Hunter's Torn Quad

There was a plan for The Rock to beat Hunter for the WWF Title the night after Unforgiven in 1999, but Hunter bitched about it long and loud enough that the idea was scrapped.

The Hogan revival was more to do with his actions after the pinfall loss than the reaction he got. He was so humble and gracious in the loss, that the biggest, and, more importantly, the final impression, was of Hogan being the gracious loser. Take away the reaction he got, and Hogan's actions after the loss would still have gotten him over more than winning would have.

Now that is how to make a title change mean something. Reading that news had more of an impact on me than actually watching almost every major title change in the last few years. I'm shocked, if only because I thought Joe would at least get to the 2 year mark, and I didn't think Aries would be the one to do it.

With only occasional exceptions, that is the case.

DeMott was taken off TV because he's apparently going to be a trainer for WWE's Atlanta developmental league.

WCW gave their cruiserweights the chance to have good matches from time to time, and that's it. They were typically treated as card fillers, used as jobbers a great deal, and were never allowed to rise up the card.

It was Flo Jo. She was definitely on something. When she was at her 'juiciest', it was joked by Paul Heyman that she needed a shave worse than Bruce Willis.

And who can forget the time WCW rewarded Juventud Guerrera and Blitzkrieg for their MOTY level affair at Spring Stampede by never mentioning the match on Nitro, turning Juventud into a virtual jobber, and running Blitzkrieg out of the business altogether. Man, those were some good times.

Nobody who has been paying attention to WWE for more than five minutes speculates as to why WWE's Cruiserweight division doesn't click. Vince doesn't think it draws, and so very rarely treats it as anything more than an afterthought, if he ever thinks about it at all. If a division is treated as an afterthought, most of the fans soon think of it as an afterthought too, and stop caring, hence it doesn't click.

Sting was set to come into WWE for a match at WM XVIII against Vince. From what I understand, the deal was virtually signed and sealed, but it fell apart at the last minute, which was apparently down to WWE playing hardball in wanting Sting to wrestle a full-time schedule, which is something he has always stated that he has no interest in doing again. Luger had nothing to do with it.

The angle was dropped because it was going to end up with it coming out that Diana had put the moves on Shawn and he had turned her down. Diana didn't want to be portrayed in such a manner, which you'd think they would have asked her about before even starting the angle, and so the angle was quietly dropped. Of note, is that after the match, and this was edited out of the replay, Shawn's music gets messed up, and he threw a huge tantrum in the ring, cursing up a storm at the sound guy. In addition to that, a ringside fan heckled him early in the match, and he kept cursing at her, to the point that the fans around her picked up on it, and started booing Shawn.

If Monty doesn't win, how will it make him look when he can't beat a guy who openly admits on TNA's own TV that he is lazy, and a guy who, TNA and recent Indy dates aside, hasn't wrestled in 2 years ? Monty has to win the three-way, in convincing fashion, regardless of whether he's beating Jarrett in the main event.

Yes, but rumors are that his wig is going to get a World Title push in the very near future, and will be a mystery entrant in this year's Royal Rumble. I think X-Pac wants the wig to guest star as his pubes in One Night In Chyna II. I'll remember Lamont for his entrance with Ernest Miller in this years Rumble. Not one person made a sound when Miller came out. I think that pretty much killed Miller's WWE career dead.

Man, when Cornette calls your match off while it's happening, you know you're bad. She had a match with Jillian Hall that was so bad that it they actually didn't want to air it, but because it saw Miles take out Hall so Hall could have time off for her plastic surgery, they had no choice but to air it, so they could explain Hall's absence, though I think even then they only showed clips.

Gunn had a drug issue, and was sent to rehab. In addition to that, he was always bitching and moaning about his push, and was endlessly complaining that he deserved a bigger push because he'd been around for so long.

Sid was meant to wrestle Bret Hart at the April 1997 IYH, where he would put Bret over. However, by sheer coincidence, Sid just happened to get injured, and unfortunately couldn't do the job.

Miles wasn't actually fired. She had a really bad match in OVW a while ago, so bad that Jim Cornette, who does commentary, actually got up from the commentary table and told the ref to stop the match. Miles then stopped coming to practice, and eventually called John Laurinaitis to say she was quitting.

For a guy to get elevated, he needs to be put in a position above the one he was in before. Benoit was a second tier player before his reign and after his reign, and the only time he was treated like something close to a top player during his reign was in the run up to Backlash, and when he was dropping the Raw title in his home country to Randy Orton. Benoit wasn't buried during his 'big push', but the reality is he was treated just the same as he was before; hovering around the glass ceiling, and allowed into the top sphere whenever a good match was needed out of a guy who can't carry a tune, let alone a slug to a *** match.

Benoit and Hogan have never had a singles match. Their only interaction in matches were in a pair of six-man tags, on the 1/25/99 and 2/9/99 episodes of Nitro. The first match saw Benoit, Flair and Mongo beat Hogan, Nash and Scott Steiner by DQ. The second match saw Hogan, Hall and Nash beat Benoit, Flair and Mongo.

If TNA had faith in Jarrett versus either one of these guys headlining a PPV, they would set the match up beforehand. With them setting it up like they have, it's clear they're counting on the mystery of who will Jarrett have to face to sell the show, rather than a specific match, once again making Jarrett seem above all three, rather than presenting them as equals.

You can use the demo to do what you need, and while the demo is meant to expire after 30 days, there are ways around that. Not that I know anything about that sort of thing, mind you.
