude of the Rock, especially with the backlash going to be felt by his loyal fans, the casual fan and the outside media, the convincing had to have come from Vince's inner circle. ...and we remember what happened to Vince's right-hand man last October. He let Hulk Hogan go. He let Randy Savage go. He let Roddy Piper go. If Vince believes that someone, regardless of how big they are, is of no use to him any more, he'll let them go.
-
If there is even the slightest chance of it happening, it'll happen.
-
If Vince believes, or is convinced by someone, that he doesn't need Rock, he'll let him walk away. If Vince thinks someone isn't useful to him anymore, he'll cut them loose, regardless of whether he's right or wrong.

New Japan isn't a major promotion ? And Dynamite Kid has a love of his workrate from more than 'smart marks'. Wrestlers who worked with him and around him praise his talent has being one of the best. They don't like his attitude and think it sucked, but they still praise him for being one of the best. And it should be noted that Vince now sees the WWF HOF as encompassing all of wrestling.
-
I wonder if the NWA belt is welded to the Jarrett figure's hand so you can't take it away from him.
-
Do you mean the Super Assassins, who were squashed by Luger and Sting ? If you do, they were Warlord and Barbarian under hoods.
-
He could have come straight from the dojo of New Japan, it wouldn't matter. Once you're in WWE, you're expected to wrestle 'WWE style', regardless of whether you can work any other style, or if you can work that style better.

The OAO State of the Union address thread
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to BUTT's topic in Current Events
A lot of people view marriage as being this sacred institution, which is funny when you think that half of marriages end in divorce anyway, and seem overly obsessed with defending it to the death. To them, gay people getting married would somehow bring down this 'great institution' or do serious damage to it, all the while ignoring the fact that heterosexuals have done a great job of that themselves. -
I never said it was. One wrestler beating another in five seconds with one move is a squash. It's when the person getting the pin is someone's wife that makes it humiliating.

"Just Accept It, We're Number One Now"

And he was promptly taken off tv for the last two months of his contract, and never seen again until appearing on Nitro. When a guy loses in a PPV main event and is then taken off TV, even when he could still be jobbed out on TV, that doesn't make him look like a top guy to the casual fans. And Mankind main event against HBK at Mind Games later that year, but I doubt anyone saw him as a top level guy. -
Not if they're given a finishing move by a serious wrestler six seconds beforehand, no. I've gotten pinned by a girl in a fifteen-second match, I wasn't humiliated. If a normal match ended in five seconds with one guy hitting a big move and getting the pin right away, it would be a squash match. Not only is that what happened to DDP, with Undi hitting the chokeslam before the bell, but his wife scored the pin. The wife getting the pinfall is what makes it humiliating. And I'd like to know in what circumstances getting beaten in 15 seconds by a girl isn't humiliating.

Quiet, you'll make him look like a hypocrite. Oh wait, he is. And as for this little line: I guess you've chosen to ignore the praise he has for Triple H, who, and I might be wrong on this, was a member of The Clique ?

I asked Dave about the WM 3, specifically what exactly Zane Bresloff sent to him to confirm the 78,000 number, and this is what Dave said: "He sent me the building settlement. Ed Cohen of WWF confirmed it. Vince McMahon told me when they announce numbers like that on television it's because they are "for entertainment purposes only." "The numbers we give you are real." I'm not saying I believe him, but that's what he said. If it was wrong, 5 years ago someone in the company would have called me the first time I printed it to tell me it was wrong. They were not shy of calling for any mistakes, no matter how minor, in the Observer." So, not only do you have the building backing the 78,000 number, not only do you have the promoter of the event itself backing the 78,000 number, you actually have someone from the WWF backing the number. That's three people or companies who were behind the event backing up the real number. What more do you want to finally accept the fact that the 93,173 number is pure myth ?

You can't see anything humiliating in getting beaten in five seconds by a non-wrestler ?

That's a lot of sand in that there vagina. Debate Rule #1: If you can't defend your point of view in a relevent manner, make an absurd statement to disguise that fact. He was disliked long before WCW went out of business. No, he was hated the same before and after WCW died. see Debate Rule #1 If by suspect, you mean right on the money, then you might be right. You are here. The mark is here. You'll notice that you're way off the mark. At least Ric Flair was having the same good to great match, depending on his opponent, every night. Might his being irrelevant having something to do with the fact that was so stale and old, and was not connecting with the audience ? The hallmark of staleness. Kind of like your weak ass pro-X Pac post. Except our arguments had merit.

Wrestling Observer Live were talking about the Death Of WCW book, and this question was asked, and I think it would make for a good topic on here. At which point did you think WCW had gone past the point of no return, and that it was hopeless ? Another question asked was when you realised Vince Russo didn't have a clue about wrestling ? They weren't talking about his creativity, but his actual understanding of wrestling. For me, I felt WCW had gone past TPONR when Russo reformed the NWO for the 174,454th time. At that point, it was clear that Russo was both clueless about wrestling, though the virtually useless 32-man World Title Tournament made that clear two months beforehand, and was obsessed with reliving the WWF in WCW, which was a doomed concept. As for Russo having no clue about wrestling, the aforementioned World Title tournament didn't help, but also the pointless interference in the Chris Benoit v Bret Hart match at Mayhem made it clear he didn't get it at all. And what made it clear he didn't know, understand or care about the WCW audience was on the Nitro relaunch in April 2000, when he said his aim was to beat Vince McMahon at his own game. First, you cannot beat Vince at Vince's own game. Second, if people want to watch Sports Entertainment, they'll watch the WWF. And thirdly, WCW fans don't want that anyway. They want a product totally different to the WWF product, but Russo didn't care. And if the guy in charge doesn't care what the fans want to see, and just puts out what he wants to see instead, it's hopeless. What about the rest of you ? When did you think it was all over for WCW ?
