Except it took WWE over 2 years to start booking Batista half as good as he was booked in OVW, and they took some of his specialness away by having him grow out his hair.

FTR: Show is on around $950,000pa until February of 2009 Henry is on $250,000pa until around June of 2006 Lesnar's developmental deal was for $250,000pa, which is about five times the standard developmental deal was at that time. His new deal, which he negotiated, I think sometime in early 2003, was for $1.5mpa for seven years.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
When the real Warrior turned WCW down, Rick Wilson was recommend to them by Wendell Wetherby, who drove Warrior around during his WWF days. When Warrior found out, he broke off all contact with Wetherby. -
Re: The tag titles at IYH 3. Martha had given birth a few days before the event. The whole deal with Bulldog wrestling the match and then Owen running in to get pinned was to allow for a fake title change, which would let Shawn and Diesel win the match but not the tag titles. Re: Vince doing more and more commentary Vince wanted to be the one on commentary as there were storylines he wanted to get over a certain way, and he felt he could do that best, seeing as he knew where they were meant to be heading.

Tanahashi v Nakamura was really good stuff, in the ***1/2 range, and if they keep improving, then the same match could hit MOTY levels in a year or so. As for the U-30 title, Nakamura was wanting to seal it, but they are running an angle where Hirooki Goto, one of the better rookies, doesn't want Nakamura to do that, and they have a non-title singles match on 1/23 which they are inferring could determine the fate of the U-30 Title

He was just a figurehead. It was Jake's idea. He figured that the snake bite would be so shocking, that people would forget that he'd just done a clean job. -

Luger did NOT have a title run written into his contract. It was the first regular 3hr Nitro, and they wanted to end it with a bang, hence the title change. -
Lesnar extends his hand to Inoki
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to SinToxic's topic in General Wrestling
I'm going to paraphrase the credible and logical points that have come up in this thread, and then I'm going to leave it alone, because Jason's stupidity is beginning to get tiresome. 1: New Japan, while not close to dying yet, are in a slump, and have been for a while now. To try and argue otherwise, by claiming it's a 'transition period', for example, is just stupid, and shows a complete lack of understanding of Japanese wrestling, and business in general. The fact that their annual January Dome Show is looking like it won't even half fill the Tokyo Dome is pretty strong proof they are slumping, and bad, 2: Misawa and Muto might be junior heavyweight in size, but 99.99% of everything they ever drew saw them pushed as heavyweights. Using them to try and claim junior heavyweights can draw is illogical, because when they drew they were pushed as heavyweights. 3: Gedo and Jado will never be superstars. They just don't have what it takes to make it as top guys in a major promotion. 4: Jason, you are an absolute fucking idiot, who doesn't know a thing about Japanese wrestling. -

Dave never said Panda had dropped TNA. What he actually said was that Panda have apparently given Jerry Jarrett a deadline to find a new money mark for TNA, or they are pulling the plug. And it appears that Jerry has been telling people that he has found two potential money marks to once again buy into TNA. I talked about the initial points in this thread. You just responded with babbling idiocy. -
Trying to get attention with a "woe is me" thread like this isn't helping.

Are you seriously trying to compare the credibility of Dave Meltzer to Panda Energy ? -

The same person that Panda Energy's apparantly calling a liar. Well, if Panda energy said it, it must be true. -

That's complete and utter bullshit. The January Dome show is coming up, but you have no idea how many tickets they've sold, nor have they begun to give away freebies. What proof do you have that people are throwing away freebies? Zero whatsoever, because you pulled that out of your ass. But why do you stray off topic? As far as I'm concerned, this argument is over, because it begun at your "Lesnar may be NJPW's last chance at survival" statement, which I've already shown was completely inaccurate. I was pointing out that NJPW is the biggest promotion in Japan and that they are here to stay. This guy called Dave Meltzer. Maybe you've heard of him. There is one small problem with that: I never said Lesnar may be their last chance at survival. First rule of debating with someone: Make sure you are debating over something the other guy actually said. They are here to stay, and I never said otherwise. I was just pointing out that they have no competition for their spot as top Japanese promotion. -

This much we know. It's not bad; it's transitionary. The worst crowd for a January Dome show from New Japan was in 2002, when they drew about 30,000. -

New Japan's January Dome show is about a week away, and they've sold only about 12,000 tickets. They can't even give them away; people who are given freebies have been tossing them in the trash. Maybe Jason, whose knowledge of Japanese wrestling is clearly on a level far above us all, can use his great wisdom to tell us how this isn't a sign that Japanese wrestling is suffering, and is merely in a 'transition stage'. -

Ok, now we know you're clueless. By no stretch of any sane imagination are Gedo or Jado great draws for New Japan. Even New Japan's top stars aren't great draws; at best they are good ones. If they were any better, they wouldn't have struggled to barely fill up half the Osaka Dome. And I still get a laugh about your insistence that Japanese wrestling isn't down, it's just in a state of transition. I suppose the American wrestling scene from 1992-1996 was in a state of transition as well(!) While it is true that New Japan aren't currently near death, it is also true, despite how you seem incredibly desperate to spin it, that New Japan is not doing that well. Sure, they aren't bombing, yet, but they don't show any signs of business turning around and sparking up any time soon. And where did I contradict my statement about New Japan not having any competition ? They don't. All Japan are a very distant third, and NOAH are firmly entrenched in second place, with no signs that they are going to move up or down. Do us all a favor, and stop posting without first getting something approaching a clue. -

Hunter's Torn Quad replied to SinToxic's topic in General Wrestling
I'm a big fan of Gedo and Jado, but they are strictly midcard talents. They won't be superstars in New Japan unless some mystical force causes about 20 to 30 other wrestlers to vanish off the face of the earth. They might have an ultra slim chance in All Japan, if Muto loses more of his booking marbles. And they have zero chance in NOAH. Unless a new promotion, long on money and short on talent comes along, Gedo and Jado won't be superstars for a promotion of any real size and standing. -
JBL bashes Internet Writer Wade Keller
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to Taker666's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm not a fan of Wade at all, but he does have a point. The Smackdown in Iraq should have been about entertaining the troops, and not been used by Vince has a platform to attack anyone, much less people who have commited the terrible crime of having a different opinion. -

Hunter's Torn Quad replied to SinToxic's topic in General Wrestling
I think we've established that Jason's grasp of Japanese wrestling is as woefully poor as his grasp of American wrestling. Japanese wrestling has been on the downturn for a while now, and to try and write it off as a 'matter of transition' shows how little he really knows. -

Hunter's Torn Quad replied to SinToxic's topic in General Wrestling
Drawing a legit crowd of around 20,000 or so to a Dome that holds 55,000 is not "just fine". All Japan stopped being competition a long time ago. They might be doing ok right now, but they aren't even in New Japan's league. NOAH are doing well too, but they are still a couple of steps behind New Japan. As for the Osaka Dome card, the two guys New Japan seems to want to build around did clean jobs to outsiders, with no real chance of them getting the wins back in the near future, so card quality aside, some of the booking was silly. -
